I am curious if the exercises will help. If you can mark atiempo with your foot, maybe tapping your heel, and clapping the contra, that may work... since the heel is a lower pitch, you'll be marking all the beats but emphasizing the contratiempo one TWO three FOUR five SIX seven EIGHT.
@@MessinaDance Your video helped a lot, but it seems still a bit of a challenge as the other beats just tend to overpower the contratiempo beats for me, especially when I am dancing. I can hear it when my teacher counts it out, but trying to isolate it by myself is hard. I probably just need more practice and exposure to get more familiar with it. Thanks for checking in! I was really surprised! I am using your videos to help me improve.
This video helped me understand the rhythm of the dance so much thanks man. Had no idea how to count the time before this. Pretty sure Im ready for the steps now.
@@MessinaDance Maybe about drills with partner, because I feel comfortable dancing solo but when I try with a girl who is less skilled in salsa I have problem with leading. I do too hard or too soft So she cant read my intentions
I dont usually like videos, because I use Liked Videos to to be a list of videos that I wanna get back to later and I wanna keep the list short ( and I am a jerk lol ) - 48 secs into this video I still have no idea what he has to say but the way he delivered the video, the transitions I gotta give it to the man. You have my like, sir.
Thanks! I usually include it to get people to find what they may be looking for with search results but one of the first missions is to get "casino" in their vocabulary :)
I honestly think that the director's job in these videos is very smart and funny! It could easily be a tv series!)) You know... cute camera transitions and shit!
Ha! Thanks... I think I said "edit"... the red numbers changing every beat was a nightmare, but hopefully a useful video for those who need a little help with rhythm.
Going to do a video with a different approach soon. Putting up one today for an afrocuban dance that identifies different instruments in the rhythm and release them to the steps, hope you will check it out.
You cannot teach soul or groove or flow. Its too complicated to explain why. You can get better at it. Let me say it again. You can improve at the simple pieces of timing. But if you can't feel the music in a way that is deep and soulful you never will.
LOVED THE INTRO!!! Especially the turquoise towel. Good one. I was too distracted after it. Lol. On a serious note, great video.
I love Palo, and now I love you!!! OMG thank you from Lisbon, Portugal

I'm just glad I never have to do it again 😅🤣😂
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the explanation! For some strange reason, the contratiempo beats are so hard for me to get.

@@MessinaDance Good idea! I will try that. Thanks!
Let me know if it helps. Will be making a separate video for contratiempo and atiempo timimgs.
@@blubei how is the contratiempo coming? Thinking of making it the next video :)

A great little theory/counting lesson! Really glad to have found your channel (subscribed).
I appreciate you watching!
Very good done. Cheers. Have subscribed. I also feel a big respect that you do not call casino dance - cuban salsa.

Excellent ! a little fast speaking for me but very good ;-)
Great video! I just wish you broke it down alittle more and made it easier to understand how you’re finding those beats.
