Recently bought this tablet. It’s awesome how thin and light it is, perfect portability. Great screen and speakers, it’s really meant for entertainment purpose and NOT productivity.
@@Leabysses it will work just fine for taking notes. You can buy a capacitive stylus. And a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for like $30. You can use Google drive/Google docs to store all your notes so they are saved on the cloud. And Google drive allows you to make different folders, like, for different classes. Taking notes won't be any problem with a Bluetooth keyboard. The reason why it's entertainment first, is that certain things, like website editing, video editing, take a lot of processing power and this might not have enough for ridiculously big tasks. And if your trying to write a 20 page college paper every day on it, a laptop/Chromebook might work better. Chromebooks use Android apps too, but they are heavier. Chromebooks are normally faster, heavier, with a keyboard, not quite as fun for casual scrolling on Facebook or for RUclips, but it will do. So it will do better with productivity (it's faster, easier to type on) but a little worse with entertainment (speakers normally aren't as loud, screen quality won't be as good). This tablet will have a waaay better screen then a Chromebook. Tablets are built off entertainment so you will get a great screen, and great speakers. This tablet is plenty fast enough for most things anyway. But it's not faster then a $400 Chromebook and doesn't have a keyboard. Great screen, great speakers, so better for entertainment. Now if you want to take notes with a pen, it will still work too. Just get a capacitive stylus
@@AndroidDigest Thanks for your answer I am a french student by the way. I already have a computer but it's to heavy, to big to take notes at university. But I don't want another computer, or if I take one, I would not take a chromebook because even if I can write on, it is not a full computer. I prefer taking notes with a tablet. But I am scared to be tired of the little screen...
I have a Verizon model of this tablet and the cellular capabilities of the tablet are better than any other phone or tablet I have owned it is very good on Verizons network.
It's great in every way in my opinion except the wifi issue. And honestly, most people probably won't notice it, it bothered me a lot, but I do reviews and can be critical when buying a device
@@Ragnar0321 please watch this video. ruclips.net/video/4m7jKbw6V_8/видео.html A lot of misinformation about this issue. Essentially you lose signal by holding the tablet in the corner in landscape mode.. A lot of people claim it is a non issue, simply because they run speed tests, but the video I posted above is a quick video where I show you the issue with the wifi. I also briefly mention it in this review as well (see the time stamps)
Great review. Good approach. I agree with the major disadvantage (WiFi signal) BUT (big but) the problem disappears if you only turnaround the tablet. So, to my eyes, that makes the problem way smaller. I miss that consideration in the review. The problem is really in basically only one corner.
My favorite Bluetooth mouse is this Logitech bluetooth mouse. It's $25 and it has worked great with every device I've paired it with including the S5e, and it works great in DeX mode. amzn.to/388uw2k
Yes , I do edit photos , but , the rendering and the change son the image might be a little slower if you've got it in power saving mode or more than 10 apps running in the background
If you have good Wi-Fi coverage in your house it shouldn't be that big of a deal. But you're right I'm definitely glad they dropped the price. Other competitors at this price point like the Tab S6 lite, The screens don't even compare on those devices. This has amoled so it's a great choice if you have good wifi coverage, and as long as you willing to live with the wifi issue
I bought the 6Gb 128 GB internal storage version of this tablet and sofar i haven't reached my bounderies with it. I am not a hardcore gamer, so this tablet suites great for me, although you can still play PUBG smoothly and also ASFALT works great on it. I don't need the higher priced Tab S6. Good review anyhow.
Thanks. Honestly for 90% of people, this tablet will be fast enough. I don't think the majority of people will reach their boundaries. This tablet has 90% of the speed of the Tab S4. It's the hardcore people who want the latest and greatest who might want to wait. Or those who have an issue with the wifi.
Nice review .. I was so unsure about this tablet it i bought it and absolutely love it wifi is fixed I play pub g and cod on high settings this tablet proves you don't need to spend 500 quid for your average person .. my only problem is the time ot takes to charge
There is no palm rejection built in on this tablet right? If I were to buy a capacitive stylus, could I take notes on an app like OneNote which has built in palm rejection, even though the tablet itself doesn't support palm rejection?
To my understanding, one note's palm rejection typically only works with an s-pen and when it recognizes an s-pen is attached, but since there isn't any connection to a pen, I don't think it can tell the difference between a capacitive stylus and your finger. So I don't think one note will support palm rejection for this device. I switch devices and can't test. But I'm pretty positive on this. (I've tried to use other styluses with one note in the past and it hasn't worked).
@@AndroidDigest Aha, so that's how it works! I really wished Samsung would release a cheaper model with native pen support. It would have been great to see it on this or the Galaxy Tab A 10.1. Since you have the tablet, may I ask if note taking is a big issue? Does not having palm rejection ruin the experience, or is actually not that bad? Thank you for the reply by the way!
@@simenl1289 So it doesn't have Palm Rejection, at least from my experience. Does it ruin the experience? Well... It depends on how important note taking is to you. You can still scroll through with your hand without writing things, but I don't think that is based on palm rejection as much as it is allowing certain gestures without having you write. You can't erase by clicking a button and you have to manually click different things that you wouldn't normally need to click, at times it will read your scrolling as writing. If you can find the Tab S4 for about the same price, then I would go for that. It's a little heavier, but it has a headphone jack and is better for gaming. It will still get the Android 10 update, even if it will be later than some other devices. But if it's $100 or more, you have to ask yourself how important notes are to you. The S5e is lighter, it performs about 90% as good for day to day tasks and it is newer which means a little more support. But no headphone jack, and a small wifi issue which I've found on all 5 of the devices I tested (see the review for details. I also have a separate video testing the wifi on the s5e, see my videos for that). I have a Tab S4 review as well, and a Tab S6 review if you are debating between devices. If your in the US, feel free to use my links to purchase which helps to support. Even if you buy a different device it still helps
As BeamtUp Tech said flip it over and don't hold it on that side there problem fixed. In my own opinion Android is better than ChromeOS why well Android isn't based off the need for the internet to work at its best like ChromeOS is plus storage options is far better on Android devices than ChromeBooks are I found one Samsung ChromeBook with 128GB storage just like my Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e and it was 510 bucks whee I got my Galaxy Tab S5e for 400 bucks oh and to top it off this one came with a free 128GB SD card so I got a 256GB storage tablet not to mention display this thing kills the ChromeBook. Of course all that is just my view on ChromeBook VS Android Tablets by Samsung and ChromeOS VS AndroidOS.
As far as the wifi issue it's not that easy. Cases don't fit in that way. And I refuse to get a $400 device without a case. In reality though most people won't even notice this issue. I live in a small house but at most I went from 5 bars to 4 with wifi. I only had actual issues that affected my experience in larger buildings with less signal strength available.
In my opinion, Android tablets have better displays and are better for entertainment. Chromebooks are better for productivity. Keyboard is already attached, they are normally faster for the same price. So it depends. Most people should honestly just get a tablet. But some do find great use in Chromebooks
Has anyone tried running video editing software on it? I use Kinemaster on my phone and I want to have the larger screen. I'm pretty sure this should be able to put out 1080p at 60fps video, but I hope to know for sure before I unbox the thing later this week.

Yes. I made multiple videos on my wifi issues with it. But I did lose signal once or twice when I started with around 40% signal. That is very rare. Most smaller homes you will be at 80% all the time anyway. I was in a big church and went down to 40% when in a bad signal area of the church... And ONLY when I death gripped the corner I lost signal completely. Outside of that one time I haven't lost signal. I replicated this issue and I was able to lose signal in similar situations. But I have to have been 20 and 45% wifi to begin with to lose signal all together
