I was really glad to hear you repeat your stance on having the kids online and respecting their privacy. I don't know if it's just me but I find it weird that people obsess so much over children they don't know, especially all the comments about the baby (and the awful stereotypes about having dad/4 brothers that won't let her date etc - that's beyond weird..)
I know people feel invested in your journey, as I do after watching you for so long, you've both put your personality out there and 'let us in' so we feel like we know you a bit. That's your choice as adults but man, I remember being a 14 year old and all I can say is I'm so glad we didn't have social media and digital cameras/video back then and I respect you both more for your stance on not having your children online without their permission.
Also, as much as I'm sure everyone is excited to see more content, I'm glad you're taking as much time as you need. Having a new baby, especially after such a long gap, must be so much work! I hope you don't feel too much pressure and can ease back into things when you're ready.

Find another trailer like the one you have and make like an L shape. Maybe a bedroom for buggie and a giant pantry or fun study room. It would be great to have a large space for storing food for all 7 of you. You might get lucky and get a cheap one.

Though I am one of the curious ones when it comes to the kid's schooling, I am so grateful to hear parents on YT consciously diverting their channels away from their kids. Too much exploitation of children happening and parents not keeping their kids in mind when stepping online with the family. I'd still like to hear how the parents manage it all, but whatever your secrets...it's definitely working for your family!

One of the most 'famous' beauty soaps of all time is a little swedish number containing egg white, called Lanolin-agg-tval. If you can freeze your many many excess egg whites until you're ready to make soap again, you could produce a really lovely cold process egg white bar, great for tightening skin and lightening age spots, etc. Just a thought.

Ben and Meg, I think you are wise to give your children privacy -- every person needs that little bit of solitude. My husband and I moved (with our 2 year old son) from East Texas to Central Florida, on the Space Coast. We lived in an old (but not decrepit (spelling?) for quite some time, We arrived in Florida in January of 1967, about two days before the Apollo I fire that killed three of our astronauts (we both worked at the Space Center, eventually) so that tragedy kept us unemployed for a little while, with no income to speak of (my in-laws were living there at the time so we didn't starve! lol!). Things finally did wind up again, I went to work for the local school board but my husband was a telecommunications technician at the Space Center for about 3 years. He had always loved wood working, i.e., wooden furniture, cabinets, etc., and in the latter part of 1970, we left the Space Coast. My husband did his wood working thing, and I went to work in a corporate legal office (in Orlando), subsequently working in a "real" law office. In 1973, we moved to Ocala, in North Central Florida, and rented a house for a while. We built a house, but because the surrounding property was inexpensive, the neighborhood surrounding us really went down, and after 27 years we built our present home which is on slightly more than two acres. We've been here now for more than 20 years, but my husband passed away in 2004. Our son is now in his mid-50's, has not found a life's mate thus far. My only concern is that he be happy and I 'm pretty sure he is. I was forced, medically, by severe spinal issues to retire from my job of 30+ years (at age 70) in 2015. I worked in real estate law, estate planning, business organizations, and land use law and had a wonderful boss. It's amazing how much you forget thing when you're no longer doing them. There's not a human being anywhere who hasn't had challenges of one type or the other -- that's just part of living. I think you and your family have managed beautifully. I do miss seeing your videos, because other than sewing and a little cooking, that's about all I can do. I used to bake a lot, but at my age I've naturally slowed down on that! You have to take time for your faith first, your family and your 'farm'/'homestead' . The videos have to come after those priorities are met! Best wishes for 2021. I pray that we all have a good year.

I think it is a girl thing then throw in breastfeeding (exclusively), and mommy can't do anything without her growth lol.. I had to invest in one of those back breaking baby carriers. It's like I'm back to being pregnant, but hey I can actually get a little something done! Anybody else checking out the books? And finding lots of familiar and I own that! High five on the self awareness and good example setting to recognize the season you are in and that it doesn’t lend itself to bringing more work (animals) to the farm. How exciting to know you’re working on infrastructure that will allow you to safely bring in more animals ( if you decide that’s what you need to do) and that it will be there when you need it. I can’t count the number of times I brought something home and had to scramble to try and get set up for it after the fact. Re: the kids sleeping arrangements- a lot of folks are used to each child having their own room- I’m old enough that I shared a room with two sisters and my three brothers shared a room. Quiet and content so I don't feel the sex of the baby makes a difference. On the up side once the elder one grew out of the needy screaming stage, at around six months and she became an angel. Meg that bothers me too. Kids sleeping spaces. Why do people need to know? I'm wondering if one of the older boys, if interested, could be taught editing? Mom and dad could do a final review of course. It could potentially become and on line career of sorts if they became interested in web page creation or something like. I like your strength in boundary creation for your family. We are getting ready to move to our homestead this year and I ordered chickens for April and July arrivals. We ordered Bielefelders and Americanas. I'm getting excited. We are working on some severe downsizing and getting our home ready to sell. Praying for smooth processes. So good to see you guys again.

Maybe they just have a similarly configured family vis a vis kids and want to know if they could fit their family in a large mobile homes like you guys did? Probably its just normal interest and that is the first thing people ask about. That said though, so glad to hear (though not at all surprised) your view on respect being mutual. Of course, you should just follow your own instincts. I do think your boys are adorable when they are interested in being in the vids (loved the cart to the pile of leaves vid and the acorn collection episode); teenagers need their privacy, for sure! Just give us whatever you can. I appreciate it. I have been making potato gnocchi since I saw you do it; so cooking vids are appreciated too. Again, happy to watch whatever you want to show us. @@dixsigns1717 everyone has differing numbers of children and sleeping spaces and everyone figures it out in their own ways. I have seen a tendency to want to question how one does things and offer their own opinions, which is an attempt to be condescending. I just don't think it is necessary. Helpful suggestions aren't a bad thing necessarily, but insisting that a differing sleeping arrangement is needed is an attempt to say that something is wrong and that you know what is best. I trust Meg and Ben's judgment. They have made smart courageous decisions. Thank u for your agreement.

Usually, it is around giving them some measure of privacy, for the twins especially. They had 0 privacy for 2.5 years living in the camper (not a criticism, just the truth) sleeping in bunks in the common space. So, it's not a criticism of Ben and Meg, just empathy for more breathing room to get away from everyone else from time to time.

I had to train my baby to sleep in his crib. I was going crazy cause he would wake up everytime i put him down. But i took that as a challenge. Whenever he fell asleep i would move him to his bed. If he slept 30 mins, great. Next time i would do it again until he would sleep longer and longer in his own bed. Took about a week or two to train him...

How was the complexion of the pigs after their spa day in the mud?😁 The neighbor’s pigs by Grandmom’s house loved the mud! People have to remember too, when you’re in the middle of building a homestead, that all members pull together and so what sharing a bedroom. There were seven of us on a homestead in Alaska and we may not have had what a lot of others had materially, but what we did have massively made up for all the other stuff! Not one of us would change that experience! So 👍👍👍 tops to you 💕❤️💗❣️🥰

My daughters were hard to get asleep. Until I was told about this method of letting baby cry for 5 mins. Go pickup babe. Then 10 mins next time, then 15 mins the next time etc.
Trust me it has worked beautifully. Because holding little one is beautiful but they get heavier and they don't learn to sooth themselves...
As far as lamas are concerned if you have to feed them and can't eat them then its a waste of money. Their not like dogs or cats which become pets...

I guess people want to know about sleeping arrangements because they are struggling with sleeping arrangements from their own kids and they want input. If I had to do it over again, I think that I would build tiny houses on trailers for my kids bedrooms as they got older, so they could get used to the whole keeping things tidy and put away thing, and so that if and when they needed to leave for a job or college or some such, they could pull their home with them instead of having to pack and rent. Meanwhile if and when they move and leave the tiny house behind you have a guest house or workplace. I don't blame you for not making firm plans, as the situation is so fluid at this point...remaining semper gumby is always a good idea.

Was listening to a phycologist. He had been to the funeral of a childhood friend. There he remembered that he had not felt great like that since his dog died when he was fourteen. The point he made was that adolescents are at a place where their feelings are more and you need to keep that in mind when dealing with them. You're doing the right thing by respecting their privacy. That was James Dobson by the way. Fences are important, not just for. His goats got through the fence and all their kale. Very discouraging. Thanks for sharing guys. Your daughter is adorable, even if she does scream.

I believe waiting to have household pets until they won't be a burden is really being fair to yourselves. Taking care of an infant, homeschooling editing, housework and cooking for such a large family sounds like there already isn't enough time in the day as it is. Things are going to happen when they are meant to. I think your doing great. No need at all to add stress and burnout tying to tackle too much at once. Stay happy and safe you big beautiful family❤
