I just bought one from EBAY that works and 100% complete for a decent price but it has the exact same issues. I’m glad I found this video. I had to literally look up how to troubleshoot my working GI Joe Tyco Train-Set :) Thanks!
If those are actual and authinic parachutes, protect them! Most sets did NOT come with the chutes. They missed the production line and were not packed in the box. There was a voucher in the box so you could have them sent to you, but most kids never received them. Also, there should be little dumbell wheels in the tanks, but after 40 years, I would not mess with them. That plastic the vecihles are made of can become very brittle and crumble in your hands.
Yeah, the chutes are original. I got the item new as a kid and haven't touched it in about 40 years until making the video. Unfortunately, the tanks don't currently have any wheels, not sure if it didn't include them.
@@KitbashCollections Ah, I wasn't sure if I had lost them but some or all of them must not have ever had wheels. Based on the comment about many not having chutes, it seems Tyco was inconsistent with what was included or kept making changes.

Mine didn’t come with wheels either in the tanks, the jeeps it did. I just bought the whole set from EBAY.
I wonder if they sell them separately! LOL
