    A Gogg is a ocean god and it has to deliver judgement.

  • @AzraelThanatos
    @AzraelThanatos Год назад +9

    Just as a thing about the torpedoes being front/belly mounted, that doesn't matter as much as long as you're not shooting them at the target point blank...which you probably aren't doing that anyway unless you're already in trouble. They're guided weapons there that can be fired to go around you or a lot of other things with it.
    Honestly, I think the main Gogg and the origin one are the same basic machine, the Thunderbolt one is a heavily customized ones that seem to be more of designed more for aquatic deployment but arctic combat there while the original is intended to, largely, be fighting in the water with some surface combat being something it's capable of but not optimized for.

    Gogg would be great at the BRIGHT NOA SLAP😂🤣. But seriously there's no reason not to have heat blades as you could simply turn them off for stealth mode.

    First of all great video series! Hope you keep them coming!
    Second, I wanted to point out that the Gogg’s beam weapons aren’t regular mega particle guns, but deflection type mega particle guns.
    The difference lies in the use of an I-field generator instead of a turret barrel, which also allows to deflect/turn the direction of the beam by 20 degrees or produce a scattering beam.
    The Zanzibar and the Dom used similar weapons, though in the case of the Dom, its output wasn’t high enough to allow it fire a focused beam, their only scattering as a blinding weapon. The Zanzibar is shown performing a similar feat during Ramba Ral’s retreat after his initial confrontation with Amuro.
    Though, it’s worth mentioning that in the TV series, a Dom of the Black Tri-Stars did use it as a beam gun. Also, the MS-10 Pezun Dwadge is commonly shown as having this weapon operating in this fashion.
    All this being long said, most later depictions, specially games, have dumbed down these weapons into regular straight firing beam weapons.
    MSG Federation VS Zeon (PS2) comes to mind as a game that did show the Gogg using these weapons as scattering beam guns.
    In the end, it actually made a lot of sense to install these into the Gogg, given that the flaw you mentioned in having to face the enemy directly in order to aim these weapons would be at least slightly mitigated by having the deflection effect provide a wider firing angle.
    As a side note: the MSM-06 Jurick (MSV-R) actually makes a better case for an improved Gogg design than the Hygogg. In fact, the later was originally going to be a different MS, the MSM-05/B Gock, but apparently they decided to go with the connection to the Gogg to set it as a missing link between the Gogg and the AMX-009 Capule developed by Axis/Neo Zeon.

      wow i didn't know that thank you for that explanation that explains the look and why it shoots differently in the show wish we got more info that went more in-depth tec wise since i didnt see anything mentioning this but i will keep a note for future MS that have it.
      also good to know someone else knows the jurick i love that odd gorilla looking thing with a unholy amount of MPC slapped on to it.

    • @DarkAlex1978
      @DarkAlex1978 2 года назад +2

      Yeah, he is right. I remember the scattering fire and that it didn't does much damage on the Gundam (which puzzled me), but until now I never thought it was the same kind of weapon installed on the Dom.
      The later depiction caused a lot of confusion too.
      I too agree about the Jurick. The Hygogg is a good design, but imho is so much different from the Gogg that is just not believable as its immediate successor.

    The thunderbolt gogg to me looks more like something the titans would use since it's a lot more angular.
    Would you also consider doing an episode on the zaku marine type? It seems rather interesting.

    • @AzraelThanatos
      @AzraelThanatos Год назад

      I think the Thunderbolt gogg is one that they adjusted for surface combat, in a deploy underwater and then fight on the surface there while the original is intended to, largely, fight in the water but it's armor and bulk meant that it could face off with the RX-78-2 just by the sheer armor designed for dealing with deeper depths. It's basically a weaponized deep sea diving suit turned into a mobile suit.

  • @DarkAlex1978
    @DarkAlex1978 2 года назад +4

    Who said that the Gundam Hammer is not canon? XD
    About the Gogg, I love the machine: it's like a massive ogre with brutal claws XD
    I'd add another downside about having all the weapons inside the abdoment, expecially the torpedo launchers or more precisely, the ammo. Maybe is unlikely given the Gogg's thick armor, but one streak of ill luck and boom: the Gogg will be blowed in half by its own ammo reserve.
    On the multi-segmented arm, as design is also more suited for slashing movements using claws.
    To be honest the Thunderbolt version does not makes very sense: it's a bit pointless to have heat based claws in a vehicle meant to operate on/underwater. The very enviroment will nerf your weapon damage capability. It's like to be armed with an ice sword on a volcanic planet.

    • @slothcakes
      @slothcakes  2 года назад

      heat claws fall under the rule of cool they are not practical but damn there cool
      plenty of ms have internal ammo its just many MS dont carry a lot of ammo much less than you think so a lucky hit to the ammo can happen but very unlikey also i do like is wavy funny arms gives him more area of range but also looks goofy
