Lord help us to stand in unity in peace and love during these crucial times. Remove the hate in our hearts and replace it with love and acceptance of one another. I think it is so amazing how she was around when Dr. King was living and actually sang for him.. If we make as much growth in the next 50, maybe there will be real justice for Americans of color, and for all poor Americans.

I think it is so amazing how she was around when Dr. King was living and actually sang for him.. I tell you that age is wisdom indeed and I think that its so much that we an learn from the older generations if we take the time and sit down with them instead of being so caught up in this world. To have witness and endured the things that she and so many of her other colleagues have is down right remarkable. I often wish I could just venture into their minds and retain all the knowledge.

Miss Franklin is my favorite r&b singer and was my childhood idol.
This vid. brings me to tears. I grew up white in the South during the Civil Rights movement -- I was about 12 when Rev. Dr. King was murdered. Whatever you think of Pres. Obama's job performance, it is a great and wonderful thing that we have come far enough, in 50 years, to elect and then re-elect an African American president. If we make as much growth in the next 50, maybe there will be real justice for Americans of color, and for all poor Americans.
