- Great day out on the water on the hobie kayak doing some Port Mansfield Fishing! Kayak fishing during a flood tide presented some unique opportunities to hook up on nice reds!
Great action bro! Congrats on your yak PB red!👊
Thanks for watching my friend! Man I can’t wait to catch an oversize red on light tackle one day...then I’ll really go on a sleigh ride lol
I’m from the McAllen area went out this weekend to port Mansfield and 27 and 3/4 red pulled reel out of my hand and jumped to the water and save the reel and landed nice red after being tangled with another reel. My buddy recorded it but after I jumped in. Hahah
@@rustyhook8698 that’s wild man! Lol That’s awesome that he caught it I video
Yup put it up in Fishbrain

@@MesquiteOutdoors This year has been crazy bro, boat is in the shop, been traveling all over for work. But hopefully soon I will be back at it. Hit me up if you ever wanna do a collab bro. Im always trying to fish with different people and learn different techniques.
That intro was spot on!! Nice reds man 😎
Thanks for checking out the video bud and the feedback! Those reds were tough to find with all that water but they were hungry! Can’t wait to catch an oversize on light tackle on my kayak one day! That would be a hell of a fight
LOVED THOSE SMALL CHANNELS AND QUIETNESS AROUND IT. SO PEACEFUL. GREAT VIDEO AND CATCHES!
Thanks for watching bud! Ya it was really neat to check all those spots out. Hopefully the water sticks around a bit longer so I can try to make it out again
@@MesquiteOutdoors MAYBE ONE DAY WE CAN DO A COLLABORATION?
@@ThirtyINchTrout heck ya man! Still haven’t hooked up on a snook. Need to pick you and snookingaround brains!

@@MesquiteOutdoors yes sir!
I remember fishing out there when I was a kid. First thing I ever landed was a seagull!
😂 nice
That’s what’s up bro!!!!
Thanks brotha! I had fun with this one
I’ve been dying to go out fishing on south padre island but it’s been so cold and no power so I guess I should wait until it warms up
Ya I’m itching to get back out myself! Thanks for watching
Nice vid like always bro great hook set on that first one .... where can I get some rgv lures from?
Thanks for watching! I agree that was a fun one. I felt something swimming with it but wasn’t sure what it was. I got them on their website but they also have them at hook line and sinker in Harlingen, fin factory in Mercedes, and full stringer in McAllen.
Exelente video bro y ese 3er red fish te dio buena pelea 😎
Gracias amigo!
Sweet action hope to take my kayak out but I don’t have pedal drive
Thanks for watching! It was an awesome day! I had good luck out there in Port Mansfield with my pelican before I had the hobie. The “bar” along the icw is like a mile from the boat ramp so it’s not too bad
Mesquite= how can i get a hold of you bro- I want to tag along with you on my kayak..
Thanks for watching bud! The best place to reach out to me are on my Mesquite outdoors Facebook page and Instagram account! Stay tuned as soon as this virus mess settles down I’m gonna do a meet up/subscriber hang out on the water
@@MesquiteOutdoors = ok mesquite, I appreciate your reply .. Hope to meet you one day..
Nice vid broo! You mind sharing any tips in what you look for to determine if a spot is good or not?
Thanks for watching! I appreciate that! If I’m drifting I like to look for grass flats or bars. I also like to look for choke points where the water kind of funnels into a smaller area. It could be between islands or channel in the mangroves. I also like like to look for points/coves. Bait has a way of into these points. I like to the wind blown shoreline when I can. Look for nervous bait and birds. That’s kind of what I look for. I use google maps on satellite mode to look for areas to fish.
Headed to South Padre in a few days to do some fishin!! See you always crush it out at South Bay, that’s on my radar! Got any tips on which part of the Bay are best???
Thanks for checking out the videos! Ya I always fish in relation to the mangroves. I haven’t had too much luck in the middle of South Bay. Fish near the mangroves, drift into the mangroves, fish the grass transitioning into the mangroves, fish any oysters you see off the mangrove
Is that a float on your rod?
Hey thanks for watching! Ya it’s a rod float. Little insurance lol. Stuff has a way of falling into the water I try to get floating stuff wherever I can
What reel is that brotha ?
I use the shimano nasci reels. They have been good to me! Thanks for watching the video
Serious question man, do you use the fish finder to "see the fish" or do you use it mainly for gps and not get lost?
I use it mainly for GPS/maps, speed, but also seeing the depth changes. That’s how I’ve used it so far but the model I use does have side imaging that would allow me to “see fish” on the sides of the kayak but I haven’t quite figured it out yet. Need to spend more time with it. I think I’ll start paying attention to water temp also
I'm new to your channel, so I have to ask. Where are you from in the valley? Port Mansfield is some what of a long drive.
Hey thanks for checking out the channel and the video. I live in the Edinburg/Mcallen area. I like port Mansfield cause there is less people
Would this area be north or south from Mansfield? Trying to find areas to wade!
It’s south of Port Mansfield 👍
I wouldn’t wade fish south of port no more been seeing more and more Gators where he’s fishing
@@polocharters7474 ever seen one on North shore?
@@reyrod6078 not north but south there is
