Skip says he helped his mom pay their house payment when he was a kid. Just smiling like he wouldnt trade his life experience for anything. Dude seems like a cool guy.
This was one of the best podcast interviews on hunting, and more specifically the journey of land acquisition (which is so difficult), I have watched. Skip and you Jake were amazing to listen to! Big fan of the channel, and the theme of land / $ / hunting!
I really enjoyed your story of how you got started. I had know idea what all you went through, and sacrificed to get where you are, this should inspire a lot of people who think they can't buy any land. You have always been willing to help people me included on Iowa whitetail. Always appreciate your help!
I think the most important question you need to ask is what percentage of your investments are in land. I’m putting 20% of gross into the market for retirement and I’m trying to save the remainder for land.
1031 exchange is where you defer your capital gains into the next property. Here is a good source: www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0110/10-things-to-know-about-1031-exchanges.aspx
Sorry on delay. Buddy said this ? Was on here. “A lot”. I’m blessed. 80 to start is now in the thousands now. Many of this is AG farms. How I make my living. Only took 30 years & im very thankful. Want to see others reach their dreams as well.
I have not seen that happen to the same scale as the housing market. There has been more money going into the ag land outside of the traditional local land buyers.
I just bought a farm in Tenn , 44 acres and I am a first time buyer I like hearing this info .. Thank You

That's very fair and a great strategy! The stock market over a long period of time is historically tough to beat for passive growth.
Definitely have Skip on for 2.0!
Sure hope to make it happen! Left with more questions than what o started with haha
Where are all the full conversations like this? Very insightful episode
Thanks for watching! You can find full length episodes on iTunes and Spotify!
Great conversation!
Vb had a lot of deer then.
I was in Davis just east of Bloomfield
What does he mean when he says he was 10-31 exchanging??

i never knew about this crp in iowa. it sounds like the wildlife exemption here in texas, except we dont get payed for it, just lower taxes.
So would it be better as someone hoping to buy to pay more at less interest or pay less per acre with higher interest if the market drops
How many acres does Skip now owns ?

Are those little books gone
They are unfortunately, but Pat has them on Amazon for a nominal fee!
Do you see corporations like black rock buying up farm land at 2x the value? That's happening in housing markets in places
