Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PES 2009, known as World Soccer: Winning Eleven 2009 in Korea and Japan) is a football video game in the Pro Evolution Soccer series, which was made by Konami. It is also the exclusive licensed game of the UEFA Champions League.[2] The Wii version is known as Winning Eleven Play Maker 2009 in Japan. PES 2009 was succeeded by Pro Evolution Soccer 2010.
Gameplay has been changed from previous versions for Pro Evolution Soccer 2009, with key additions to the Teamvision system, tactics changing according to situation, off-the-ball fluency, and AI recognizing strategies that works accumulating data on an ongoing basis within Master League and League modes. Another new addition is the readjustments for ball movements, with new air resistance calculations for the trajectory of the ball. There are also new friction routines to affect ball movement in terms of ground conditions, backspin routines are calculated so that ball slows accordingly, and the bounce of the ball can be used more effectively: players can flick the ball up to tee a shot, or to lift it over a defender's trailing leg. If a player has the ability, they will be able to perform skilful turns. PES 2009 also features a new game mode called 'Become A Legend', much like 'Be a Pro' from the EA Sports FIFA Series. This mode was originally only in the Japanese versions by the name of Fantasista, it was released as a special edition for J-League Winning Eleven 2007 Club Championship.

Lionel Messi and Andrés Guardado appear as the cover athletes of PES 2009. As part of the new agreement, Messi is featured on the cover of all versions of PES 2009, and also appears in promotional materials for the game.

@@victorcosta22222 Only thing that bugged me was that after a few seasons, almost every player was a beast, even the ones without any stars/traits. Had AS Monaco beat me a few times in the League and the European Cup

Have clocked all cup tournaments in this game on Top Player difficulty.
It's not hard as long as you manage your best players with subs! It's also very easy to exploit AI in this game with through balls and constant passing until there's space.
Something to note is that when a player is on the opposite foot, don't shoot unless they are in the clear without pressure. The game has this mechanic that makes them shoot too high if it's opposite foot plus defender is on them fighting for the ball.
Crossing is also very effective as long as you constantly check the map for where your strikers are. The more direct you are, the more defenders get caught out.
Goalkeepers are also pretty good in this game so it's good practice to shoot whilst in the clear so your shot is more accurate and lethal unless you run around them.
Lob through balls are absolutely useless in this game and don't bother trying it. Goalkeepers are usually onto those and your player usually kicks too far.
Corner kicks are also super easy to execute. Move the kick closer to the goal slightly and use 1/3 power.
Follow these tips and you'll be scoring 3-0 and 4-0 like no tomorrow. Unless the players form are bad then good luck 🤣
Seems like you are very experienced with this. I play Master League and I only win ONCE in one season, at that point i was so upset i quit playing it. Until now when i saw your comment. Hopefully it work.
@@mentasol9248 You just need to make sure you're not super risky with pressing defenders forward. Your players form will fluctuate and that impacts their ability to run faster, pass better and shoot better not to mention defend better too.
AI usually struggle to anticipate sudden nutmegs or change of direction as they are pre-programmed to cover and pressure you. The minute you are more clever with dribbling and passing, you will get anywhere from 10 to 15 shots on goal.
The most important thing is to get used to your players. Go into training mode and see what technique each player has when they are taking a cross, passing, corner kick, free kick or long kick. They all have strengths that can be very good.
Get used to them and take advantage of high stamina players as they will last the longest on the field and during the season. They become invaluable in a tight match late in the game.
Tournaments introduce added factors where the conditions impact player performances as well.
Adjust, adjust and adjust. The more experience you have, the less AI score.

I just want to add the effectiveness of fake shot technique. It is very useful especially with high speed players.
Also, as general advice, don't forget to read the instruction manual of the game. It always has some good descriptions of commands to use.
