Great vid. Will be setting up a shop in my new basement. And instead of all the piping I feel this will do the trick. Thanks for all the the information
Nice review and update. I've been debating what to get and the Rockler looks great, but it is so expensive compared to the Grizzly G0944 (at about half the cost, also a 1250 CFM with 1 micron canister). One advantage the Rockler seems to have is better wall vibration isolation, but I think I can rig something up like it. For me, the canister filter is a must because it filters down to 1 micron... most of the bags only do 5 microns. Either way, my plan is to hard line my main run to the machines with 6" schedule 40 PVC, then use the supplied 4" y-splitter to feed my two work areas (table saw / router and miter saw / drill press / band saw). The main hard run is straight, so I expect to not loose any flow and especially not so in the 6" run.
Good video, very useful info in my decision whether to buy the dustright. I would encourage you to replace the bag with the pinholes in it because they allow small dust particles to get into your lungs. Of course this is no problem if you wear a dust mask.
Just found your channel and have been considering this vac system. Is it a 110 voltage or 230 and what are your thoughts on setting it up as a portable unit that can be wheeled around the shop to different tools
Hola Sra. Katie!!
Glad to see the DustRight 1250 has been a good investment for you. The filter was definitely the way to go. I bought the DustRight 750, which is a mobile dust collector. I considered the 650, which goes on the wall, but I also wanted the filter and at the time, the 650 plus the filter was more than the 750. I also realized that I just didn't have the wall space to mount anything so, 750 it is! I got COVID back in Dec 2019 and after recovering, I was very sensitive to dust in my shop. That's when I started doing my homework. After watching dust collection videos from Stumpy Nubs and reading through Bill Pentz' material, I knew I needed to upgrade from my wet/dry vacuum and Dustopper set up. I am very glad I made the investment. My sensitivity may have waned over time, but I've also noticed the dramatically reduced amount of dust around my shop, aka garage, especially on the car that shares my shop space. I literally roll my 750 next to the car when I need to use my table saw and I have yet to see anywhere near the amount of dust on the car, after a day's work, that I used to get from my vacuum/Dustopper rig sitting in the same spot. I'm sure you've noticed the same thing with your 1250. The DustRight isn't the only game in town, to be sure, but I don't think you can go wrong with one of their products. Anyone out there looking to buy one, whichever model, seriously consider the filter. You'll be glad you did.
I completely agree! Adding the filter was definitely a must. Plus the original bag that came with the dust collector would have been a huge, dusty pain in the neck to empty all of the time. I’m pretty shocked that I’m still on the same bag with mine. I should probably look and see if I still have a backup, just in case I need to replace it soon😂
No. It doesn’t filter out larger items if that is what you mean. If you wanted a cyclone attached, you would want to do that before the impeller, outside of the machine.
Has anyone pointed out that when you empty out the dust bag inside your shop you then cause a cloud of micron particles back into your shop, which you have spent all this money to collect? Seems to me that you should advise your viewers to do this outside while wearing mask.
I had a different experience than yours, here's the review I left on rockler's site. LET MY MISTAKE BE YOUR WARNING, THIS THING IS JUNK! Spent ~$800 on this dust collector and filter, less than 2 years later it died without warning. I emailed Rockler to get some assistance troubleshooting, normally when I buy a piece of equipment like this and it stops working the manufacturer makes a tech available to help you identify the problem and order replacement parts. They did not care, I don't think they have techs to help if your machine breaks. I think they buy cheap chinese junk and have it labeled Rockler. Apparently nobody there knows how to troubleshoot when it breaks. Or they just don't care enough to help their customers. Both possibilities reflect poorly on Rockler. They suggested I hire an appliance repair person, but there are no replacement parts available to purchase even if we were able to identify the problem. Let my mistake be your warning, DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. They warranty is ONLY 90 days and they will offer you NO SUPPORT and have NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE and it WILL NOT LAST.
You just killed one sale- did you get new one and what brand if you did? I was ready to pull the plug on this one till your review.Just don’t like bad costumer service
Second actually, my uncle passed on this unit when he heard my experience too. I actually emailed asked for the wiring diagram to see if I could further troubleshoot my unit but Rockler CS couldn't be bothered to send it to me. Can confirm this is built in China after googling parts and trying to fix the electronics, but unfortunately electronics is not my talent. So I ended up bypassing the entire control box and wired a new remote control outlet I got from amazon directly to the motor (which was still good thankfully). My uncle bought the powermatic dust collector, he's happy with it. @@ZMK-155
3 observations. First, I see you are in the JET family, yet didnt go with JET for dust collection. Secondly, it is kinda ironic to talk highly about a dust collection system, yet the system is covered in dust. Thirdly, you make the big filter a waste with the way you empty your bag. All that fine dust going back into the air and your lungs. Thanks for sharing.
You are aware that dust collectors don’t collect fine particles right? You use dust filtration systems to take care of that which she likely doesn’t have. I have the same system and while it’s really good it’s not perfect. My is a bit different in that I have a cyclone setup for separating fine and heavier dust. Re the jet comment, I have a dewalt table saw and a dewalt vacuum yet I am a Milwaukee guy, just because you choose to be on another platform for other things doesn’t mean your forced to stick with it for everything.
Thank you. I am looking for a dust collector with a small footprint and this video helped more than the Rockler promotional video
I just found your channel and I Iove it! hope you will start posting more often because you’re really talented!
Thank you so much! I definitely will. I realized just yesterday that I have been slacking...a lot!
love the Estes Park sweater! I've been going every year since I was a kid (1974).
Great vid. Will be setting up a shop in my new basement. And instead of all the piping I feel this will do the trick. Thanks for all the the information
Thank you for watching! I'm happy to hear the video was helpful to you!
Great video. Looking to get a dust collector. I will have to look at Rockler now. Thank you.

What purpose does the large filter serve? Why not just have the dust go straight into the bag?

Best review out there. Maybe I missed it but is this the 650 or 1250? Thank you
Thank you so much! This one is the 1250

@@addicted2diy a "dust pump", as Stumpy calls a dust collector with a cloth bag.
Great job reviewing, the Rockler dust collector. Remember to wear a dust mask when emoting the bag! You only have 1 set of lungs…
Just what I was looking for thx
Does the air filter with the bag below act like a cyclone?
No. It doesn’t filter out larger items if that is what you mean. If you wanted a cyclone attached, you would want to do that before the impeller, outside of the machine.
helpful video!
So glad it helped!

The particle separator will lower the cfm by alot, it's not worth it.

put duct tape over the pin holes in the bag. it will last for years to come.
