The concept of a 6 litre biturbo V12 diesel is so unnecessary and stupid, and that's why i love it.
You basically buy this to say fuck you to all that see diesels as a damnation for the people that do a lot of mileage.

Yes its very silly indeed, the point of a v12 luxury car is smoothness, a diesel engine runs rough, v12 or not. Mileage is terrible, so why bother with a diesel? it sounds like any normal diesel too, no v12 screaming really. And its only avaliable in a q7, so it isnt really super fast eighter (imagine a rs6 v12 tdi..) still, its the only production car v12 diesel ever, and its a very cool engine. Still its a shame they didnt put it in a rs6, because then the fuel consumption is justified by the performance. And a v12 super saloon is a very cool concept.
@@importanttingwei7747 Not modern diesel engines. The old mechanical injection pump diesel engines can run fine with vegetable oils. But modern diesel engines with those complicated electronics. It will be a nightmare.

Some good old memories. What a beast of a car. 1000nm. On the autobahn it would flatten any incline and march forward like a train. Mine had the b&o system, till this say the best audio system i have exeperienced
Ikakusya I agree we had the 4.2 liter version and it was amazing for the time. Our car were fully equipped and looked so cool. Now we have the new Q7 and it’s also fully equipped and in my opinion the older one was cooler for its time witch is kind of sad :(

This car is a complete marvel of German engineering. Not just the engine, but the car itself. It's a tank, super robust, with a comfortable and spacious interior full of quality materials and craftsmanship. Whenever you step into the car, it still feels modern even 15 years later. Not to mention that it has a 5 star safety rating.

The days when German manufacturers just put insane engines in their cars~~ I mean 6.2L V8 in the W204 C63, 4.0L V8 in the E90 M3, 5.0L V10 in the C6 RS 6 and in the E60 M5, 4.2L V8 in the B8 RS 4 and the B8 RS 5, and this Q7 with a 6.0L V12 diesel~~

Dont forget that with the torque it has, it can do some pretty amazing 0-60mph with 4 people, bags, roof box and 750kg trailer.

The old body is so much better in terms of design and proportions. The new one got "dumbed" down (for the lack of a proper term) because of the Q8, an other Audi SUV made to look smaller than it is.

Yepp its the 7 speed from dsg, for audi, and it has a loooot of problems with the double clutch
@Jesús Fernández dsg and multitronic are from the same platform, audi just developped the dsg7 and called it multitronic

She seems to rumble all the time. I got the rear 2 in 2 out muffler taken off my 4.2TT TDi and replaced with 2 Stainless steel resonators.
It's noticeable when cruising but not loud.
Loud is from the lights or flooring it.
Still get less than 10 klm/hr as a highway average, though if I drive carefully I can achieve 8.3 klm/hr.
This is a 2008, with the 6 speed auto, the 8 speed would be lower consumption again.
Best vehicle I ever owned.
Next one either V12, more likely the SQ7 when the price is right as they are still stupid expensive.

This makes me kind of wish BMW would make a 4.0l V8 version of the current 400hp 50D Quad turbo with the same specific output per litre of displacement. You'd get 533hp and 1013nm of torque. That's engine that should be powering the next generation of X5/6 M50D. A shame it will never be made. Even if they detuned the engine back to 480-500hp it would still be a monster.
