Comedy Central should definitely revive Insomniac with new comedians. not only was it a great way to check out some attell's stand up but you get to see a nightlife from major cities most people don't know..including the folks that live in those places.

This guy was the only modern late night host aside from Conan who wasn't just an insufferable toady or talentless hack. I didn't even watch him that much, but he is smart and pleasant and not too fawning with the guests.
The best comics never really get that big which I don't understand. Patrice, Attell, Hicks, Giraldo, the list goes on. On the other hand, Dane Cook became massive. Chris Rock and Chappelle did really well though, but they fell off quick. These guys like Attell remain funny for generations. Even Louis CK got better over time.
Dane Cook gets way too much flak. I totally get that he's not for everyone but any honest comic who saw him before he was famous will tell you that he would absolutely murder on stage. He would destroy the room before headliners and they wouldn't be able to follow him. He's a damn good comic, just not for everyone. Bill Burr, Ralphie May, Joey Diaz, they all said how good he was.
I think most people who hate Dane Cook didn't know who he was until Vicious Circle which was both by far less funny than his earlier specials and by far more obnoxious. Standing in a 360 degree arena and having to wait for his retarded audience to stop overlaughing at every single thing he did really ruined the special. I can see why people think he's an unfunny douchebag if that was their first and only exposure to him. edit: oh god just rewatching one of the bits from Vicious Circle now and there was literally a 20 second applause break after one of the punch lines that would have just gotten a normal laugh in one of his previous specials. Fuck that.
I agree with the trend but there are notable exceptions. George Carlin was funny for four decades (albeit in different ways). Dave Chappelle left by choice, and now he's back and still awesome. Bill Burr is pretty big too.

Tier 1 is Carlin, Pryor, Chapelle, Hicks, Kinnison, Attell, Rock, maybe Stanhope, Maybe Norm(sorta) Lenny Bruce (obv) And Bill Burr, Luis CK dont think I'm missing any. then tier 2 is Patrice, Bert kreischer, Ron white, Theo Von, Bo Burnham, Daniel Sloss, Mitch Hedberg and all the other comics who absolutely destroy but are not Goats yet, Diaz etc. or died to young RIP Patrice and Ralphie, tier twos are ones who people all respect, and comics respect, and they all know are better than themselves, even if they are in the same tier, tier three is Dane Cook, Kevin H, Rogan, people everyone either loves or hates, means they are good comedians but almost ALL great comedians still kill, they are loved far more than hated. tier 3s, are good comedians and have other things that make them either super popular or not very popular. and tier 4 is, idek cuz I dont remember people like Amy Schumer

Comedy is subjective. That's all to it. To me Craig is one of the fastest comedy minds ever. In this video itself, there's multiple times he comes up with something so ridiculous and on point. Few comics have that ability and Dave clearly is one of em. That's why they can riff and talk about nonsense while keeping it entertaining. "2 bears fighting in a foggy room". Come on thats funny. In context of course, just saying that waiting in line at McDonald's will make you look like an idiot. Craig's humor style is pretty unique. Similar to the great Billy Connolly. Which makes sense coz he idolizes Big Yin. It's very absurd, lots of body language performance and dirty dirty smut. I'll finish with the same phrase i start with coz that's all to it, comedy is subjective. There are people who find Amy Shoemer funny.

Just went to one of his shows the other night. He is literally a grizzled veteran of comedy. I had not laughed so damn hard for some time. He has the timing, delivery and material nailed down to a tee.
