The man’s a genius at taking bang average players and getting the very most out of them and 99.9% of the fans adore him for what he’s done for the club.
There’s not a manager on the planet that could have taken the squad we had in 2018 and done what he’s done 15th to 3rd, walking the Championship and then 9th in the Prem in 3 seasons.
Look at the form table for the last 10 games of last season, if we can replicate even a quarter of what we did there I’m confident we’ll be absolutely sound, we’ve just got a ridiculous amount of injury’s at the minute
Phillips (Euro’s finalist and one of best in world at his position)
    Bamford (top scorer last year)
Rodrigo (clubs most expensive signing), Cooper (our captain and 1 of the 4/5 CB’s currently out injured)
Lorente, Strujk and Cresswell (the other 3 CB’s)
Dan James (2nd most expensive signing) Shackleton (one of most promising young players and impact sub)
    Harrison (Vital player last year)
Koch (just back from serious injury and thrown in to play)
Ayling (just back from serious injury and thrown in to play despite being ill)

    • @leandroestrada2199
      @leandroestrada2199 3 года назад +2

I'd add to this that this group of players, with the exception of the recent hires (Rodrigo, Llorente, Koch, and Dan James) were nowhere at the level they've displayed under Bielsa before Marcelo arrived at Leeds. LU was considering SELLING Phillips and Cooper when Bielsa arrived and he said to Radz and Kinnear that he would make them the best players of the Championship in their positions. And so he did and more. Southgate was so marveled at Bielsa's work with the players that he took the risk of calling KP for his 1st cap while being a Championship player still!!!! This is not to mention others in the mix such as Bamford, Harrison, and Ayling, the first of which made it and the others aren't far off. And all this w/o mentioning that Ben White was a NOBODY before Bielsa and also made it to the England Nat'l Team and Nketiah would've been in the mix if he would've held onto Leeds a little longer. And I am talking just about English players...Meslier, Dallas, Roberts, Struijk have ALL benefitted from training with Bielsa. And Llorente and Rodrigo are still highly regarded by Luis Enrique. Tite thanked Bielsa for making Raphinha the player he is and now he's working wonders with Brazil...I could keep going.
Call me crazy, but this amount of injuries may end up working on Leeds' favor for next season if they manage to stay up. The youngsters are benefitting from this situation immensely and becoming better players as they get exposed to the demands of the Premier League. Cresswell is now wanted by top clubs. Gelhardt won't take much longer to become a top forward (ask Wolves). Sommerville is top, to the point of making people forget about Costa and Poveda which are still very good players. And others that are knocking at the door with good displays in Drameh, Bate, Hjelde and Greenwood to name a few.
I'd like to see Pep or Klopp taking a Preston, Bristol, or Birmingham to the heights that Bielsa has taken Leeds in 3-4 years time with the budget constraints he had. So much is his influence, that Carlos Corberan has Huddersfield in the playoffs mix and Diego Flores made an impression with a humble club in Argentina. And this is leaving his influences aside on Pep, Tuchel, Simeone, Scaloni, Martino, Pochettino, Zidane, and so on. So, yes: MB is a GENIUS!

MB is truly an owners, fans and players dream. No matter what happens this year he will be forever seen as legend in Yorkshire

It's all very well saying that you have to change the system but Bielsa has changed the culture of the club. At every level now within the club this is the way they play. If you watch the U23's they play the same pressing, man for man marking system. As far as Bielsa is concerned by the time the young players reach the first team squad they should just be able to slot in and play the system without thinking. It's all very well saying bring somebody else in but if anybody new comes in they will get a squad of players who have been playing Bielsa ball for three plus years try getting them to change is asking for trouble and lets not forget they would also be inheriting the same injury crisis. If they were getting hammered and the full squad were playing then you could ask the questions. But take eleven first team players out of any team, including City, and they would struggle.
Some of the pundits have said they should shut up shop and defend, just how do you do that when all your centre backs are out injured bar one who has not played since the first game of the season. Inviting teams on when you have full backs in the middle of the defence is a recipe for disaster. When the fixture lists came out at the beginning of the season we would have struggled in December even with a full squad.
Not too long ago Roy Keane said that all the very best managers are stubborn and won't change regardless of the results because they believe in themselves and they know their systems work.

Great to see pundits talking sense for a change. Just look at Leeds fan base and what they have gone through for the past 10 years or more. The club had better gates when in the championship than some Premier League sides. They travel all over the country in droves to support their club. The team have been savaged by injury this season. Recently they had 7 first team players available and the balance and bench were U23’s. There will be moaners who want instant success and shout sack the manager when we get a hiding. But Bielsa has brought life back to the club. He has probably overachieved last year with relatively little resources compared to the big boys. How well has changing the manager worked out for Man United...? Man City are a level above everyone and have hammered more teams than Leeds this season....yet they play the same “model” of football? The difference is they have had time and a LOT of money to get the team to where they are. Remember City are also a great club that has seen tough times in the past and like Leeds, their true fan base have stuck with the team though ups and downs. Bielsa will never be sacked by Leeds . He may choose to leave when he feels the time is right but I cannot see him getting pushed. When we get our players back fit we will give anyone a game. I also think that there are definitely at least 3 teams that are worse than Leeds this season so lets look forward not downward and get behind a team with great spirit that give their all regardless of the opposition.
