- I really didn't know what to expect when I sat down to finally listen to some girls' frontline 2 music. But, especially this prologue trailer..It's really good. Got this Philip Glass repetitive pattern. If you want to check out Girls' Frontline 2 you can take a look by using this link: sunborn.onelin...

GFL 1 is incredible in both music and storytelling. I hope GFL 2 continues with the quality.
I agree, though so much to pick up is probably what deters people from GFL 1 despite really good Gacha mechanic, great story, and so forth
It absolutely does.
@@croskerk It's also showing it's age, not just Combat, but the UI and Grindiness too.
The grind and the annoying repair system were always what ended up pushing me away.
@Mochachocakon yeah
Its age is really there
UI is fine, I dont mind it as much
But holy crap its been out for a long time and well you got tons and tons of characters to obtain and you can only randomize them so much
I still love the game and do wish there is a revamp version of it with similar features. I love the building mechanic of main GFL but also enjoy the guntism gallor the game offers.
Though yeah, its definitely showing in a lot of aspect, but its still rocking.
Though yeah game is definitely a lot more grindy now than before
If you know the Browser Game Kantai Collection (KanColle, KC), thats basicly where GFL1's build, resources, repair system, and comissions systems came from. and that Browser game was from 2013... So its indeed showing its age now.
A bit of trivia, the entire prologue sequence is actually a brief summary of the key events in Girls Frontline OG. That solo voice during the early part nicely ties up with the struggles of a special T-doll called M4A1. For the entirety of the game, she had been the center of many events even as the greater powers-that-be continue with their schemes and war mongering. The mushroom cloud, to my interpretation, signifies world war III in the game lore and then it transforms into a treelike, cloudlike structure which I believe represents the birth of Doll technology and the subsequent development of Neural Clouds and cloud backups. That circle of girls with the lotus in the middle, I see the lotus as M4A1 and the girls the many victims due to the machinations of one deranged man and his connection to M4A1. Then the scene with two girls lying on the ground where you mentioned a sense of longing, coincides with more of M4A1's longing to discover what or who she really is while at the same time torn as to whether she really needs or wants to find out.
The doll falling, Groza, was actually a side-character in the over-arching story of OG girls' frontline, altho she did play a big role in some of the missions. Her falling and the flashbacks I interpret as the POV of someone who watched all of it transpire but not given a more prominent role to play. But now, she's front and center the poster girl and the first doll beside the commander (player) in Girls Frontline 2. A new story altogether with little connection to past events. At least in so far as I've seen up to chapter 6.
just came here to say that all you said was patially wrong and the entire scene was just grosa uploading her memory to the neural cloud as she is plummeting to her own death
@@yokai1235 yes it's her uploading her memories, while also acting as a brief summary of OG GFL key events as per the records in Groza's memories. it's a smart and artistic way of doing a recap. New players will wonder what it is, but GFL veterans will understand the images being shown.
I'm personally curious as to why, out of all the T-Dolls, Groza was chosen as the "main girl" of the new game. I'm not complaining, I'm just curious to see how the story develops for her.
GFL: formation simulation with an s tier story.
GFL2: XCOM, with an equally intriguing story.
GFL really was just controlling multiple Platoons as a company commander with all the dummylinked tdolls, I hope we get to do that in the future of Exilium as a higher level of RTS outside the xcom style RTS
@@Ozpawn nope this is in the lore you are now a squad commander there is no dummy link but you can have up to 8 different tdolls per mission also xcom is not a rts it's tbs: turn base strategy
@@OzpawnWell, highly unlikely we will ever fight in similar levels to late-G&K types of battles due to lore reasons.
Basically, PMCs are always looked down upon by the West Europe and most predominantly Eastern European nations, so if any grows too big, they will shut it down to prevent it over running certain governments.
Basically what happens some time during or after GFL 1, plus one of the founding members having ties to a terrorist organization responsible to a LOT of the things that happen post Chapter 13 in GFL 1.
Someone really said "we're gonna make robots and give them PTSD"
For like the 4th time. It's hardly the first IP to do that.
Doll manufacturers in the setting literally program mental illnesses into doll psyches because it's cute or they find it funny. One doll's social algorithm is canonically trained entirely on 4chan and Reddit posts from idol and gaming threads (in an effort to appeal to those demographics), and comes out *exactly* the way you'd imagine.
You've slept incredibly hard on the music for GFL 1. I eagerly await your video on GFL 1's Mythoclast, which is the game's most iconic track by far.
He reacted to it live!!! ruclips.net/video/GCqf-W1UOIY/видео.html
@@umbre2360 M16's recurring leitmotif from Mythoclast in the later tracks are so powerful emotionally. especially paired with her role in the story in GFL1
Really hope Marco covers more of the tracks from GFL1
@@kitkee5617 Absolutely
I highly recommend "Anna" and "Connexion" from GFL1.
Mythoclast is also great
Connexion is real epic
When you say mythoclast i have to ask...which version?@tommyone9780
Vanguard Sound Studio made GFL1 music so yeah there's that.
I'm so glad you're finally taking your first steps into the MICAverse!
As a franchise veteran and archivist I've been waiting with bated breath for you to start looking into GFL (and maybe beyond) ever since you started going over and fell in love with Vanguard Sound's catalogue in PGR (a significant chunk of Kuro is made up by ex-MICA staff too, fyi). MICA and Vanguard go all the way back to both of their inceptions, and have worked together for next to every one of their titles, so I really hope you'll be looking at more of their works.
Welcome to a World of Love and Hope!
Really like it so far!
These girls are civilian androids repurposed for war. Their data consciousness is contantly uploaded into a cloud so they can revive into new bodies after being heavily damaged in battle.
It's a constant cycle of death and rebirth. The game portrays a future that is closer than one can imagine.
Why not men? The lore seems quite peculiar and interesting...
@@planetary-rendez-vous is just pure logistics female models are way more common them male models just so you know gfl 1 had only 3 male t dolls 2 was just npcs and the playable one was a femboy
@planetary-rendez-vous Male Dolls exist in series (see Project Neural Cloud the spinoff). The primarily female roster outside the title and wanting to focus on a specific market is due to most of the Dolls being converted/modified civilian androids (some were customer service, some were servant models, etc).
@@planetary-rendez-vous Literally the same reason gacha games are mostly full of girls. People like cute girls. Most of the market is trying to sell you a cute girl. In the world of the game, when these dolls become unemployed or run away from some horrific environment, a lot of them get refitted for mercenary work. It just so happens that, since most dolls sold are cute girls, you get a lot of cute girls asking for a gun in their hand and steady paycheck for maintenance when the world gets rough.
And the world of Girls' Frontline is *rough.*
If anyone wants the full version of the trailer music, it's called 'Voyager' by chouchou from their 'Hello, Astronauts' album. Recommended.
Also a bit of info, the visuals show the main events from GFL1.
Marco, if you only knew how much time GFL1 players spent on event page while listening to all VS masterpieces.
Glad you listened to GFL2 music. If you have time, give a try to GFL1 mucic which is also completely made by Vanguard Sound.
Really, realy recommend most of GFL1 ending songs, especially 'Polaris' and 'Connexion'. Also 'Mythoclast', 'Demon' and 'Early Cognition' from general BGM.
I've been a gfl veteran for about 4 and a half years now and I've been so pumped for this game to launch. I always wanted you to react to some girls frontline 1 music but I figured I'd be drowned out in the comments and never tried to ask. Hopefully you enjoy it. Vanguard sound always puts out good music
Indeed, both games have great music and stories.
I've tried vehemently for years and I have gotten hearts on comments.
Personally I just think its crazy for as big as this niche fanbase actually is that there are surprisingly few reactions to the music cause even the beginning stuff is just fire. Made in Heaven may be some simple end stage boss music, but you learn to relish in its simplistic bop if you don't just storm the front doors with a coalition team for the 1000th time
I think the major story ending songs alone would make for fascinating reviews. There's so much layered detail just waiting for someone with an eye for it to look a little deeper.
@@Ianlegendstone Yep
ah yes Girls' Frontline... when you add Depression and Warcrime inside your Cute Robot
The scenes from the opening movie hit even harder when you've played the first game, as it's showing some of the most rough moments from the story of the first game, and I'm not sure if I judged it correctly but to me the opening looks like it implies groza, our protagonist, is losing her memories of past events, nodded to by some story and in-game lore records, also it plays right after the second video, so they way they linked that together is a nice detail to me, finally, I think you'd enjoy listening to darture's full battle theme, very classic vanguard sound for that one
Some spoilers for the first few chapters of GFL2:
It's actually the opposite, in between GFL1 and 2 something happened to Groza which caused her to lose most of her memories of the events of 1, and that cutscene takes place right after she activates a special device which strengthens her to hold off Darture while the rest of her team escapes. She doesn't survive the fall, and after her backup gets restored to a new body she glitches out, talks like a robot, and repeats, "Mission failed," over and over again before eventually returning to normal, seemingly unaware of what happened. To me, it reads like the device actually caused her to start remembering what happened, and the glitch was specifically her recalling whatever mission she was on that caused her to lose her memories.
@@nathanderweise_ it was probably that mission that nearly annihilated all of our dolls
@@LimitPro1 Given how GFL1 goes we're already used to several events in which almost all our dolls get anihilated (Sin/CT, PL, PR, FP and probably the upcomingf Frankfurt arc).
@@nathanderweise_ that also makes sense, but well, leave it to gfl to be intentionally confusing sometimes lol

GFL 2 has been a blast so far. Hope you enjoy your stay Marco! Edit: Man of the scenes depicted in the video are straight referencing pivotal moments from the first game. Just before you see the big tank, you see a train smashing through a wall. That was a hail marry your character performed just to buy time in a desperate battle. But other scenes are also referenced. All pivotal moments from over a decade ago in universe time. you're also spot on with your analysis I feel.
11:00 oh.. You would love Gf 1 Cube event Boss battle song. That song was epic.
girls frontline mentioned
In the first trailer, the creators have made a really cool play on the idea of Neural Cloud Backup.
Thing is, a doll's frame can be replaced, but the storage of memories, the base layer, and everything else important for the "self" in a doll is either backed up, transferred as a core from one frame to another, or lost forever.
In the beginning, during the fall, she initiates the backup. Then we see all the memories from her neural cloud (well, not really consistent with the lore of the first game, but WE, as players, do remember all the events referenced in "her" memories). After the backup is done, we see the real world again, where she shuts down the frame before it crashes into the abyss.
Something I love as a longtime GFL1 player is that a lot of the music carries faint motifs from some of the most memorable tracks from the first game, even just the menu themes, and even when the overall song is very very different this time. It's a nice callback while still standing apart
Everyone is talking about how the music of the two games are great and not enough about how your analysis is just spot on. All the key points identified in the analysis are correct. A recurring theme in the series is things not being able to change despite multiple generations of characyers fighting to do so. In the process, are all of these dolls (the girls) are the ones actually in the grinder, fighting to try to make it happen. Yet in a sense, they are alao just observers, watchers, as these conflicts are human driven, and they are merely the undying chess pieces of it (because they can be backed up into replacement bodies to fight again). This is all superimposed on the visual one of the main characters, Groza, who is at the end of this incarnation of herself, shes about to be deactivated from this fall.
It’s a pretty interesting story if I’m honest.
@@MarcoMeatball In any case I really thank you. I knew the context behind the scenes in the video, and the visuals and music combined just felt so fitting when I first watched it. But I didn't fully understand why. Your interpretation of music clicked everything for me. If the story interests you but you don't want to play a gacha game, may I suggest Reverse Collapse Bakery Girl? It's a game on Steam, standalone and not a live game. It's a remake of an older game than GFL1 and 2, but that acts as a sequel to all of them, in-universe chronologically. It's one of the most well produced and written story focused strategy games I've ever played, genuinely no hyperbole, and carries on this generational conflict I talked about. Can't go wrong with it. It's made with being spoiler-safe for gfl2 in mind, despite being integral to the overarching story, if you still end up trying gfl2 too.
No way Marco reacted to Chouchou for the prologue introduction. One of my fav experimental japanese music duos of all time. Voyager is actually a track off of their Hello, Astronauts EP which is a space themed project!
I highly recommend their whole discography to anyone who likes this type of surreal lullaby-like music with an Electronic influence here and there.
The visuals from the prologue animation are callbacks from the first game.
Also, didn't expect a GFL 2 ad here, nice!
Btw you will probably enjoy Darture's boss fight themes Black Eye pt1 and pt2, we get a bit of it in that prologue mission.
Hell yeah brother, I'm happy to see GFL content on the channel!
I love that "spinning in circles" beginning this song has, it gives it a vibe I can't explain but quite adore.
GFL1 and 2 both have a lot of soundtracks you should listen to! Absolute bangers!
I'm very happy to see you enjoy Girls Frontline soundtracks, I've discover Vanguard Sound with it and love the OST ! The prologue trailer have some nice GF1 references for those who had played it
The Girls Frontline universe is filled with Vanguard Studio works, and as you experienced with wuwa and pgr they never let us down. Any more chance to hear gfl2, or even gfl1 (it has a lot of vocal tracks) soundtracks in the future?
WuWa's soundtracks are not made by Vanguard Sound Studios, stop this misinfo.
Well WuWa certainly let everyone down with the music, even if it's gotten marginally more polished in the most recent patch. Still a lot of time for them to improve it.
Musics been great and it'll only get better. Definitely not a let down at all even with parts of 1.0 that is still good.
Vanguard does not make music for withering Waves. Also check the last post of wuwa for 2.0, especially the one of prologa, they are 1:1 to the best pet of genshin @@dka0314
Vanguard Sound Studio. Enough said.
It's weird that I have never seen you reacting to any GFL 1 music. Most of their vocal songs are some of my favorite tracks of game OST. They even had J'Nique Nicole sang on of their song.
great explanations
I love that chorus so much aaa I hope more tracks have similar ones here
that opening animation had me oddly emotional when I was playing despite my lack of knowledge, I'm still reading a document of the timeline its so intriguing lol
I adore the alt history they've written here, it's crazy they started with something close to the next century (I think) but went back to write all this stuff into the cold war era
They said you can play this without prior knowledge but after seeing some of this document I feel like you should know at least some of it
I've heard a few gfl1 tracks over the years since it's vanguard sound and ofc the game was known in anime circles, regretfully never thought much while listening to them back then so now I'm gonna try to appreciate everything they've created
also reverse collapse is peak and y'all should buy it, this truly is chinas kojima at work
GFL pog 1 and 2
This intro song absolutely blew me away when I first saw it, GFL hasn't always been my first choice with games like this. But this was absolutely glorious. For those wondering this song is a special trailer mix of the song Voyager by Chouchou. Its not too far different from the original song it just expands a bit quicker through the chorus, and in my opinion I prefer this mix over it. There is also a much calmer, and softer version call "Lull"
The cinematic was absolutely stunning and not something I expected from GFL.
Have been playing GFL2 and the story so far has been really intriguing and the gameplay is fun. I think you would really enjoy your time with it.
Really enjoy you takes of all this various music! Good work!
I'm glad you like it!
We need Marco to hear more GFL tracks! Great video!!
Oh, I myself stay put on the event screen just to listen to this...or at the very least when idle, I usually stay on such a screen than any other.

Hello! I would like to recommend that you listen to the music from the wonderful and almost forgotten game Gris..! Thank you for your awesome videos!
Gris is amazing!
Checkout some of the songs from GFL1 as well.
most of them are by Vanguard sound so ya know it's good :3
GFL1 also have incredible music. Give it a shot Marco!
Been playing GFL1 since late 2018 or early 2019. While the gameplay is lack lustre and it can absolutely be a grind, the story elements and world building are incredible. I highly recommend anyone that’s considering playing GFL2 to watch a lore video to truly understand what you’re getting into.
Woah, Girls' Frontline mentioned!!
Sojourners' soundtrack reflects the stress at the start of the event, and the hope you find at the end of it
I used to play GFL almost daily for some years and the game has a special place in my heart.
Decided to leave it after a while because I couldn't keep up with the increasing difficulty but even after leaving no other game felt the same to me.
I have high expectations for the story in this game, though learning what happened to Griffin the fate of the dolls that used to be part of it really hits me hard.
The battle music always hyping me upppppp... Genshin and GFL 2 has this quality at the top of the peakkkkkkk🔥
Oh no,he found YZ's wild ride. The ride never stops here. If you want the whole details of the YZ'verse I suggest watching the cutscenes for GFL1. While you can hop into GFL2 without knowing much, the finer details will be understood with that long watch of the previous game.
Fun fact. If I recall I believe Poincare Recurrence was over 200k words in Chinese.
The first game had a lot of heavy pieces. Shattered Connexion, Moment of My Nightmare, Twilight, are all exceptional songs. Tacenda from Reverse Collapse, the sequel to both GFL1 and GFL2 (odd order I know), is probably the best in the entire series, as the meaning evolves and become more clear with each chapter verse by verse. It’s a song about bittersweet hope amongst endless tragedy and immeasurable suffering.
Funny enough, that "wave" bit is extremely similar to something i remember hearing in blue planet or something similar.
GFL is packed with metal Gear References the whole opening gives the MGS3 almost James bond style they went for
I beg of you, check out the music for Project Neural Cloud, a sort of spin-off game set in the Girls Frontline universe. The battle tracks especially are all absolute bangers and the layering they do to transition between calm map exploration to battles and then boss battles is incredible.
Girls Frontline have lot of incredible music. I myself would love if you could react on Mythoclast and Reunion, which are two variants of same theme once for meeting certain character as enemy and once as ally.
Vanguard Sound are experts at their craft
wake me up when Kinoko sing a song for this game.
i wish it related to William too
GFL is what Vanguard start from then they go make PGR songs as well so no surprise at all
Ah yes, Vanguard Sound and Girls Frontline.
They go way back.

GFL music is sooooooooo good and story as well. This is the only game where i stopped playing the game but watch 3-13 HOURS of basically a visual novel. Each chapter is like 3 hrs of reading and a major event chapter is like 8 to 13 hours and thats not including gameplay.

girls frontline 2 its a great xcom, with GREAT story, just watch the story already is incredible, this with a good gameplay....
You ahould check out Steel Haze (where truths meet) if you havent already, in my opinion its a really nice song
I'm just going to warn you in case you're thinking about playing GFL1, it's a HUGE game and very oldschool. It takes a lot of time and manual grinding to build up your account. It's a huge investment. Love GFL1 but it's so hard to start now. GFL2, on the other hand, is great to start now!
Only problem I have with GFL2 is the energy system is damn rough. It's quite hard to level up after a certain point, but the story and the event both DEMAND you to achieve a relatively high level to actually be able to take part in the entire thing. Not to mention how basically nothing outside of supply missions and the main campaign, aside from dailies, give you any EXP towards leveling up. There's just not enough energy to participate.
Groza my beloved.
