- Sunset drive on the way to my hotel in Washington DC, the capital of the USA. Video starts in Arlington, passes through Georgetown, by the White House, and ends by the United States Capitol Building. Enjoy the quiet of these cities while you can! Once domestic and international tourism start again, I think the first year will be very very busy.

Washington, DC, the U.S. capital, is a compact city on the Potomac River, bordering the states of Maryland and Virginia. It’s defined by imposing neoclassical monuments and buildings - including the iconic ones that house the federal government’s 3 branches: the Capitol, White House and Supreme Court. It's also home to iconic museums and performing-arts venues such as the Kennedy Center.

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and also known as D.C. or just Washington, is the capital city of the United States of America. The City of Washington was founded in 1791 to serve as the national capital. In 1801, the land, formerly part of Maryland and Virginia (including the settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria), officially became recognized as the federal district. In 1846, Congress returned the land originally ceded by Virginia, including the city of Alexandria; in 1871, it created a single municipal government for the remaining portion of the district.
The city is divided into quadrants centered on the Capitol Building, and there are as many as 131 neighborhoods. The estimated population of 705,749 as of July 2019, makes it the 20th-most populous city in the U.S. and gives it a population larger than that of two U.S. states. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city's daytime population to more than one million during the workweek. Washington's metropolitan area, the country's sixth-largest (including parts of Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia), had a 2017 estimated population of 6.2 million residents.
A locally elected mayor and a 13-member council have governed the district since 1973. Congress maintains supreme authority over the city and may overturn local laws. D.C. residents elect a non-voting, at-large congressional delegate to the House of Representatives, but the district has no representation in the Senate. District voters choose three presidential electors in accordance with the Twenty-third Amendment to the United States Constitution, ratified in 1961.

I had to cancel my 2020 trip to South Korea unfortunately! India too. Most Asian countries are closed to all visitors. But I am closely watching how things are changing. Hopefully 2021.

My company is allowing us to continue working remote until 2022. I currently live in Charlotte, NC so I’m taking advantage of this and moving to an Airbnb in San Diego for a few months this summer. I might even extend my trip for an extra month and get an Airbnb in San Francisco or Seattle.
As someone who lives in Los Angeles and has been to New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Boston, and Miami, Washington DC is by far my favorite city in the country. Not only is there just the amazing history, but the architecture is flat-out gorgeous. The perfect blend of traditional classy buildings with modern office buildings and beautiful night life. Not a flashy city, a classy city.

@@christiancolarusso5835 It's awful. Everyone thinks it's heaven. Palm trees, beautiful beaches, beautiful girls, nice cars, and gigantic houses with swimming pools and celebrities everywhere, but it couldn't be further from the truth. It's genuinely awful here. The traffic is horrible, the people are fake and backstabbers, and LA is just overrated overall. The only thing I'll give it is that it's got some bangin Mexican food and Asian food. The music scene ain't bad either. But If I had a choice, I'd rather live on the east coast or Texas/Louisiana. New York, New Orleans, Miami, Atlanta and Washington D.C. are all way better places that I've been to. Those are all my favorite cities.
@@keezoftw1175 the only people who think it’s nice are the ones living in Beverly Hills Hollywood and venece beach now I’m only 14 and I’ve never been to LA so I could be wrong but I live in Massachusetts and Boston is an amazing city it’s not as big as LA but it’s beautiful
@@christiancolarusso5835 If I were you I'd maybe visit LA once for vacation, because it's not a bad vacation spot if you're by the beach (Santa Monica) but I would never live here. It's a pretty dangerous place with a lot of crime. I've been to Boston once and It's not a bad city, but It's way too cold for me and I don't like the food and sports fans lol. That's just me personally.
@@keezoftw1175 As someone who lives in Massachusetts I’ll tell you we love our sports teams and I’ll absolutely visit LA for a vacation but I’m never gonna live here the only people who get it good are Hollywood venece beach and Beverly Hills

@@halfvolley11 Yes but remember that in many other countries, such as England and France, the capital city happens to be the largest city. Washington DC was partially chosen as a capital of the US because it's about halfway between the North and the South of the country. New York City has been a larger city for longer than Washington DC has even been around. In Australia as well the capital city is Canberra, not Sydney. Canberra is basically a government center and is not nearly as vibrant as Sydney or Melbourne.

What a gorgeous city. The combination of the uniform look of buildings not exceeding a certain height combined with the broad streets and avenues make for an extremely elegant vibe. Also the feel of historic structures coexisting alongside more modern ones is absolutely captivating.

DC is so so underrated. My wife and I often go to the Mall at night from downtown and just sit there for an hour and walk back. It's so gorgeous at night.
I love it. One of the best things to do it have a bike and ride around DC while getting drinks on a summer night. Such such such an amazing place

Wow this brings back memories.. back in 2016 my dad had work in Arlington so I went with him and in the afternoon he used to take me on relaxing drives in these areas in Washington DC and around Arlington.. it was the best times of my life. Thank you so much for the video.

The driver starts in Ballston, VA and drives towards DC. Eventually reaching Francis Scott Key bridge and driving into Georgetown, DC and eventually towards the capital/downtown. A nice line to see the connection of neighborhoods that constantly change in the DMV area.

I've been to Washington D.C. just once in the summer 1999. I've been to lot of places in the United States. I've lived in California for 2yrs&a half. I went to London UK 2 yrs ago. this video reminds me of being in London 2 yrs ago. Washington D.C. really resembles London U.K. I'd really like to come to Washington D.C. someday.

I love going here in the summer. No better place to be (accept maybe Miami). Love the buildings. It's also a must to go during the Cherry Blossom festival. so many great places to take pictures as well. Maybe the country's most photogenic city.

Hi, J Utah I love your clips and settle down each night over a glass of wine to enjoy them. I know you've done some places abroad. Here are a few places I would love to see if you could ever arrange it. Cape Town (it's stunning). Casablanca, Morocco, looks great too. Algiers in Algeria, Haifa in Israel. Beirut would be great as well, as would the coastline up to Jounieh. I love all these places by the sea, but they would make superb places for you to show. Keep it up. Your videos are the best of this genre online. No unwanted distractions on the image great.

DC is too small for a capital city - it should amalgamate Arlington and Alexandria. Brooklyn was an independent city that was later added to New York City. Chicago and many US cities were amalgamated. Virginia can kiss my ass. You guys are part of Washington DC period.

@@halfvolley11 Also I feel that today that wouldn’t work because Arlington and Alexandria have grown some differences from DC proper. The demographics are drastically different and also the crime rate. Arlington county and the City of Alexandria wouldn’t want to be a part of DC because it’s now two totally different lifestyles.
