In HK , my parent will drink tea and eat dim sums every week. Usually they can spend about two hours in the restaurant just chitchatting or reading newspaper.
Ooooh I missed those Dim sum feast! Yes there were 2 main style of serving you dim sum, one is they push a cart around, you stop them and they show you the various dim sum they have, and they mark it on your card. The other style is you have to walk to several main tables and they have all the dim sums on the table! Yes the old lady was speaking Cantonese, but she's friendly!

My ancestors were from 中山. Lots of 中山人 went overseas before the war, to the US, Australia, and of course Hong Kong. Glad to see that you have had a good time in 中山, having yum-cha in a typical Cantonese restaurant. Bravo.
I love dim sum a lot! Can't wait until there are vegan dim sums!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so fun hanging out with people at dim sums and drinking tea in the morning. Fresh and chilly!
It's weird because growing up, every Chinese person I met outside of China spoke Cantonese (Hong Kong, Vietnam, US, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.) but now everyone is speaking Mandarin. I love my Guangdong/Cantonese culture! Our food is bomb!!! Dim Sum is OUR food! FYI! Cantonese drink tea with EVERY meal. You don't have to ask in Gunagzhou. The Northern parts of China do not drink tea with every meal and you have to ask. Cantonese soup is very well known also

The part about rich people wearing slippers is so funny because it's so true about rich Chinese uncles. The richer they are, the more they try to hide their wealth by dressing down. Don't want relatives you never knew existed popping up so very often.

我们广东人如果喝早茶的话喜欢把早餐和中午饭合作一顿搞定了，有一点像brunch。年纪大一点更喜欢喝喝茶聊聊天所以你会看到很多人多喝茶而不怎么吃东西，年轻人一般就吃饱再说哈哈哈

在广东喝早茶一般其实就是为了吃东西茶楼提供的茶是为了去腻味没什么特别，如果你喝早茶不是为了吃东西而是为了品茶可以自己带好的茶叶过去泡然后再点东西吃这才是品茶。（喝茶要吃东西那是因为茶能去脂，空腹喝茶会伤胃）

There are many brands of Chinese tea in China. The best one is Wu Yi tea leaves (武夷茶). Mostly in Fujian, Hokkien province.

我是个出生在哈尔滨成长在广东（广州）现在生活在意大利人四面邻居家的中国人，可以说我从小就大江南北到处跑，没想到如今跑到了地球南方悉尼。
中山是个好地方，也是我们国父孙中山的故乡，那有许多出名的美食，中山的甜品🍰十分出名（沙弯）还有中山的饼。
告诉个广东人的小秘密给你，广东人饮茶，一吃就半天，而且还是许多肉食为主，为什么广东人不胖呢？
因为广东人以饮普洱，铁观音等茶为主，这些品种的茶是很好的脂肪饮料，广东人除了茶楼上喝茶，几乎所有时间都在喝，除了睡觉😴，所以广东人很难找到胖子，当然年青一代发胖的多些。

广东人喝茶是老人打发时间的地方,也是朋友聚会聊天,生意人谈生意的地方. 好处就是从早到晚都一直供应吃的,不会打烊,所以可以聊得比较充分. 通常一直到下午2-3点, 然后5-6点开始供应晚饭,有的会连宵夜一起开. 而有些酒店会开下午茶, 基本上就全天供应了.
一般喝早茶的茶叶都是比较一般的, 也可以自备茶叶,或者好一点的店可以选好的茶叶.
总之,广东人喝茶比喝酒多,不是商务场合一般都喝茶.当然也有朋友喝酒的,但那多半是有点酒瘾的.要么就是吃宵夜的时候喝啤酒.

广东不但有早茶的文化，街边的宵夜(北方叫夜宵)文化更多姿多彩。到了中山一定要吃一下鸽子。广东是吃货文化的大省会吃讲究吃。不时不吃(不是时节最好的材料不吃)，民以食为天这两句话在广东就能找到深刻体会(中山的鸽子顺德的鱼)
