I spotted him back in the mid '80s, but was never sure. I stopped the tape and pulled out my copy of THE SELECTED LETTERS OF RAYMOND CHANDLER (with a photo of him smoking his pipe on the cover) and said "It's just got to be."

Oh my God how fucking cool. I have the movie on VHS and have seen it 5 or 6 times but I never noticed. In my defense I hardly watch my VHS collection anymore
