Be recording demo videos is incredible. I teach high school art and the time and energy I save by having students follow pre-recorded videos is insane! Students can work at their own pace, I'm not constantly stopping to answer questions, students don't get lost when I go too fast or tune out if I'm going too slow AND I don't get annoyed when I have to beg them for their attention. Students are more engaged, empowered and I can focus on helping them elevate their work rather than just saying "do this."

It is such a game changer! Interesting to learn it works at all levels.

This is very helpful! I recorded my demo the other day and I don’t have to repeat the process each time! We only did this during distance learning and watching this video is like an “Aha” moment! When my paper mache unit and whatever multi-step lesson come, I will definitely record instructions. Thank you!

Thank you so much for watching! A video for paper mache would definitely help you. It’s one of those projects where all during the demo they just want to get started on their own 😄

    Well Katie,
Pre recorded lessons go further in helping me more and really it is best if they are available on demand.
I hope that things are going well for you.

I started recording my lessons two weeks ago and it is a game changer, especially since all my art students are 4-5 year olds. I’m wondering if you have ever recorded your videos using your document camera or any other platform besides RUclips. I’d like to be able to share the videos for a substitute teacher, but currently I really don’t know how to do that. I’ve been using my Elmo document camera connected to my laptop and using the camera on my laptop to record Thank you!!!

Hi! I have recorded using my document camera in the past but prefer using my iPhone or iPad. I’ve saved videos to my google drive or an external hard drive but the videos are large files so moving them around it difficult. Files were to large to email to a sub for example. Using RUclips (unlisted) and emailing links to your substitute or embedding the link in your Google slides I found to be easiest. No one can search and find unlisted videos on RUclips unless they have your link so the videos are essentially private. I hope that helps!

I saw that you also use a wireless mic. Which one works best for you? I'm so excited to try this for my students! I love that I wont be forgetting to tell the third class something.

I use this one. It’s plug and play. amzn.to/3UkuzCGYou just plug it in and go! It improves the sound and cuts out background noise. I have also used my AirPods for this.

Not related to this video, but just a general question. How do you teach space and perspective to younger kids, 1st and 2nd grade. 2nd grade is tough when it comes to classroom management. What are good one point perspective projects for different grades? 1st and 2nd graders have a hard time using a ruler to make straight lines, so their projects have to be pretty easy, but I want them to learn the elements of art and applying them in a project.

I definitely build up to this. I am K-6 and don’t introduce perspective in detail until 3rd grade. In k,1,2 I have projects that reinforce overlapping and group line to prepare them. We also learn how to not making floating people or objects but how to make them appear they are sitting on the table or standing on the ground.
