My girlfriend wanted to do this mod but she used a wall to take the cap off instead, was super quick tho would definitely recommend

I had a motorcycle lane splitting and helping to remove mine too!
My mom did the same on her golf, but she did it backing out of the garage. Clipped the garage door strut on the way out, which caused the door to shut, leaving fashionable scratches on the roof. Two mods at the same time, talk about efficiency!
you can also tilt the glass all the way down with the door controls and reach the two tabs to release the cap vs removing the glass itself!
but what about the blind spot sensor?

Hello, i broke the upper cap and also broke some of the lower covers notches, even i changed the upper cap with replacement one it doesn't fitted as it used to be? So should I really remove the main mirror to do all these stuff, because I didn't removed the mirror in first place putting the replacement upper cover or cap, İ just tried to fit it with light force
Got to admit the first thing I noticed on the car was the crap looking silver mirror caps. Glad you were ahead of it and swapped them to black, looks mint!

Can you post the part numbers for genuine VW black mirror caps? The only ones I have seen are Chinese.
I would love to know where these caps are from. I can only find them from ecs and they don’t have reviews yet which makes me nervous (because their return policy sucks)

The first mod I did was removing the back seat head rests. And unlike the MK6R you can remove the middle one too!

Never understood the silver caps on golfs.. my 7.5 came with paint matched caps and they didn’t charge me for it thankfully

You should post more like these!
While you're in there make sure to grease the spring in the pivot it rotates on. That'll get rid of that future grind-click-click-click sound when your mirrors go in, that all us VAG car owners have to contend with. You have to take the cover off to get to it, so may as well kill 2 birds with one stone. Don't use WD-40 either, try a water resistant light grease or silicion lube that'll get in there, but stay as this gets water through it from rain etc. WD-40 just washes out pretty quick. There's a square drain hole at the bottom of the spring hosing it all comes out of. Then smoothness hmmm.
Love this car and what you have already done to it. The colour is insane with the full black wheels, love the grill light bar and can't wait to see some mad driving footage. You killed it with this one Moog!!!
Since everyone has asked but no one has replied, there are no official OEM black mirror caps with the cut out for blind spot sensor in the US. There are OEM without the blind spot but if you want one with the cut out you'll have to secure a quality knock off.
I just got my 2024 yesterday & im terrified to remove the cups myself, since my model year has power folding.

Seems like it might be cheaper and easier to just wrap the stock caps

Hey Marty and Moog I recently bought my first car and I’ve got a video suggestion that might help people in similar situation to me which is how do I figure out which wheels will fit my car and what tyres are best
look for other people's build online...there should be people who own the same car and are running aftermarket wheels.....but a safe bet (depending on make and model) would be the same size or 1" up, with or without a width increment

Just done this on mine. Previous owner tried to wrap the silver ones and they looked garbage, so I've replaced them with gloss black covers.
Recommend to remove the glass. You can get the clips without removing the glass but getting the new covers on might be a pain. They didn't click in place for me so I had to use a pry tool to push the hook in place. If you're gonna remove the glass get your hands behind as much as you can and aim for the centre of the glass. Too much force on the outer and you'll shatter it.

Is it weird that I watched the show, then came here to watch the ad for the show I just watched? I feel like I was reverse-raped? Is that even a thing?
