When my 350 wolverine is TDC with the T visible in the hole on the side case, that line on the top gear is opposite the arrow on the valve body/head. Exact opposite position. Doe that make sense?
Just got a 2002 YFM250. It was sitting the woods for at least 4 years. The rope starter is all the way out and won't return. I pulled the cover and a lot of water came out. I tried to turn the crank with a big pry bar. Didn't budge. Tried to remove magneto, but the bottom screw head (#3 Phillips head) is stripped out. Any ideas as to the engine "seized" other than the obvious. Also any ideas to get the screw out? I plan to use a short piece of pipe to protect the case, then drill out the screen head. Your thoughts.
So, i have a bruin 250 that backfires sputters and dies when giving any throttle. After carb clean and rebuild its worse. Im guessing this may be my issue??
I know this is an old video but the gear between the starter and the flywheel is that backwards? on my 2000 bear tracker it is turned around where the smaller gear is facing inward towards the motor.
hello , I may have a silly question but have no experience with it. On the video, in bottom part of engine where flywheel , sterter clutch is .....should be oil there or not ? My bear tracker is pouring oil that way and I dont know what to check or change , if there is some oil seal between this part and engine ......? \Thank you
Wow very strange. I opened the sprocket cover (btw my engine looks very similar to yours but 400cc) and while aligning the rotor T mark (TDC) the sprocket round indentation was way off!! So i rotated it another 180 degrees and it was closer but man....at least 15 degrees off. I have no idea how the ATV was working smooth before.....chain is very tight so I cant see how the tensioner is faulty. zero slack in the chain. Any ideas?.... My unit only backfires on startup. no run
I tryed a puller that I have butt I have the one who gets it from the side/back and Its to big , not with bolds in the middle. Maybe I must try it now with the bolds
@@MattShaughnessy6 What brand puller did you use to remove the magneto? What size bolts thread into the magneto for removal? I have a 1998 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 starts and idles great, throttle has good response up to a 1/4 open, from 1/4 to full throttle it cuts in and out and has no power at all. I rebuilt carb, new spark plug, new air filter, new inline gas filter and fresh gas. I am trying to check the timing but haven't been able to remove the magneto. Please help thanks. I enjoy your videos, very informative.
@@jeremyrhinehart3517 Did you ever get your Magneto pulled? I'm trying to get mine off '99 Tracker 250 to check timing marks, etc. If so, how's you get it off?
my 11 big bear 400 idles too high when fully warmed up and dies in 50 degree starts as well as makes a ticking noise all through the rpm range do you think i have the same or similar problem
Shot in the dark here. The vent hose coming off the cover for the timing gear, where does that go? Does it go into the back of the carburetor? Thanks for any info
I have a 01 Yamaha big bear 400 put it in shop to have top end rebuilt guy put in the parts but couldn't put it back in timing are those the same marks as a big bear
Hi Justin! thanks for watching. I answer your question among many others in this video. thanks for watching and get a hold of me if you have any more questions......ruclips.net/video/M16zb0DGZco/видео.html
I appreciate your reply but I'm going back thru my timing and is the flywheel supposed to be on that key? It looks like your flywheel isn't going all the way back. Doing it the way you say I can't get the magneto on the shaft all the way for the case to go back on.. if I flip the little gear with the white dot on it around it fits perfect. So do you have yours backwards inn the video?
Oh ok.. I'm having trouble with mine. Idk what it is. It won't hit off start in fluid but it's in time . It's got good compression .. I'll figure it out eventually
Parts are hundreds and hundreds or n/a Timberwolf I have first year part #’s and parts are wrong for at the least CDL it’s a 225 in a 250 class. Jug reads 234 r something I looked it up and I’m pretty lost with it
It’s 91&92 only I found out almost completely rebuilt it wasn’t only a few hundred bucks. I was a little agitated back there still am a bit,on/off switch be here tomorrow and get a key aft that idk
Good job man . On your video. You didn’t bore me with too much detail. You stayed constant and right to the point.
Great video Matt!
It's called A Woodruff key and you need to get a set of brass punches, that way you can use to Brass to hit it in and you won't damage anyting
But he lives 100 miles from the nearest parts store
Awesome vid and bike and explaining
Thank you, fixed my 88 Moto 4, 225 with this
Great video man, thanks!
Hi Sir, I have a Yamaha BT YFM250X 2002. Would I need some sort of flywheel puller to remove my starter clutch?

Is this the same as a timberwolf

You explain everything verry well but how do you remove the flywheel , to bad I did't see that?
olli Olli I used a steering wheel puller to remove
I tryed a puller that I have butt I have the one who gets it from the side/back and Its to big , not with bolds in the middle. Maybe I must try it now with the bolds
+olli Olli I've also used 3 jaw gear pullers to pull them .

Two armed 17mm gear puller works great for me
