Eric to Ridge: "If we cancel the organza, we lose the lace." Macy to Thorne: "If I don't risk my life, you will get the death penalty." These are the difficult situations facing the Forresters and friends today.
Ridge said he can’t go to Beijing right now because of the situation with Taylor.NOT because his brother is in jail facing the death penalty for murder.😂
So Thorne goes all the way to Mexico to get Anthony's confession, but doesn't think about bringing a hidden tape recorder or wearing a wire to record it. What did he think would happen? That the police would just take his word for it? At least it gives Macy the opportunity to drive the plot in a way she hasn't up until this point in the show. Thorne is very clearly too passive and clueless to be up to that task.
I agree it would have been the smart thing to do (and the safest for Macy in the long run), but I think *TJ* has a good point regarding the timing - Thorne was in a hurry to get there and his main concern at the time was "rescuing" Macy. Macy is the one who is rational and realizes that the police won't arrest Anthony just because Thorne and Macy say so. Thorne is willing to _break_ the law (escaping, saying he'll make sure Anthony "doesn't get a chance to tell his story to a jury) while Macy wants to bring Anthony to _justice_ by having him tried and convicted.
Brooke goes away to decide between Eric and Ridge. Ridge goes away to decide between Brooke and Taylor. Ridge goes away to decide between Brooke and Taylor (again). Blah blah blah.

Taylor, Ridge loves you, he just doesn't know it. Just wait and see. Don't be as desperate as Brooke, that's beneath you! Eric making a move on Taylor is disgusting! Macy and Thorne are not my favourite couple, but their chemistry is great.
I don't think Taylor is desperate for Ridge, I think she's just desperate to get her life back. No job, no friends. Besides her father she has no one in her life.
@@ambika66681of course she wants her life back, which is only legitimate, but sometimes she sounds desperate for Ridge, just like Brooke. But that's just not like her.
@@annieo6527 You know in a lot of ways, she's becoming Stephanie's _ideal_ daughter-in-law. She's a Good Girl and honorable and devoted to Thorne but she also has courage and she's willing to _act_ and do what needs to be done to save a loved one even if it involves deceit and going outside the law (Stephanie's "bold" qualities).
@@NewYorkNick0607 that is a _great_ point because it really "bookends" the entire Thorne/Macy story arc. Stephanie was the _one_ person who didn't officially show up for Thorne and Macy's first wedding, but after this storyline, she will make a point of approaching Macy before the wedding to welcome her to the family. By the way, I would say that Macy doesn't really go "outside" the law in this storyline because (as a Good Girl of the "Lawful Good" alignment) she isn't actually doing anything illegal - she's just turning herself into an extension of the law (basically an "avenger"), which is actually the opposite of what Stephanie usually does (that is, turning the law into an extension of herself) - but equally as bold.
*Macy explains her plan to Thorne (who actually listens)* This is a situation with Thorne and Macy that, had it happened a year earlier, would typically lead to another one of those fatal communication breakdowns (Thorne is again misunderstanding Macy's true feelings). But this time around, Macy is doing everything _right_ that she and Thorne did wrong in the past. When she overheard Thorne and Anthony, she didn't jump to any conclusions but stayed put long enough to actually get the full context of the conversation and learn the truth. When she pretended to reject Thorne, she signalled to him rather than simply let him believe that she had lost faith in him. When she came to see him in prison, she realized that he had not picked up on her signal, so she communicated the same message again, more clearly, to make sure that he understood her, and didn't let him leave the room without hearing what she had to say. These are the very lessons that would have saved their marriage if they had learnt them a few years earlier. So what we are seeing is actually some long overdue development and growth for Macy and Thorne as a couple. Then, after Macy explains her plan to Thorne, he tries to warn her against it. A year and a half ago, this plot point was subtly foreshadowed when Thorne was opposed to Macy working with Anthony and he told her that "you are willing to put herself in harm's way" (number 4 on my "palindrome list" from episode 1956). At the time, Thorne's main problem with Anthony was jealousy rather than genuine concern for Macy's safety, but in that one statement, he came closer to the truth than maybe he himself even realized. Now we're in a situation where Macy is *actually* willing to put herself in harm's way where Anthony is concerned, and again Thorne opposes her decision but can't talk her out of it. The big difference is that this time, Thorne _trusts_ Macy and ultimately decides to support her and stand by her, showing his character growth over the past year. And when he warns her not to let Anthony "lay a hand" on her (basically warning Macy not to sleep with Anthony), it's not primarily out of jealousy but out of concern for Macy's well-being. It also states the stakes of what Macy is doing - she will ve "dancing with the devil" and the question is how close to the abyss she can edge without falling down.
Wow I'm amazed day after day So these people are busy creating clothes and planning a trip to Beijing, Thorne is there wearing rags and eating dirts😂😂😂 Damn what a family
does anyone else feel the show has lost its spark and excitement of the early years? I am slowly losing interest (just like i did in the original airdates of the episodes)
I agree. The show is already boring and has Bad writing problems. Brad has already ruined the show. It's just getting more and more awful and ridicolous.
“The first night i met him he punched me out” uh Anthony that night says more about your character then it does his. How convenient you leave out the reason why he punched you because you was gonna sleep with his unconscious wife. And the fact that you use that night as a way to prove Thorne is capable of the crime you yourself committed is crazy
Exactly. Thorne walks into his home and sees a strange man standing over his (he thought was) sleeping wife in their bedroom. He could have been a burglar for all Thorne knew...
When Eric told Ridge that there is not anyone else they can send to Beijing, I thought they would finally talk about Thorne. But of course they didn't. 😅Ridge and his wives drama is more important - and talking about it helped Eric to convince Ridge to do what Eric wanted him to do.
Anthony is a very good li ar because he misleads everyone _by simply telling the truth._ His deception comes not from the facts he states, but the suggestions he plants about how these are to be _interpreted._ (It's a very Iago-esque move, by the way.)
I wonder if they ever caught Slash? 🤔 Meanwhile, Macy literally just said she heard Anthony confess to murder in front of the prison guard.. Soo. Wouldn't that make him a witness? And why wouldn't they go to Lt Burke? They both heard him confess...
Well I guess he's so determined to nab Thorne for _something_ that he won't believe it... But still.. For TWO ppl to say they heard Anthony confess and the prison guard saying he heard them taking about it, must trigger some kind of investigation...
@@TriniT21 LOL, Sally knows of _four_ people who believe that Anthony did it (Stephanie, Eric, Dylan, Thorne) and still she won't consider the possibility...
Did y’all notice how Taylor and Ridge matched in crème colored outfits today. I love how beautiful Taylor, rather subtly and seductively, removed her light weight over coat to reveal her also cream colored, body hugging clothing. Look Ridge. Remember me/us? Ridge needs to make a Venn diagram of wife assets. If he was smart, he’d see how Taylor is a better person/wife than Brooke. If he was smart. 🥴
"It'll happen. I will _make_ it happen." Macy is reaffirming her newfound Storyteller/Director ambitions here, as well as explicitly summarizing the essence of *Nick's* theory of plot control! In episode 2058, she took control of the plot, maybe for the first time. And today, she is setting the stage for what she hopes will be Anthony's final act. She is even creating a new character for herself, as we see her dressing up for the evening and introducing herself to Anthony as "Mace" (which amounts to a kind of intentional self-objectification and invitation to intimacy, because it's a nickname only used by people close to Macy when speaking _to_ or _about_ her, but Macy herself _never_ uses it, and it actually sounds *wrong* coming from her - as if she is seeing herself as an object through someone else's eyes).
YES. It's a very direct assertion of plot control. And Macy trying to record Anthony's confession also fits nicely with her being a recording artist. As you've said before, Thorne and Macy often use singing as a way to express their true feelings and here we have a plot that can only be resolved if the killer expresses his true crime and it's recorded.
@@NewYorkNick0607 yes, and it also fits into the theme of tape recordings being used to shape Macy's fate - the tape she recorded to Thorne but which was intercepted by Bill Spencer (leading to her alcoholism), the tape of her and Thorne singing that she mistakenly sent to the studio (leading to their singing career and reunion), and now when she tries to take control she does it by using recorded sound. I have said before that the overarching theme of Macy's _entire character history_ is "trying to make her voice heard", and this fits right in with that theme. It is her own personal variation of that "indirect communication" theme that you have outlined on many occasions - other characters do it by writing letters (that can then be intercepted), and Macy does it by recording tapes (which can _also_ be intercepted).
Another really nice touch I just noticed - the music cue that plays as Macy is getting ready for her date with Anthony is the same one that plays in episode 2030 when Anthony _daydreams_ about Macy falling for him. So the character she is creating here is _Anthony's fantasy version of Macy._ She is trying to control him by _literally_ "making his dreams come true."
@@annieo6527 Great observation Annie 👍👍 Going back to that quote from Macy ("It'll happen. I will make it happen.") I just realized this is exactly the kind of thing _Sheila_ says all the time, denoting her ability to shape the plot and her awareness of her own powers. It's interesting to see a Good Girl use that affirmative language in order to take control of the plot. And this goes to your point about Macy creating a new character that fits Anthony's fantasy -- it's all very manipulative and trickstery, traits we'd normally more associate with a character like Sheila than Macy.
Okay, today the second night with Omar and the on way window gets mentioned. I had wondered if the writing would ignore that one, when Taylor some episodes ago told Ridge that she had believed that Ridge had forgotten her.

Sally is, saying this bc she doesn't know what Lt Burke knows (but could never prove) about Thorne
OMG! A lace and organza emergency!!!!
Eric to Ridge: "If we cancel the organza, we lose the lace."
Macy to Thorne: "If I don't risk my life, you will get the death penalty."
These are the difficult situations facing the Forresters and friends today.
@@annieo6527 And then Maggie calls and Thorne falls even lower on the totem pole.

In his defense everything happened too fast. I don't think he thought Anthony would confess. He wanted to get Macy away from him
I agree it would have been the smart thing to do (and the safest for Macy in the long run), but I think *TJ* has a good point regarding the timing - Thorne was in a hurry to get there and his main concern at the time was "rescuing" Macy.

Since they are from 1995, I will never finish the entire series as long as I live with only one episode per day.

Such serious matters to attend to at FC today. Extortion over shabby organza cancellation.
At least FC is not threatened by Thorne’s “issue”. No immediate action needed.

It's strange how they never had Eric lust after his ex sister-in-law. She's the perfect candidate for a damsel in distress. He can't relate to a parent missing their child 10:14
They really thought nobody would notice Stephanie absence? Have someone among the characters explained her absence? It was not so difficult.

I have concluded she decided to voluntarily go back to being homeless🤷🏽♀️.. Bc there is nothing that makes sense in her absence all this time in these stories
She was trying to determine the paternity of Jessica's baby roses.

I miss Stephanie…
Macy's IQ must be higher than Eric and Ridge's COMBINED.
Yep
She also has more ⚽🏀 that the two of them combined.
*Macy explains her plan to Thorne (who actually listens)*
This is a situation with Thorne and Macy that, had it happened a year earlier, would typically lead to another one of those fatal communication breakdowns (Thorne is again misunderstanding Macy's true feelings).

And the fact that you use that night as a way to prove Thorne is capable of the crime you yourself committed is crazy

Annie, you kill me with your memory and analysis. Thanks for sharing your B and B brilliance. You and Nick add so much to this comment platform! 👏🏽👏🏽
