I definitely felt completed overwhelmed in Fusion at first. But thanks to Casey and Alex, along with some of my own sweat and tears, I'm able to get into the fusion page, do some light color grades, mask things decently, fly through text, use fast noise for SO MANY things, as well as many other things. It's not an insurmountable climb, you just gotta climb a little bit each day.
Is using resolves built in color management better than adding a CST node? Right click on the clip in color mode -> input color -> choose arri and ur set
It's the same thing, there are just things that happrn behind the scenes that are hidden from you, and you just have less control of exactly how it's applied, which is why I like CST. If it works for you, go for it!
So what if our camera doesn't have any info on "Input Color Space" and "Input Gamma"? I'm just learning things right now and am using Open Camera app on my cell phone. Nothing in the settings info mentions these things. Thanks!
@Casey I have been trying to color manage my footage. But I have no idea where to find the Input Gamma 😅 I bought a Sony A7R III from Alex but I'm still very new to using it. Can you please help me figure it out? Pretty Please 🥺
Hi Casey, beginner to Resolve/Editing. I have bought a drone and want to add music (using IMack) and of course iTunes will not allow to add to the Media Pool, I have some old WMA files can I convert some how my old music or access some other source? Thanks
Your energy and expertise is awesome: so motivating, reassuring, even inspirational. Thank you for guiding noobies through the learning process with Da Vinci and other resources!
Id be curious to see some videos about fusitand the color page, particularly how the color doesn't necessarily correlate to whats done in fusion due to order of operations and a few other "gotchas"
Thank you Casey! It is very helpful! May be a question out of topic. I read in some groups that it's possible to install Studio on top of free version with Davinci 18.6 That way it keeps all your settings, etc. What are your thoughts about it? Or it is better to go the old way, delete free and install studio from scratch?
Okay, after about five months I realized that I had not previously subscribed!😥 You are a good teacher, Casey. Thank you for speaking the truth about, 'You can Do it'!!
I’m quite advanced user, so nothing new for me! For me this video important and interesting, cause you say really right words, and show the thing! That’s very important! Great work!
Amen on the putting in the effort to do this thing that evades so many people and that's..........training! Too many babies on here think they just need to watch a youtube video and then it's like the Matrix and they suddenly know Fusion.
should I increase my laptop screen brightness to 100% while doing this color stuff? because one day I was doing color correction and my screen brightness was at 10% so I added lot of brightness into the video. But later I found out it become too much bright. How to deal with this problem?
Some laptops and monitors come built in with display profiles. I would start there and try not to touch any settings. From there you sort of have a rough gauge of how the colours will look like as you grade. The most sure way to know is to use a calibrated monitor though.
Great video Casey, when I upgraded my Pixel 7 to a Pixel 8, I was so disappointed with the first video. Faces looked grey and everything was so unnatural. I guess Im going to have to fight it out with DaVinci Resolve to sort it!

"You will get better!" Great advice Casey, keep on keepin on folks.
At 5:56, why do you use "Rec 709" for Gamma output? Usually "Gamma 2.4" is used...
Thank you Casey,
Great tips and inspiration. Really enjoying your videos.
Thanks for the insight man! If you're on an apple studio monitor do you still set the output Gamma to REC 709 or REC 709-A in the CST?
I think it would just be rec-709, but I'd do some googling if I were you. Sorry haven't used Mac a whole bunch.

what are possible input gamma for footages shot in gopro and what are
LUTS one would use if footage was from it?
I use a GoPro Hero 9 for filming. What setting should I use for Input Color Space and Input Gamma.
Excellent video! Appreciate that color management tip and the added inspiration.
When using an iPhone 13 for recording, do you have any advice for color settings? Thank you in advance!

Oh and if you have any tips on getting vector line work from exisiting art (logos ) into resolve as working vectors - love to hear it.

I love your pep.
Thank you.
what if we use the footage from 8bit crop body DSLR camera. How can we use this Transform ?
Does Davinci have a colour space for non-professional cameras, like smart phones and pro-sumer level cameras?
Thank you so much. Still scared of the fusion node :D
Nah u got this. Take that 9 nodes workshop, it'll start to make sense.
great video!! going to revisit your color page crash course today! Have a great one!
You're a big inspiration! I really like your videos! I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you for all your help and support!
Practicing everyday is key for me.
Oh yes ...thank you ..text and steam is so simple but has a great "subtle" result for the over all viewing experience.
Another helpful advice. Thank you. You are on a roll.
Awesome as usual!
You should show how to work with groups. Not many RUclipsrs talk about them.
In this example, it would be greatly beneficial.
Thx!
