You are right and I feel so bad for them... You can see how they are acting when someone is perfoming, trying to look like they're enjoying the show, but in neutral way. Not only bts, but also other artists, they are so affraid to show any emotions because of the drama. The moment when bts came, you can see that everyone are pointing their phones at them, people are watching their every move from the begining to the end, even when they are just sitting and doing nothing, it makes me sad. It was literally like a cage for almost 5 hours, people acting like they are not humans but some kind of different beings, a sensation. And all they can do is smile to this cameras, they can't even fight against it.. I can't even imagine how tiring it is. So yeah guys, being an idol is not a fairy tale with a lot of money, love and happiness, it's definetly darker

God, that last conversation really rang so true... I have a friend who was on a K-pop survival show and almost became a trainee in a fairly well known company (but not Big 3), and the stories she tells me of her friend who is a debuted idol now is just insane. The amount of pressure they have from the outside (fans/sasaengs, media, internet, etc) is crazy, but the internal pressures from the company (if you don't have a good company) is equally insane, if not worse. The pressure to look a certain way, to maintain a strict diet and weight, sometimes starving & overworking, to constantly perform and memorise lines and present yourself perfectly is inhumane. Idols don't get paid very much either, especially if they're not Korean citizens. There are companies who will also turn all the blame onto the idols if a comeback doesn't make them enough money/not successful enough - even though the company made the song/concept/dance etc for them. The physical and mental pressure could make anyone break down. I actually met BTS before, in real life once. It was in Tokyo, and Jin and Jimin were shopping for anime figurines (they're all huge weebs/nerds lol) the day before their Tokyo concert, and I met them in a shopping arcade while walking around with my friend and sister. But I knew as an ARMY that they needed their fucking alone time, that we left them to shop. We just did our own thing and they did their own thing for like half a day, they were just shopping around the same area as us. I talked to Sejin their manager and the boys looked at us a few times but that was it. People always ask me why I never took to the opportunity to talk to them and interact, and we always get asked "didn't you freak out!?! you should have followed them or got a picture". Yeah of course I was freaking out, I've been ARMY since like 2014/2015, their music has touched my life so much. But honestly I am happy to not have bothered them on their day off. That they got at least a bit of relaxation, and some semblance of normality, and being treated like human beings for once. Also we knew if we had made a fuss they'd have to leave and their day off would be ruined. It's honestly my proudest achievement as an ARMY. I got ice cream with my sister and freaked out afterwards, but during those times I'm glad we were able to give them precious relaxation time. Idols don't deserve to be treated like zoo animals. We need to remember that they're humans, not gods walking the earth. They're just like you and me, they just have better stylists.

It's rude to constantly shout your bias name even when there's other group performing or even receiving award. That part about the 'zoo' was so true! I always feel so torn when watching tons of BTS videos etc and I wouldn't know how to act at an award show like this, because on one hand, I love these guys from the bottom of my heart despite not knowing them personally and I want to know so much about them, but on the other hand I'd feel so guilty because I'm invading their privacy and they deserve as much of a normal life as possible, but on the other other hand they kinda signed up for this by becoming Idols, but then again, the fact that loosing your privacy is part of making this kind of music is pretty disturbing.

True. When I saw comments about how Jimin ran away from Charlie when he sat beside him I felt s bit offended (I know it might be a joke but still...). Alison Dennise You know what I find that even though BTS is under that microscope also they are a little different from the other idols who sit there with their back so rigid like they can’t even enjoy another artist music. BTS is totally different. If they enjoy something they are rocking in their seats. They are moving their head, hands or feet. I have seen them at award show actually standing and dancing to some other artist music. They appreciate other artist work and not afraid to show it, but I think that it not the other artist's fault. It's their label that they are under. Restrictions, they are not allowed to be themselves. They are always the proper ladies and gentlemen. As for the behavior of the fans being rude. Yes I have thought of that too. The fact that big hit allows bts as artists more freedom to enjoy the other artist work. However, I cant talk about the other company’s as I don’t know what they restrict or their values so I just speculate. So it must be hard for other idols to enjoy their time in award shows. They’re doing a great job though, being an idol is a tough job. Compared to western artists, idols have to endure much more sadly. And yes! Those fans pissed me off for their disrespectful behavior. It’s hard to ignore that type of behavior. I can just imagine what would go through the artists minds as they can hear everything. >:/
The car conversation reminded me of something Jin said. In a recently released DVD, BTS were asked to mention moments where they felt proud of Army and Jin's answer was "when they not only cheer for us but also for other artists who are performing". What you said gave even more context to his answer. Clearly even the artists themselves feel embarassed if their fans only cheer for them and no one else.

I like that you did not sugarcoat the fandom culture of Korea. It’s been that way for years and years and I wonder why it’s been accepted by society. Idols are human too, they are not animals or non living things that other people can own and manipulate. I know BTS is exhausted but I’m pretty sure they are well taken care by their agency more than other idols do but still BTS are still human and have emotions.. After your comment at the end of the video I started to feel soo bad for all idols not only BTS. It must be horrible when cameras are constantly focused at you and you have to keep a perfect act. Especially the girls, their reactions are always seen much more critical and people analyse every little detail they do. Idols can't even scratch their nose without being conscious about it. What if they had a small stone in their shoe that even hurts? They can't just take their shoes off when literally hundreds of people are looking at them. I could *never* be an idol. I hate getting attention, I hate being social, I hate having to talk to people but that's what they do every day always. I feel pity but mostly loads of respect for them. I like it when you voice out what kind of life idols literally have and how fans react to them on stage. They have to act normal even if they aren't okay deep inside. It's really hard trying to ignore all those people around you and just focus on putting on your best face in front of them. Every move is being shot by the camera and recorded, so they need to be careful on everything around them. Yeah, it's never easy to be an idol.

I always feel so torn when watching tons of BTS videos etc and I wouldn't know how to act at an award show like this, because on one hand, I love these guys from the bottom of my heart despite not knowing them personally and I want to know so much about them, but on the other hand I'd feel so guilty because I'm invading their privacy and they deserve as much of a normal life as possible, but on the other other hand they kinda signed up for this by becoming Idols, but then again, the fact that loosing your privacy is part of making this kind of music is pretty disturbing.

Alison Dennise You know what I find that even though BTS is under that microscope also they are a little different from the other idols who sit there with their back so rigid like they can’t even enjoy another artist music. BTS is totally different. If they enjoy something they are rocking in their seats. They are moving their head, hands or feet. I have seen them at award show actually standing and dancing to some other artist music. They appreciate other artist work and not afraid to show it, but I think that it not the other artist's fault. It's their label that they are under. Restrictions, they are not allowed to be themselves. They are always the proper ladies and gentlemen. As for the behavior of the fans being rude. It's a shame that it goes on. Lack of pure ʀᴇsᴘᴇᴄᴛ.💦
Yes I have thought of that too. The fact that big hit allows bts as artists more freedom to enjoy the other artist work. However, I cant talk about the other company’s as I don’t know what they restrict or their values so I just speculate. So it must be hard for other idols to enjoy their time in award shows. They’re doing a great job though, being an idol is a tough job. Compared to western artists, idols have to endure much more sadly.
And yes! Those fans pissed me off for their disrespectful behavior. It’s hard to ignore that type of behavior. I can just imagine what would go through the artists minds as they can hear everything. >:/

In a recently released DVD, BTS were asked to mention moments where they felt proud of Army and Jin's answer was "when they not only cheer for us but also for other artists who are performing". What you said gave even more context to his answer. Clearly even the artists themselves feel embarassed if their fans only cheer for them and no one else.

I like that you did not sugarcoat the fandom culture of Korea. It’s been that way for years and years and I wonder why it’s been accepted by society. Idols are human too, they are not animals or non living things that other people can own and manipulate. I know BTS is exhausted but I’m pretty sure they are well taken care by their agency more than other idols do but still BTS are still human and have emotions.. I just wish them good health (physically, emotionally and mentally), coz based from what you explained they really need it a lot.. lots of love for BTS coming from all international armys..

After your comment at the end of the video I started to feel soo bad for all idols not only BTS. It must be horrible when cameras are constantly focused at you and you have to keep a perfect act. Especially the girls, their reactions are always seen much more critical and people analyse every little detail they do. Idols can't even scratch their nose without being conscious about it. What if they had a small stone in their shoe that even hurts? They can't just take their shoes off when literally hundreds of people are looking at them.
I could *never* be an idol. I hate getting attention, I hate being social, I hate having to talk to people but that's what they do every day always. I feel pity but mostly loads of respect for them. I hope it doesn't get too much on them.

I like it when you voice out what kind of life idols literally have and how fans react to them on stage. They have to act normal even if they aren't okay deep inside. It's really hard trying to ignore all those people around you and just focus on putting on your best face in front of them. Every move is being shot by the camera and recorded, so they need to be careful on everything around them. Yeah, it's never easy to be an idol.
It was seriously so sad to watch that kind of stuff. I wish they could be natural and with no pressure at least when theyre not on stage.
