Thank you. I have the same problem with an Emtek handle, and I am grateful to have your video showing the key steps of this repair.

That was painful to watch without using snap ring pliers.

If the spring if reversed, will that change the handing on the lever? We switched our back door from an out swing to an in swing and I'm trying to avoid buying a new handle if possible.

Fyi the clamp is called a C-clip. They sell a specific c clip plier. It makes the job easier!😀thank you for the video.

Thanks for the video. Emtek will send you free torsion spring replacements, so no need to buy them on eBay or Amazon. Just email them with a picture of your Emtek handle. I got mine in the mail only three days after asking.

Snap ring pliers would have made this job 10x easier! I also would have liked to know if you replaced the nylon washer on the outside? Mine are pretty worn.

You should be using a pair of snap ring pliers and you should not be doing this video without the proper equipment

Not really. Most homeowners are not ever going to use snap ring pliers for anything in life. This is clumsy but gets it done without the purchase of a tool that most will never use again. This is the most accurate video for how the average non-pro, everyday homeowner with no tools and no skill will do this job.

Many, Many Thanks!! You saved me from buying a new door knob, taught me a new skill, and gave me a HUGE boost of confidence on a day I really needed it!!

No reason for the average homeowner to buy snap ring pliers if they are only going to do this once every 20 years.

seems like a helpful video but the sound quality isn’t great. at least i can’t really hear your voice with the volume turned all the way up on my phone :(

“This is the hardest part trying to pry this off…”. No, it’s actually the easiest part of the job. You just need a set of reversible snap ring pliers.

I came here to say this. A pair of snap ring pliers is only, what, 5.00 at home depot? Maybe 10.00?

Thanks for this. I have a prelimary question. In my case it is the exterior lever that is sagging. Which I can't seem to get off. I took off the interior handle as described here (undo the screws on the rosette), and there is a blue plastic alignment guide that prevents me from removing the latch mechanism, which I think I have to do to get the exterior lever off? I did unscrew the little allen wrench bolt on the exterior handle, but that seems to have no effect on that handle - doesn't allow me to get it off. I can't figure out how else to get to the spring on the exterior handle. Anyone know?

Nice video, made the spring replacement much easier after watching the video. The retaining ring on my handle was more like an e-clip. I got my replacement torsion spring on amazon for slightly more than ebay price but it came in a couple of days with free shipping and it did have the QR code to get to this video.
