@@davidbaguetta127 I dunno. Getting eaten by a chaos eater or the centipede demon and getting shredded by a flexile sentry or getting laser beamed to death by an angel seems pretty physical to me.
Quick silly story. This is the very first time In my life I can remember being really scared of something & then deciding to face the fear. I was 5 or 6 when the game came out and it was so amazing looking I wanted to play it. But for whatever reason , the game over animation scared me to death. That pale green face & that rotten look scared me so bad that for a time I wouldn't even walk up the same row it was in at my arcade. At some point tho I remember just saying f*ck it and going for it. It became my favorite game of all time.
While I was not even born when this game came out, I remember this game speaking me the way many old games do. When I picked it up on dsiware when I was like, what, 13 or 14... maybe 15, the game kicked my teeth in like you wouldn't believe, and yet it quickly became my favorite arcade game of all time before I played Crazy Taxi.
@@megatennepster3833 I can't even guess the amount of money I put into this game before I beat it. But when you were good at DL you always drew a crowd.
@@luvmenow33 I feel like if I translated the amount of times I'd replayed DL into dollars, I might have singlehandedly driven the entire county into poverty from this game alone. I am astounded by the people who beat this game on three Dirks.
Mine was Halo, the flood mission, the music had me being cowardly when they showed up, and it took me muting the music to get out of that room you find out what happened in.
@@silverseth7 OH HELL YEA. LOL. What a mind blowing experience that game was. I remember spending hours with my friend trying to get through the library on legendary
Damn! I have never seen the beta scenes in my life before, including early versions of various scenes, an early game over animation, scenes missing from the final release, and others. Interestingly, each scene comes with its own slate. You must pause it to view the slates, because according to the slates, the game was on production since Febuary 1983!
Every time Dirk the Daring dies, before he turns into skeleton bones, he just stares at you arms crossed in disappointment like he's telling you, "Damnit dude, don't keep killing me off like this! YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT! GET SKILLED TO NOT GET ME KILLED, MAN!"
Even main characters in Dark Souls and Planescape: Torment didn't go through such tortures as this guy.
Ds and pt is more about psychological torture

I understand why he's called "Dirk the Daring."
All of Dirk's deaths in Dragon's Lair are hilarious. 😂
