Thanks Sherry! Chico is anywhere between 7 and 15 years old! He's a rescue dog (stray dog... abandoned in the streets to fend for himself... some people have absolutely no heart). He's most probably 10 years old... Everybody has his/her own opinion about Chico's age! Some say he's more than 10 because of the way he walks... like an old dog (and he has some health conditions linked to old age)... Some say less than 10 because of his energy level.
It's because he is working so hard! I think that makes him even cuter, isn't it? When we throw him a ball, his paws slip so much he looks just like a cartoon dog! That's funny!
I just adored your video, Chico is just so awesome, what a quick learner! He reminds me so much of my Reilly with that little white muzzle; what a cutie. =)
Wow, thanks! I think I spent three full days on that video, not counting that I recycled some old footage, or I would have spent several more days... and not counting the hours of training, of course! ;-)
Thanks Lissy! He's even cuter now with his new summer haircut (very very short hair... he's a brand-new dog... I really need to make a new video before his hair gets long again!)
I think they thought, most of all, that an old long-hair dog was too costly to maintain... Chico was in a neglected state when he was found in the streets. And I guess they never spent any time to try to train him, except maybe by his very first owners, when he was a puppy (we can see that he add some basic training... he's walking on the left-hand side on a loose leash... never on a right-hand side). Here in Quebec, most dogs are kept for an average of 24 months.
Thanks! If you want to teach your dog one of my "never seen before" tricks, feel free to post a video response showing your dog under my videos! It took forever to teach Chico to bow... He was really "bowing-resistant". I finally had to put his paws on my arm and slower lower my arm to the ground while feeding the dog to show him the correct position. Very inconfortable for me! I tried the classical ways to teach it, but it was a complete failure! Right now, we're struggling with cross paws!
You'll find a few tutorials for some of those tricks in the description below the video. They were made by other RUclipsrs. Maybe I'll make a few tutorials later, when I'm inspired!
You have no idea how long Chico can sleep in his bed during the day... He's really an old low-energy dog, completely the opposite of a young border collie. Luckily for me, I'm working from home, so I would not be able to concentrate on my work on the computer if I had a young dog constantly moving around me... I would go crazy! I guess you need to pick a dog that suits your family needs. Ivy would find me very booooooring! Chico has his own bed near my computer. He sleeps, and I work.

Great job! Cute and lucky dog!
It's Chico's favorite too! When he's not sure how to do what I ask him, he scratches his nose instead!
Wow! very impressive. I need to get started with my dog. Hope he catches on as quickly as Chico did. May I ask about how old he is?
Chico and trainer are super smart. :)

That's a cute name, isn't it?
-Chico
Let me guess: previous owner thought this was a dumb dog? When it was really their training technique that was lacking.

"Chico get your stupid ass inside
that's cruelty to animal ese"
Wouf! (Chico speaks French.)
he had... not he add... ;-)
