Rie's would appeal more to a more older (post teen) audience looking for aesthetics and Instagram-able food whilst Alix's would really appeal more to younger audiences looking for funky and "out of the world" kind of food

Rie’s is different textures, mint, and something a person probably 2-5 years older would begin to love way more.
Simpler is sometimes better. They’re not saying someone is necessarily a better cook, they’re competing about who can make a kid the happiest on the fly.

Well, that's your perspective. Kids don't expect wild things in food, therefore cupcake is actually a safe route to win. But I have to agree, Rie's decoration was on point, just wish she didn't make milkshakes.
Actually, Alix went well with the idea of the child, and he was a judge, so she won and that’s totally fine. For example in real life, even if you write an essay as good as Shakespeare, but you are off topic, then it wouldn’t considered “a good essay” (not saying that Rie was off topic but that’s the only reference that I could think of 😂😂😂) But true, Rie’s was cool, and I would like to have that😍😍

If this were to be a competition for adults, Rie would win 100%. She made a better dessert and had a more sophisticated dish, but had the wrong target audience in mind. Alix’s dish was sloppy and very haphazardly made, but her strategy worked as the components she used would appeal to children. Both solid efforts 👌🏼

It’s really hard to tell sometimes what kids want sometimes they say they want something and they actually want something else or sometimes they just want what they want. But I think the cupcakes were more appealing to the kid as cupcakes may have been more familiar to him.
