This is amazing, been watching you for ages and it feels like yesterday that you were a hidden gem that I stumbled across. Love to see it going strong, and congrats man
I'm a simple fisherman. I raise a ton of worms and fish with those worms. But your videos always make me go out to the garage and think that I could do what you do. Then I realize that ain't happening so I just watch some more of what you put out. Love the videos keep them coming! On to the next bait!!!
same. I tried making a little jig head just to try and get the worm more where I wanted it/make it more visible. Well, not sure about the fishing quality, but it's a cute little bugger
It's amazing how critical we can about our own work. That just shows how much you care about what you do if you ask me. I enjoyed this video and a great trip down memory lane with you. I've been watching for a very long time now and don't plan on stopping
Maaaan... NOSTALGIA!!! Seeing you and Chelsea grow together and build a family over these years has been amazing! Seeing chip grow, seeing you and Chelsea become parents, seeing Finny growing up. It's been magical and it doesn't feel like that long but it's been years. Thanks for putting out this great content, Nate!
I'm so glad you started talking in your videos, half of the entertainment is hearing what you have to say. Keep up the amazing work, you're an inspiration for loads of us!
Hands down I absolutely LOVE hearing your personal thoughts and struggles with the baits I've watched you make!! It's like a director's cut of the movies!!!!
Really wanted to see the block of wood bait on the list. Loved it and it was definitely a proof of concept that anyone can try to make a bait. Gave me a nice hobby for my long Alaska winters.
After watching this video I just realized how long I've been watching your videos.. You have come quite a long way.. Greatly appreciate the honesty and integrity that you show doing your channel... Best of luck.
I started watching your videos at the start of the pandemic, and I've been watching every sunday upload and binged watched all the past videos. It's just incredible noticing all the time that's passed and all of your creations over the years.
It’s crazy to think I started watching you 4+ years ago and I made my first wooden lure with some tools I found in the garage and painted it with sharpie and cheep paint. No clear coat and now I tie lures. Thanks for everything
so cool to see the progression of your craft and knowing iv been around since a little bit before the MILK snake vid. the bait are always really cool works of art and you always are interesting to watch man, keep it up!
I will admit, I sort of fell off watching your videos but I'm finding myself watching this in its entirety because your personality and a stroll down memory lane. I will be watching your videos more frequently again!
I’ve been here for 3 years and it’s great to see how far you have came. You’ve inspired me to start carving lures. Lots of respect for this man right here.
I’m gonna say, the antique musky lure had one of my most favorite paint jobs you’ve done. Also, I love that you made the Roman Mother, because many of us will never be able to spend that kind of money, but you showed us that if we have enough ambition and determination and patience, maybe each of us can try to build our own... Which honestly has always been a driving factor behind trying to do my own (wood) work. Another side idea, at the end of this rating series, it’d be cool if you took all of the Official and Omegafficial, and put them up against each other, and pick what you think is your best bait you’ve made.
Thank you for the wonderful walk down memory lane, I've just realised how much time I've spent watching your videos, and the inspiration I've received, for that I thank you.😊
Do this quarterly. I really did like this recap video. It made me want to seek out videos of lures you showed that i missed and watch them. Good job Sir. Keep up the awesome work.
I've gotten one of the highest amounts of ❤s from this channel, I've loved MB since the beginning. I started carving lures and got my first airbrush this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration MB. Also anyone have more ❤s then me give me a comment.
It’s always a great day when Marling Baits posts! Been watching for a very long time-your work played a big role in me getting back into fishing! So thanks for the content, and keep it coming!
The no electricity crank bait was what got me hooked on this channel. I actually made this bait, I loved it this bait so much. This might be my favorite bait on the channel of all time. Just slightly behind the block of wood bait...just kidding!
I've been watching for about 2 years, caught up on all the old videos eventually. Kind of fun to go back and see all the baits again without watching the whole videos!
This was an awesome journey with you bud… I started watching the “Muted Marling” and everyone would agree your banter is 2nd to no one! Happy to see you come this far and continue to tune in every video. One day hopefully I’ll “snag” a special Marling Bait for my collection.
Would honestly love to see videos like this once a year......"2022 recap". "2023 recap", and just go through all the baits you made over the year. Would make for a great 30-60 minute video and give you a great opportunity to review baits you've previously made and learn from those memories. Can't quite remember when I initially started watching your videos, I think it's been a couple years atleast. Never stop what you're doing.
I've never seen a tier list video like this before! Its a physical list! I love the idea of continuing the series. As a long time subscriber, this is an awesome idea that I never saw coming.
"Let's not get sentimental " and then gets extremely sentimental talking about life before children and chip as a puppy haha watching this video made me realize how long I have been watching this channel. How the time flies. Thanks for sharing all the lure making with us. I always look forward to another video.
For as much as you hated the “melk” snake, I’m happy you did it. It was my introduction to Marling Baits and I’ve been subscribed since. Without that video I may never have found the channel.
I love this! The chipmunk was one of my favorite lures aesthetically, but that first One Day crankbait was both appealing to the eye and satisfying as heck to watch you catch fish with. Seriously looking forward to watching you (and most definitely Chip) work on the channel and your innumerable skills.
I got to watch a lot of these while I was in the hospital. Really enjoyed them then and now, made me want to go fishing again when I got home. Keep up the good work.
Man I absolutely loved this video, great to see all the baits I’ve seen you make over the years and can’t wait to see what you got in store for the future. Best of luck to you and the family!
It's not about the result but about the process. And when we put our love and passion into what we do it's always rewarding no matter the outcome. You're great at what you are doing and it's a pleasure to follow you on your journey
Worthy episode! Thing you didn't factor in was season...some are much more difficult to catch a fish in...same lures another time of year could easily be AFishial or OmegaFishial. Interesting reflecting on your growth as a maker and a presenter.
....and he's not taking into account that fishing doesn't mean that you are going to catch fish. When you get "skunked", the old saying "that's why it's called Fishing and not Catching" should apply to his rankings. Nates artistic talent (especially his spray painting) is crazy unbelievable. He is definitely next level. Being a very un-artistic person, I couldn't criticize him, dude is a freakin' genus...
@3:06 “Long long time ago, before we had kids…Chelsea could help me get action shots of the lure…” hahahahaha. Been here from waaaaaaaaay back! Trying to click them all to help support! ….and I want a shirt! Hahaha! Awesome!
Dude, the smart-ass look on your face!😂😂😂 I foresee your channel continuing to prosper. The fact that you're genuine, down-to-earth and enjoy what you do shines through! Congrats, not all of us are able to do what we love for a living.
The Angler Fish was the first video of yours that I watched. This is still one of the coolest lures that I have ever seen and felt horrible for you when you lost it. It is phenomenal lure that never had a chance to prove itself but definitely displayed your skills as an artist and lure maker. Definitely needs a higher rating or a different category created. Actually, this lure deserves to be remade!
My favorite Sunday morning vid! (Won’t say I watch it while drinking coffee n 💩)😬😂. 4 screws when 2 would do should tell everyone all they need to know when discussing Marling baits! Detail and excellence every time. Trying again trying to make my own baits shows me more and more your skills! Thanks for the inspiration!
great recap. Have to say, I love the bait making, love the catching, but it is, as you said, most official when it's different. we know crankbaits work, and you make some absolute beauties, but when you make a random creature, we're all rooting for it.
Hoping to see "gnarly bluegill" make 'Megafishal' top row. Loved that bait (and I know you did too!) because you refused to lose it to trees, rocks, snags. You put your body on the line to retrieve it.
Actually all the things you've done are amazing you can do more than what most people can do especially me I work with wood I do like knives and stuff like that you know handles all kinds of weird s*** but the depth that you get into is amazing so it should be all number one
I really liked seeing the history and progress going through the list. Hearing about the themes and slumps you went through. Would love to see the list continued. Keep up the vids, doing great!
This is a great video. I’ve enjoyed it highly. I’ve watched almost every One Day, and watch at least one of your videos every night before bed. So, it’s nice to see what you think about your own work. I generally like everything you build, with the exception of the Inline spinners (because they look like weird unicorns.) It’d be cool to see you do a video/s of you taking what you think are your 5 worst baits you’ve built, and remaking them with the knowledge you’ve gained since they were first made.
Ive just started watching and you've inspired me to try to make my own lures witch i try to watch your vids and figure it out but in all honesty i probably wont be able to make a lure that functions right but keep up the great work
WOW! Talk about a trip down memory lane. I guess I have been watching your channel from the beginning. I can't believe you still had the gator bait. I always thought it would be a great lure for here in Florida. Keep up the great work.
I’ve just got to say I don’t always watch you make a bait bc I’m an angler. You literally create art bro. I didn’t realize how long I’ve been watching your Chanel until today. Every one of those videos I loved watching and I can’t wait to continue watching your journey as a bait maker. Thank you for making all these baits especially those wall hangers like the shark. 10/10 would watch them all again.
I think you fished some of the failures at the wrong time of season. My suggestion is you try them again (a second chance) to redeem themselves. Then, if they fail again, they go into the sh*t can. I say this because there were several of them that were impressive lookers and look like they should work.
Your videos are extremely entertaining and it’s been so fun to watch your channel as well as your bait making skills grow. I think it’s really cool that you’re able to be so transparent about what you were thinking when you picked certain bait ideas and I would love to see another one of these videos. Thank you for the amazing work that you do. Tight lines!
As it goes...catching ranks in my book Nate, yet you're being hypercritical of yourself bro. You've taught us all lots of cool ideas, and I thank you! Maybe you could do replicas, pretty high priced wood ducks out there....fishing is no different
One of the content creators I follow said they were going to stop making a particular type of content based on analytics and that was a little bit of a bummer because I enjoyed that content. I like that your views didn't matter in the ranking. You're all about the action and the experience. Creating a lure that is satisfying to retrieve and gratifying when fish certify your effort has the purity of angler's intent. The "failures" have an artistic beauty that demonstrate that even with great skill and effort success is not always achieved. Making successful fishing lures, evidently, is a hard thing. That's a separate thing from getting views. You have such good character you could get views without demonstrating your talents I think. Keep up the good work Chip & Chelsea!
I feel memory could be a factor worth considering when ranking. Especially with the stipulations you’re putting on being official, it sounds like an official bait would be very memorable, both in making and fishing.
I’m only half way through the video and it is already one of my favorites. A great retrospective walk down memory lane. Still think you are one of the best creators on RUclips! Congrats great channel!
I actually very much enjoyed this type of video especially with the way you talked through it all and kept us updated on the ideas you had. I also loved the cuts with the puppy
Don't forget the catfish...that was probably my favorite when it came to paint jobs! It was spot on and looked the most realistic! Keep up the videos, hands down my favorite channel
I've only been watching for a couple of years, to me it's amazing you didn't talk at first in your videos. I find your commentary to be very enjoyable.
i like how fast you were to explain the engorged tick lol. imo all these lures all Omegafishal cause you made them and brought countless hours of entertainment and laughs to YT and to us. Thanks for all the content MB.
I love that you've been able to turn your passion into a career. Really envious & proud of you. You have an awesome talent, it's great that you've been able to find it.
Dude… I remember every single one of those videos! I even remember your first “talkie” video… I guess I found you at just the right time to watch things really take off!
This is amazing, been watching you for ages and it feels like yesterday that you were a hidden gem that I stumbled across. Love to see it going strong, and congrats man
I was thinking the same thing! 😁 So I couldn't agree more...
Representing the 2%'r I be👌😊👊...
Feel the same
Same!!!!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. This man is a legend
Same, been watching for over 3 years, such a hidden gem that suddenly kinda blew up while I was busy with life. Nice to be watching marling again

It’d be cool to see you do a video/s of you taking what you think are your 5 worst baits you’ve built, and remaking them with the knowledge you’ve gained since they were first made.
Hefty video natebates! On behalf of all the fellas and gentlemen thank you! I’m glad we made it through that first RUclips winter.
I would love this to be a series
The nostalgia in this video is awesome. 100 percent love your honest reviews of all your work
Ive just started watching and you've inspired me to try to make my own lures witch i try to watch your vids and figure it out but in all honesty i probably wont be able to make a lure that functions right but keep up the great work
Been watching for years now. I love the concept, can't wait for you to continue the rankings. The honest criticism was great.
great vid marling, i think you should make a platypus lure
WOW! Talk about a trip down memory lane. I guess I have been watching your channel from the beginning. I can't believe you still had the gator bait. I always thought it would be a great lure for here in Florida. Keep up the great work.
We need a Chelsea feather tied treble hook… when she has time.
True craftsmanship. Thank you for sharing your talents.
Definitely continue the series dude, so many good flashbacks and it's fun to hear about the "behind the scenes" parts of each video
Loved it! Lots of good memories, thank you for the pleasure ypu bring us Sir. Never stop be yourself Nate
Best regards
Tommy
I’m only half way through the video and it is already one of my favorites. A great retrospective walk down memory lane. Still think you are one of the best creators on RUclips! Congrats great channel!
I actually very much enjoyed this type of video especially with the way you talked through it all and kept us updated on the ideas you had. I also loved the cuts with the puppy
Holy cow that was a trip. There were so many lures that I completely forgot all about. Now I'm spending the day rewatching a lot of your videos.
Enjoyed the heck out of this! It was nice to take a step back and revisit all the past baits. Now I have to go back and rewatch videos lol
This is wild. I recall buying baits from you years and years ago lol. Now I watch you on youtube. Congrats brother you deserve it
Lol it’s so funny when you first started talking. Sometimes I don’t even watch what you are doing just so I could listen to you haha. Crazy
Excellent video! Your honest self-evaluation is what makes it great. Thanks!
The serotonin boost I get when I see a Marling Baits video is awesome!!!
Been watching for a couple years and I'm glad to see this channel only going uphill. Keep it up, man.
Always look forward to watching your videos. It can't be easy to rate your own work, but as they say you are your biggest critic
Dude, you and your videos are why I paint lures today. You taught, made me laugh and helped me believe that I could do it too. Thank you so much.
I been watching since all these videos were uploaded originally. Love the walk down memory lane.
You have gotten me thru so many winters here in Chicago. I appreciate this Marling summary
Awesome video and can't wait for the next installment. On to the next 50 baits 😀
“The action was sad” 😂 GREAT ORIGINAL GENIUS content!!!!
This is such a great idea and you should definitely make more of these! Love what you’re doing
It’s been crazy watching you grow man. Been watching for ages. This vid was a trip down memory lane. I enjoyed the format! Can’t wait to see 51-100!
I remember most of those lures. Didn't realize that I watched you from the beginning. But I love it when you carve and paint a wooden lure.
17:36 beautiful moment how she encourages you and just lets you give up.
I like this, it's nice to take a trip down memory lane and remember old videos and good entertainment 😁
Dinner ready, and a Marling Baits video uploaded.... Life's good!
I absolutely love this video! I remember watching every one of these videos! So glad you did this video! Thank you Nate!

i like how fast you were to explain the engorged tick lol. imo all these lures all Omegafishal cause you made them and brought countless hours of entertainment and laughs to YT and to us.
