God I love this song and have for a decade. I think it's my favorite song of all time. I come back to it when I'm out of sync or even when I'm extremely happy. This is my soul song.
this is a surrealist journey that kept my soul entertained and happy for the first time in a long long time, just as it lasted for the length of a song
The animation is great for the song, or the song is great for the animation :) This is art for the art, art for the expression of thoughts, no ideologic stuff behind, no preaching for the crowd. Reminds my teens, where I used to go to animation video shows sponsored by the city house.
This is how I interpret this video. This video paints the cycle of life, from childhood to adulthood, and what we must endure along the way. When the figure starts his adventure, the road stretches out, and a doorway is opened up. This part of the video represent the first step we take in our childhood. When we are young, we are giving the privilege to open up any paths we want to take and any doorways we like to explore.
actually Rasmus Stolberg from Efterklang (who by the way is me :-) has a first name he never uses! the first name is JENS! hello! but yes we are Danish (all of us - almost)
Wonderfull! It's great when you can close your eyes and feel every instument, voice, every sound in the song and just follow the music. I'm impressed:)
I've watched this video more than a hundred times. And it's been 16 years since watching it for the first time. I never liked the video nor the song. Yet, ever since watching it for the first time, I keep coming back to watch it, because I like the feeling and weird discomfort the video and music create...
For some reason this song/video reminded me incredibly of The Little Prince; so when I was done I reread it. Last time I read it was in 6th grade, glad I went back to it though; got enlightenment from it. Thanks, peace, laughter.
The best is when "he" runs through the woods, before he goes into the tree, you can see shadows in the background. Like something is churning in the horizon - it gives af really cool perspective.

Hey, I was lucky enough to interview the band and to get to film the best of their new songs tuesday night in Montreal. Just write ' Les Oiseaux Exotiques Efterklang ' on google, you'll find it.
Very creative. Lots of good ideas I can swipe when I start making animations. for some reason it made me hungry for fried eggs. Gotta go find the fryin' pan...
wow, wtf? lol... this video is prolly one of the best, and most random videos i've ever seen on youtube. I loved every minute of it. is this a show or something? or is it made by Rumraket? absolutely amazing video
Notice the joy when the trees grow... and notice that they eventually die, as the protagnoist begins to run... notice the confusion stepping though the door. Notice the happiness in the different world, yet the reluctance to stay... he returns to where he started... (from a friend o' mine)
@bokemstudios I'm Spanish and I would like to be Danish to feel that proud! :-) Amazing band! I saw them in the last FIB and I'm hope that I can see them again.

the first 13 seconds made me almost cry. the emotions are in every note of Efterklang's song.

how are you holding up bro? life treating you well these days?
My mom made a video like this in the 60s called, "Shut your front door, I'm leaping in!" It was a number one hit until reality set in. Good Job!
This is one of the few music videos I can honestly say I consider to be beautiful.
So glad to see Efterklang get the credit they deserve. Some of the kindest folk in the world. Be sure to check out their other music as well.
What a wonerful, magical journey.. What a beautiful song!
The video symbolized every aspect of life. The sense of curiosity, fear, loneliness, guilt and happiness.
It's so true, Max, we end up running the same circles in life - half the time thinking we're actually going somewhere.. Beautifully done!

I love the enigmatic figures moving around in the background, especially in the spooky woods. It looks like giants are back there watching him.

Why are Danish bands so consistently amazing?
