I can see Karl has put a lot into this car. It's a real credit to him. This is the best condition Rover 45 I've seen for a long time. And probably the best performing engine without the weight and thirst of the V6. It looks like great fun to drive.
It's not the only only one out there. Two years ago, the head gasket on my 1.8 Connoisseur succumbed to the inevitable. I had the head and camshafts from a 135 TF fitted, and it totally transformed it. Mine isn't as cosmetically nice as this though
Quite envious are we Paul, I would be. It looks a hell of a lot better than the car's there turning out nowadays, take the badges off and you'll find it hard to tell one brand from another apart from Kia/Hyundai that is.
I had a 2003 45 Connisieur in Seafrost.Lovely colour.Changed the dash and door casings for earlier Burr walnut though.Having said that this one is a credit to its owner Paul...
I have same engine in my mini, if only rover had done more with the minki from factory. Its like a mini/elise. Great engines in best car in the world 👍🏻
I had 135 cams on my old 1.4 25, I had it remapped by Z&F tuning aka K maps. Rpm limit was 7250rpm it went like stink but was flat as anything below 5500rpm and had a slightly lumpy idle, I miss that car.
Also needs the metal inlet with injectors and springs , plus 135 manifold with the 4 2 to 1 for flow , that’s why I got the whole 135 lump , they are actually better torque up to 5k
@@karldavies6679 yes I think you're right there, it would of ran better with that head set up, but it still was pretty quick once it was wound up. I miss that car
@@ProjectNigel But my 1.8 75 is only 118bhp & the turbo is 148 bhp - 135 seems a nice halfway house! Although a comfortable cruiser I feel it could do with a slightly higher 5th gear 70mph = 3000rpm+ 😶
@ProjectNigel I'm glad paul we did well here it's been good for business companies wanting space away from flooding for there motor vehicles. My heart goes out to the people affected must be heartbreaking seen your property taken over by flood water Stay strong people

I had two - saloon and hatchback. In their day, for me, they were as good as anything around - better than most! Very stylish, nicely appointed, and comfortable. The later face lift didn't work. The car lost its elegance.
I keep looking at the car I don't think the wheels look right sorry Carl I'm not disrespecting your 45 it's beautiful a real credit to you me personally I don't think the wheels are right but that's my personal opinion
@karldavies6679 hi Karl do you do any shows in the 45 it is a remarkable car I'm doing a 750i at the moment nothing major cosmetic bits really I hope I get it done to the standard you have with your 45 id be over the moon cracking car karl
This car is what it’s all about, people making stuff their own. Big ups to Karl.
Yes this is every bit as good as it looks 😊
Thanks Tom

What a lovely example and the uprated K series sounds brilliant. Qdos to Karl.
Yes it sounds great

🤠
Yes isn't it?
Thanks 😊
What a beautiful car! An absolute credit to Karl 🙂
Indeed it is
I love one off 'should have been built' cars like this. Lovely motor!
Yeah it's pretty special

I would also do this if I came across some
Very clean!! Love the colour, as you say it takes the correct contrast for its true colours to be shown.
Just like Ignition Blue looks best at sunset
Very nice looking 45, that's why i was surprised to see it's on cheap ditchfinders🤦🏻♂️
I suppose it depends on what you're doing to do with it.
Rome wasn’t built in a day 😆

@@ProjectNigel I think it was for the reason's stated below by Karl I would think, it was still quick especially for a 1.4.

Can't wait to give this a drive.
Has he promised you a drive too?
Yeah he is coming this Saturday
I wonder if anyone made any Rover 45 Streetwises? They would look very special indeed I think.
I haven't seen one. Good idea though
Good review topped by the "you've got so old you drive a Rover 45 everybody in the town knows you " comment 😂
Rover could have put a 135bhp 1.8 in the 75 too!
I think the 75 would be too heavy for this to work
