This band it’s a life soundtrack of my real life
I had the blessed fortune to discover Julien-K when they were opening for The Birthday Massacre and Johnathan Davis in St. Louis. I was really impressed with their music and bought Death To Analog that day. Today, I spun California Noir Part One on Spotify and heard this song. I was absolutely enthralled by this song (as well as the rest of the album which is superb) and just kept replaying the album. I really love this song and am glad I found out about them.

After 3 albums in Orgy... I was and am ecstatic that Ryan and Amir kept it going in Julien-k. Love sharing them (Julien-K) with people, they had no idea what they were missing out on.

This is one of my favorite songs of the band. After years of listening, the meaning of the lyrics still escapes me. It sounds like surrealism poetry of Baudelaire or Apollinaire.

so what does photo voltaire mean anyways?
So I actually found this one out just today because I read an article about scientists turning glass into a photovoltaic material. Photovoltaic means that light turns into electricity. The glass, tellurite, gets semiconductors forming when the same kind of laser used in laser-eye surgery is shot at it. It can then produce electricity.
Anyway, I guess that means Photo Voltaire means the electricity from solar energy or the energy we feel from the sunlight, which is in the lyrics. Photos give us memories that capture our feelings and rekindle them, as time goes by. That's also in the lyrics, I believe. So maybe it's that warmth of the first sunlight on a cold morning that feels great, especially if you spent the night outside with people you love and can watch the sunrise with. Hopefully no meteors, though!
