A rhapsody in music is a one-movement work that is episodic yet integrated, free-flowing in structure, featuring a range of highly contrasted moods, colour, and tonality. An air of spontaneous inspiration and a sense of improvisation make it freer in form than a set of variations.
Released first in 1975. Queen were a English band and you wil havel heard them before. "We Are The Champions" track is one you'll have heard at football games etc. Watch Queen playing at the 1985, Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium, London. They blew all the other acts away!
As a 60 year old white man who's very first concert I attended was in fact Queen, I love your reaction to something I've known all my life. You my friend, know what good music is. God Bless, peace.
This song was written by Freddie, who was also an opera fan. The producers didn't want to release this one - it was too long! Watch "Green Day 2017 at Hyde Park" where, before another concert, this song was played, and more than 60,000 attendees sang every word and note of Bohemian Rhapsody, including the guitar riffs. This was in 2017, about 26 years after Freddie died. He will live on forever for many of us.
Awesome! Maybe you heard a bit of this from the movies Suicide Squad or Wayne's world. Quick brush up:the lead singer is Freddie Mercury, drummer is Roger Taylor, bass guitarist is John Deacon and lead guitarist is Brian May. I'm surprised you haven't heard about the biopic movie about them, its the same title as their song: Bohemian Rhapsody? I highly recommend it. Also check out documentaries-The days of our lives, Freddie Mercury:The untold story, and The Show must go on The Queen+Adam Lambert story. The best part of Queen is they don't have just one genre, they don't mean one thing: they are timeless, cross genres and even now their music is a breath air because of their pure talent. In case your wondering, the band rarely if ever told people what their songs were about, they rather let the individuals interpret it for themselves. A popular interpretation of the "mama just killed a man" part is the lead singer, Freddie Mercury as coming out as gay and that his old straight self is dead, thats just one of them. Poetry and music doesn't always have to make sense, just enjoy it for its own sake. You are in for a wild ride! Maybe you've heard their works in tasing but didn't realize it: we will rock you, we are the champions, somebody to love, another one bites the dust, crazy little thing called love, your my best friend, etc. I highly recommend White Queen live at the odeon Hammersmith, stone cold crazy live at the rainbow, and fat bottom girls among many. Basically, whatever kind of music or songs you want, they got it! enjoy!
I’m an old fat white guy who is now 75 !! When this came out, I was THIRTY !!! We all went nuts for it !! We knew it was great even back then !! Got the biggest kick outta the kick you got out of it !! Really enjoyed your happy reaction !! Lots of fun ! Keep havin' fun !!! Thanks !!
Yes, Queen was it's own genre!!! And Freddie Mercury, the lead singer was an AMAZING person!! He's been EXTREMELY missed!! R.I.P. Freddie, LOOK you're STILL changing lives!!!🙏 Sadly he lost his battle with AIDS Nov 24th 1991 at 45yrs old!😰😥
Their performance at Live Aid was one of the best performances of all times! Freddie was asked at one time what instrument do you play, and he said the audience! He was such a unique, super talented musician and his audiences loved him!
You need a headset! The harmonies are crazy! Been listening to Queen and Freddie since I was 9 or 10. Greatness! Freddie once said 'I am going to be a pop star! No, I am going to be a legend!' And he is!
I LOVE sering a new generation appreciate the lengendary music of the 70's and 80's. It's like reliving my youth all over again, and my feelings when I first heard these songs.
It's three songs in one. Also in the very beginning Freddie is doing all the parts. He was an amazing man. I love him. Always feel the emotion in his voice. Queen Rules. Freddie Mercury piano and lead Brian May lead guitar John Deacon bass and Roger Taylor drums. Roger also hits the really high notes the high Galileo. Pure legend.
A friend of Freddies, Kenny Everett, got a copy of this song. He was a DJ and "promised" not to play it. Over the course of a couple of weeks he "accidentally" played pieces of the song. Listeners went wild demanding to hear the whole song. Kenny then played it 14 times in 2 days. Listeners then called the station wanting to buy it. Problem was the record company had refused to release either the song or the album. This song was a hit before it was released lol. Eventually it was released and now lives on as one of the greatest songs ever.
Btw the set is 20 mins long .. every band had 20 mins for entire day in worldwide televised event happening simultaneously in Philadelphia and London Wembley. Anyone who was anyone performed but Queen is universally acknowledged to have given the best live performance ever. It will give you a view of Freddie that will amaze you
Bohemian Rhapsody is rock opera at it's best. Amazing fact about Queens' lead guitarist Brian May. He was actually working on getting his Ph.D in astrophysics when Queen was formed. Music meant so much to him so he put his doctorate on the back burner. After Freddie Mercury died, Queen disbanded. Even while still part of the group Brian and his father designed and built a new kind of guitar. Brian's IQ has been measured in the 160's. That's even beyond Big Bang Theory smart. So he was a real genius on top of being a musical genius. after Queen disbanded, Brian went back to working toward his doctorate. He finally got it in 2006 or 7. He's now Dr. Brian May Ph.D. He's also written about 6 books on the subject of astrophysics.
OK, this is roughly the 40th reaction to this song I've watched in the last 24-36 hours (I'm retired and have no life obviously, but what better way spend my time than watching Queen's B.H. 40 times?). Holla, you and Jarrett are 2 completely opposite personalities, but you are tied in my book for the best reactions to this song. Just goes to show you how Queen and this song grab all of us in the chest and make us gasp. Want another chest grabber? Watch the crowd on any of the Green Day events singing this entire song. It has become a tradition. My favorite is the most recent one at Fenway Park on 8/5/21. Thanks for sharing your truly heartfelt reaction.
Someone to Love, Don’t Stop Me Now, Under Pressure...just a few more Queen. You haven’t heard music until you’ve heard Queen, and Freddie’s vocal range.
They did use this in different shows. The way they arranged this music..all the genres...everything! Just a masterpiece! No one did music like this!!! They fought to keep this song at the length they made it! They were told no radio station will play it ..its too long! But they stuck to there guns and it blew up every radio station! Freddie Mercury (lead singer) was Indian and he brought his culture and love of opera into this! Well..love of music in general really! He was exceptional in many ways!

Stop,I'm crying here! It's one of my favorite songs.
You need a headset! The harmonies are crazy! Been listening to Queen and Freddie since I was 9 or 10. Greatness!
Freddie once said 'I am going to be a pop star! No, I am going to be a legend!' And he is!
music heals and unites...he left it for YOU to find!PEACE
Listen to music from every genre...it will enrich your soul beyond measure. Music is the common language of humanity.
I LOVE sering a new generation appreciate the lengendary music of the 70's and 80's. It's like reliving my youth all over again, and my feelings when I first heard these songs.
Yes, you did indeed hear Opera music in cartoons. Freddie loved opera and this song made us all love his rock opera!
Pure legend.
was Freddie coming out song...beautiful written and played song...and how he did it...rip Freddie...thanks for all your music...it will live on....
The greatest song ever written !!!!!!!!!!
Welcome to the world of Queen
The first time you heard Freddie sing this...congratulations! You've just discovered MUSIC.
Freddie has been gone for nearly 30 years, but he never fails to impress. the song was in wayne world
Rock, opera, easy listening with some deep soul - now that’s””” EAR CANDY “””!!!
That opening harmony gives me chills every time I hear it!
Freddie Mercury was the GOAT of rock! The voice , the attitude and the wild life. RIP FM
You have just witnessed the best Rock Band & Front Man in history ❤️ And NO, those are real goosebumps, I still get them listening to this song, since it's release in 1979 ❤️ Please continue down the QUEEN highway, you won't be disappointed!!! One of my best experiences in life, was seeing QUEEN live in concert 🤤
Freddie Mercury did the whole intro, all harmonies, all by himself. What a talent
They also sing it In the movie Waynes World
It's where I think everyone who thinks they have heard it somewhere have heard it. The iconic headbanging scene is now a must in our household! Strap your necks up people, cause heads gonna dislocate up in here.🤟
Exactly my uncle actually showed me the movie when I younger and Wayne's world is everything to me! Its my childhood movie! We play the song at my job and I wanna headbang to the song so bad lmao
Listen to this song again WITH headphones. Whole new experience!
Queens original record company they were signed too said this song could never be popular or play on radio because it’s so long. It’s brilliant. It’s a rock opera
In an interview he stated that he had 3 songs he was working on and couldn't finish them . so he spliced them together
You definitely heard Queen songs all your life, without knowing it was them! Even my East German self knew We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions! 😉
One of the best songs ever written and performed.
Congrats for seeing the light finally! :D
It is a wonderful world with Queen in it!
Incredible! Genius! The voice of four men sounding like a choir.
Its hard for me to believe this your first time hearing this song, when this about this about the 1,00,00,00 time I've heard it.
I like how part way through, what is still the beginning, he goes like the whole mood just changed, and I'm thinking just wait we're not there yet LOL
You just witnessed a life-changing song. You'll never forget it now. Before you know it, you will know it word for word!!
i bet there are so many queen songs you’ve heard without realising they’re by queen but still love the song (i went to a thing called young voices and we sang somebody to love but i didn’t realise it was by queen and it was my FAVOURITE)
It was in the movie WAYNES WORLD
I don’t always understand how some people haven’t heard this awesome song before. It’s better in so many tv shows and movies - Wayne’s World. Also I have to say that Brian May doesn’t get enough credit for his guitar talent
It is NOT anyone's fault for not having known this song. Did you grow up with everyone humming Bach? Nina Simone?
Kevin Zhang - I wasn’t “faulting” anyone. I wasn’t being so serious, as if it were life or death. Just my wonder.
Talking of B Sides, the B Side to this was I’m In Love With My Car which was written by Roger Taylor. He locked himself in a cupboard and refused to come out until they said it could be the B Side.
Absolutely love this. Thanku for doing this..you are so much fun. .queen..legends. .Freddie was so unique. .outstanding performer. ..so cool church shouted you out..yay. .thanku love an god bless x
Bohemian Rhapsody is the number one streamed song of the century; the video is over 1 billion. Welcome to Queen, my fav band. You’ve certainly heard some of their stadium anthem. My fav song is Somebody To Love; I suggest official video before live, just to compare how well they perform live. Enjoy the journey to one of the greatest in history.
