This video describes the first 25 miles of fishing Rock Creek in western Montana. While Rock is definitely a good stream and I did catch a 16 inch brown trout I found it to be too crowded for my preferences. I have heard that as you go further downstream and get closer to Missoula it becomes even more crowded and the fish become better educated and more difficult to catch. I caught more fish, had more fun and saw not a single other angler while fishing the 5 headwater tributary streams to Rock Creek. Perhaps more people should fish those streams.

This 'Blue Ribbon Stream' is beautiful... but over-fished and over-rated for fly-fishing. Mostly small trout and medium-sized Whitefish. Head to the Blackfoot, Upper Clark Fork or East/West Forks of the Bitterroot for bigger fish.

Yeah, it is overfished but I did catch my first cutthroat and Montana fish there in March '21.
Then took my dad there in October and we got into a few bows.
Following day a little luck on Blackfoot.
Next day on Bitterroot near Florence I landed a 19 inch bow.

When I fished it with my Son and friends in July Nymphs seemed to work the best. I euronymph alot and that works well on this stream. Even when they are hitting the top. My next couple of videos will be on this stream. Thanks for Sharing!
