Scraping off 1000 layers of spray paint

- My paintings keep getting stuck to this table… so it’s time to clean it off. I’ve found the easiest way to remove all the built up paint is with citrus strip and a putty knife.

Every time I clean a table someone says this 😅 but until someone actually offers to buy it for enough money for it to make sense packaging shipping and getting a new table, I’m just gonna keep cleaning them 😂🤙
@@CaseyDoesEverything i dont paint with spray paint, yet, but when i paint, i put dollar store plastic table cloths down. They last fairly long and at 1.25 They seem disposable enough.

Given the fact that you measure piants like spray paint in µm, or micrometer, these are really a 1000+ layers of paint on your table.
I'm also a spraypaint artist, and I recently ran into the same problem with my paintings sticking to the table. It destroyed an $80 commission that I was very proud of, so I want to try cleaning my table with this method if I can find that orange cleaning agent you used.

Plastic tablecloth from Dollar Tree +
Painters tape to secure it underneath also from Dollar Tree +
Total for easy cleanup = 2.50
Also when you are ready to get rid of do you know pink covered tablecloth you might step back and take a look at it as a separate piece of art In and of itself. To me that tabletop look like doorways into alternate dimension Mikey you could pick one and use it as an access point to cross over into somewhere else so if you were to get a big posterboard and adherently painted tablecloth to it well there you go a separate work of art.
cheaper than that, a huge roll of paper table cover that you would find at a seafood restaurant. they sell it in 500ft rolls at table width.
Hello Casey. I use a roll of painters paper on my tables. The dollar store table clothes that people are suggesting have paint chips like crazy. The paper absorbs the paint a good bit, so there isn't a problem with the paint chips. I bought a roll at Lowes for $14, that is 100 feet long. I have only measured out enough to cover my six feet tables three times. One length was destroyed after being rained on about 6 times, the one I replaced that with, and a traveling one for events. At $14 for 100 feet,, the paper is not only better than the plastic table clothes, but cheaper in the long run.

Lay some canvas material over the table and staple it in and then next time remove the staples and chuck it on a frame and boom!

I work at a body shop and there is art in breaking off the old paint from paint stands and polishing into pretty stones.

If you coat it with a couple of layers of black (any color really) latex house paint 1st you can just scrape it and it will peel off after a bunch of layers of spray paint.
That was satisfying..Not quite as satisfying as pulling a sticker fully in tack off of a surface, but close.
I'm alittle surprised your paint remover didn't start to desolve your table top.What compound/material is your foldable?
Not sure if you are still having issues with stripping the paint. But I recommend peel away or smart strip. Peel away will take away about 30 layers of paint. It is sheets of a stripper than you lay on top of it and let it sit. The smart strip is a less harsh option that shouldnt damage the plastic table however it takes a few hours of letting it sit there to do its job.
Fair warning, both aren't cheap. Expect to pay about $50 or more for either of them.

you could have just sprayed a clear coat or smth over it so you keep the nice look and it would probably be less work too

You should have sold the table as a piece. It looks awesome before you cleaned it😂❤❤❤ or start doing paintings on furniture and clear choosing it so it holds up to light wear and tear. Would be awesome to use a lifetime table with 1 of your pieces painted onto it as game table or party table. Heck any furniture painted would be sweet conversation piece. ❤❤❤

I dont know if you will see this, but might wanna try coating your tables with plastidip. You might to be able to just peel the paint coated layer right off the table with no chemicals

Maybe build I wooden picnic table where u don’t have to keep scraping off old paint . Imo ur doing the best thing by using the white table and scraping it every so often. It don’t take very long and it’s simple way great job

In last work place i just used knive tip to "lift" paint strip off and it worked because bottom was well dry
