    Maybe it’s because landing in Hyrule Field at the end of the tutorial messed with my sense of geography, but I can’t look at the Great Plateau in TOTK the same way I did in BOTW. It’s as if Ganondorf’s taint has sullied it and has given it a completely different vibe from what it had in the previous game.

      Considering the Great Plateau was now in dangerous territory in TOTK where it was the tutorial area in BOTW was a big change up.

      I think this side by side actually leads some credence to the theory that the Upheaval curse that rotted weapons removed the Sheikah shrines and technology. There's NOTHING there now. Having said that though, it's kind of a flat fan theory; Purah uses a lot of Sheikah tech still, so that kind of disproves it. I think ultimately, Nintendo didn't want to have Sheikah stuff in when Zonai was the new thing, but damn does it feel lame to not have at least a few more nods to the previous game

    There is a solid theory that explains why all of the Sheikah technology disappeared in Tears of the Kingdom. The theory goes that in the time between the two games, Zelda realized that the Sheikah technology was dangerous because it was too easy to corrupt and manipulate by Ganon's "Malice" and feared that a similar evil power would arise in the future and once again corrupt and manipulate the Guardians against Hyrule. So Zelda organized the people of Hyrule and their tribes to help her bury and dismantle all of the technology. With the help of Purah and Robbie, the Sheikah towers were deactivated and thus they were re-buried underground along with all of the shrines, and the divine beasts were also deactivated and hidden underground. The guardians were called back to the pillars surrounding the castle and stored (In the book creating a champion it is explained that the guardians were stored in those huge pillars surrounding the castle that are seen in BOTW more precisely they come out of those red dots that are seen on the pillars) with all the active guardians stored the pillars were deactivated and reburied underground, and with this in the following years she and the tribes of all Hyrule dedicated themselves to collecting, dismantling and destroying all the remaining ancient technology (meaning all the deactivated and destroyed guardians that were scattered throughout Hyrule) and by the time that TOTK starts there is almost nothing left because all this collection of deactivated guardians took years, but it was completed. Zelda was absolutely right, because when Ganondorf woke up the first thing he did was exactly what Zelda feared, spreading his power, the "Gloom" throughout Hyrule, further corrupting the evil creatures that already existed and causing new, even more powerful ones to appear. If at that time the guardians had been active as happened with Ganon's Malice, now Ganondorf's Gloom would corrupt and control them. The Yiga clan was not far behind and also collected and dismantled some ancient technology (As seen in the Shrine of Life, they even took out the walls). This theory, added to the corruption and decay of weapons due to the Gloom, can perfectly explain why there is almost no Sheikah in Hyrule anymore, since only Purah and Robbie have access to Sheikah technology and what you have is quite limited. In fact, the only guardian left in all of Hyrule is the deactivated guardian above the Hatelia laboratory that belongs to Purah.

    • @dr6770
      @dr6770 21 день назад +3

      Great, now if they only put that stuff in the game and given us some lore collectables to learn about instead of us making up our own theories. But no, they wanted to do the little possible to fart out roughly the same game and charge $70 for it. SMH.

    • @legadomerrick5301
      @legadomerrick5301 21 день назад +1

      @@dr6770 Exactly, I suppose that during the development of the game Nintendo decided to leave everything up in the air because in the end they couldn't come up with a logical way to explain this and also include very little references in the game. This theory that I leave is that, just a theory but it makes a lot more sense than simply making all the ancestral technology of the Sheikah disappear out of nowhere. The only way that absolutely all the guardians, towers, shrines and divine beasts have disappeared in those years is if Zelda and the people of Hyrule have actively collaborated to achieve it (How could they have found and gotten rid of everything? Easy, through Link because Link is the only one who knew where all the shrines and guardians deactivated on the map were) it is not something that just disappears because yes and that's it, even the theory that explains that Gloom degraded everything makes some sense but by itself it can't explain everything, that's why I joined it to my own theory to give it more coherence. For example, why can't we see the Divine Beasts anymore? Simple because they were buried outside of Hyrule, that is, outside of the map, which explains why there is no trace of them, because if they were buried they are not underground. Explanations as simple as that would have helped a lot, I understand you, it's a shame that Nintendo left so many gaps, I know they wanted to create something new and not abuse the fanservice by avoiding making many references to the previous game, but damn, I never expected there to be almost nothing, even though it's the same map! Suddenly no one remembers the champions except for a very few, suddenly no one remembers the guardians or the divine beasts, suddenly everything disappears without further ado. I understand that they wanted to erase it to focus on the new but they forgot to remove the old in a coherent way because the disappearance of all the ancestral technology in TOTK simply doesn't make any sense.

    • @subjectdelta17
      @subjectdelta17 3 дня назад

      That makes absolutely no sense. There were thousands of guardians scattered around hyrule. 120 shrines. The pillars around hyrule Castle alone would have taken decades to dismantle.
      Besides, Nintendo officially stated that the tech disappeared bc it fulfilled it's roll in helping Link destroy calamity ganon.

      Imo they could've put chasms where the divine beasts were, then put their remains on the depths, a long with some deteriorared, non-functional guardians. As for the shrine of resurrection, they should've just closed it down rather than removing its insides like that. As for the towers, it would make sense if they added construction camps where the shrines were, so we could assume that Purah ordered them to destroy the tower and use the resources to build skyview towers. And finally, for the shrines, we could say some were just kind of burried back, just like they showed up on the surface as you completed a quest, but the opposite.

    I actually like the fan theory that the people of Hyrule went out of their way to disassemble all of the Guardians and Sheikah Towers from BotW. Considering how Ganondorf was literally underneath Hyrule Castle biding his time, it was a pretty good choice to remove one of the biggest threats that he previously used against the kingdom. Plus, it seems like they were able to recycle most of the materials when building the Skyview Towers, which are now generally in much more convenient places than the previous towers.

    If you remember in the cutscenes of Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity the royal claymore was the weapon of choice for King Rhoam(Zeldas Father). As if link and Zelda, though mainly link, returned to were his great journey started and paided respects to the man he served in life and who refused to abandon Link after death, staying by overseeing the shrine and lingering in the living world till link returned.

I gotta say the exploration in tears of the kingdom is so random too me, the depths and the sky are definitely fun yes but they did us honestly dirty with just the regular map because not much has changed and the thing i only noticed was the caves which are not really much fun to explore unless your fighting or collecting some treasure. The thing i also hate about tears of the kingdom is the fact that its supposed to be a sequel all tho it leaves out a majority of content from botw and just leaves it out. There was so much potential to make tears of the kingdom legit top breath of the wild in most peoples eyes but i guess its just gonna stay the sequel. But in all seriousness these games are great but in terms of how you started its always gonna be breath of the wild for me.

      @@PROJECT-NNthat makes sense, why risk Ganon trying to spread his corruption on them again.

      @@jonlosito2004nope, BotW on Wii U was released on the same day, 3.3.2017 🙈 But it was literally a Wii U game, released on Switch simultanously with some improvements in resolution and performance, though it wasn't very much, what was improved. And that's the Region, why Nintendo had a good base to make TotK technically so much better. Because BotW was made for a weaker piece of hardware.

It feels like they spent most of that 6 years sucking each other's cock instead of actually making a new game. They made Botw in less time and they reinvented the whole zelda series from the ground up, they have no excuse. Now people prefer Totk because «iT hAs mORe oCoNteNt» but that game is just incoherent compared to Botw.
