Watched one episode. It's BRILLIANT so far. Camila Morrone is freaking gorgeous, and the chemistry and banter between the leads is fire. Very enthralling and spooky, and visually stunning. I'm hooked.
I would not watch 8 episodes or even one just to know what the hell is this series about... for now just looks like a remake of "Ready Or Not".. others can waste time with this.. not for me.
It's good and creepy for the first couple of episodes but it quickly loses steam. It should have been shorter or a 2 hour film tbh. That still doesn't take away from the god awful lighting and focusing issues it seems to have imo
And those people who complain are watching either on their Phone, ipads, or laptop. Lolz! For me good series like this should be watch on Big TV with surround speakers. Love the cinematics and story line. Can’t wait for Season 2.
I searched for "I'm thinking of ending things" since I didn't know the movie, and YT gave back a helpline page because it thought I wanted to.. you know.. end things.
@namero999 Someone once asked AI that they wanted to take their car to a car wash but the car wash was about 100m from their home so should they just walk there or go with the car? AI said since it's so near they could just walk plus the exercise , sunshine and fresh air would have additional physical , emotional and psychological benefits. 🤨🤨🤨🤨🧐
Imagine if nothing bad happens and she is just getting cold feet. Or the bad thing that happens is that she goes to a mental hospital because she's a paranoid schizophrenic. Classic misdirection.
@jeanine1406yes, response was for other comment, wondering why they want it to say movie or show, miniseries? They do put that on Netflix Yes I know the difference between a series and a movie, lol
This is so ridiculously underlit, it might as well be a parody. The more often I remember that I never had a streaming service subscription, the happier I get.
Good! Its made exactly for you. Another casual "thriller" series that pretends to have something to do with horror but is actually made for moms and teenage girls that will literally break down mentally if they watch a real thriller or horror.
All the people comparing this to Get Out makes me think people didn't pick up on a) the dark humor and b) the social commentary happening in that movie. Ya know. The stuff that made it unique and gave it flavor.
Feels like there are dozens of movies like this now. Maybe the plot twist in this one is that nothing terrible happens and it would be actually something new for the genre.
I think the ultimate twist would be that everyone is just insanely weird and creepy but otherwise normal, they get married like normal and the show just ends :P
I quite liked this series, especially that twist at the end 😅. I guess this is what it feels like for many marriage obsessed families, when someone goes against the tradition- ☠️ inside 😩
actually sad that u cant have a movie nowadays thats even remotely similar to another movie without it being compared to. must suck being a director nowadays when so many ideas have been already done
It’s not that stories have already been done, it’s that studios like Netflix are depending on nostalgia and the familiar beats of a popular story to boost the popularity of their releases. It’s part of the formula to build that into the movie because more people are supposed to want to watch it if it looks like another movie they liked. Still depressing for a director
Shooting in low light with a high speed lens is dope.. many of you won't understand cinematography and how natural light or ambience can be manipulated to create cinematic images.
Im an avid horror fan, and nothing really gets me, until i watched this, it was amazing, after a few episodes of what you think is "happening" it suddenly changes, it was very very clever, i loved it, the whole thing was executed brilliantly, the music, the story, the bigger picture in fact was the question of monogamy and what constitutes marriage not the "sorry man", it will be a netflix highlight for me.
The comment/review you looking for: If you looking for an airy, unique but oddly filmed 'horror', about a family stuck in a cabin for 8 episodes building up to a wedding day...with some really no-sense plot, followed by a TON of wasted time and a bunch of blood in the last episode with a terrible ending, this is for you. If you watched episode one, and hooked because its one of those series where you have to see the end, skip a lot through episodes, cats up for 2 minutes then just keep going, you'll be fine, you won't miss much.
This is the kind of review I was anticipating to see, because trailers nowadays typically include a LOT of from the show/movie, but it doesn't seem like there's much going on for this to be 8 episodes worth of content. Unless I need some background noise some day, I'm skipping out on this one. The duffer brothers are over-hyped in my opinion, yet Netflix will probably keep providing massive budgets for their projects simply because they have a recognizable name for people to be curious enough to engage in whatever shows or movies they may create.
I am absolutely OBSESSED with this miniseries. Absolutely stellar. My favorite TV this year next to The Pitt. The first half is really scary and mysterious in a really interesting way, and when they start unwrapping the lore in the back half you'd think it would fold in on itself and lose steam and finish in a contrived or predictable way, but it just keeps evolving in interesting unexpected directions and finding new reasons to be compelling. And the fact they pulled off the ending they did is mind blowing. Really just an outstanding accomplishment. It is not tainted by the Duffer Bros lending it their clout, that's just branding. They could never make something this rich and creative and original. I don't regret all nightering to binge this one bit. It was a really cool way to embed horror inside of pessimism about love and marriage and vice versa, intertwining them so that the horror of the supernatural elements can't be disentangled from the horror of the prospect of marrying the wrong person. This is not "Ready or Not meets Get Out" as some people were cynically commenting. Ready or Not doesn't do even 1% as much as this does to really unpack and explore the inherent horror of meeting the unfamiliar family of the person you're eloping with and hoping that they accept you into their family and they're not insane. And it doesn't ever actually take that concept seriously in the way this really did, stretching it all the way to its breaking point without ever disrupting the fantasy or breaking the immersion. And Get Out is a masterpiece but it's really about race in the context of the specific premise it's manifesting with those specific characters, whereas this is tapping into something that everyone can feel horrified by without ever meeting ultra racist murderous in laws. Idk there's something really special about how this pulled it off and I don't think I've ever seen the "meeting the in laws" framing done so well. Cannot recommend enough.
Impressive didn't have great expectations (wondered how they could drag it out to 8 eps and hold my interest) but it more than held my interest, great cast, story telling, very unique style..
I thought you all are just laughing and then I realized my screen IS on full brightness. Now I’m imagining editors of this show very quickly redoing the whole show so we can actually see it
Maybe fewer bad things would happen if they’d turn a damn light on
yes, when i go to the toilet in the middle of the night and fail to turn the light on, bad things often happen.
I was asking the same thing.. why so dark… 😂😂😂😂😂
@roberts5539😅
lol
LMAO i knew something is wrong here
when he said " my parent's cabin in the woods" i knew it was over
Me too😂
😂
what's wrong with cabins - I don't know - just before the woods start? Just in a field or still seen from the city but not IN the city.
"Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen" didn't give it away? 😭
@isabelmcarthur7092 cabins are evil. Cabins in the woods are more evil. It is known.
Director : camera action
Lightman : sir lights?
Director : we don't have budget for this
I am so tired of this. I feel like it started with The Irishman. Maybe earlier but it's getting worse and worse. Black Phone, Weapons, now this. Ugh.
😂
lol I turned the light up on my phone 😂😂😂
I am trying to see by increasing my device brightness 😂😂😂
@allthingsveganllc7325same here😂😂
Netflix is saving a fortune on the lighting by making it so dark
Yo! Do how water tanker trucks of blood they needed instead. Finally accounting gets it right🤣
Never bothers me
Thought yall was joking then i realized my brightness is all the way up
Puss cakes that can't watch shit in a dark room...
Thought my laptop was dying how dark this trailer was
Lol me too, had to double check my settings 😂
once again Netflix is pushing the boundary of how dark can we make this look until u can't see what's on the screen
😄
I thought i was the only one
@hayquesonar2896me too!
@hayquesonar2896 Same
Game of thrones s8 playbook. Worked out well for them
Since Netflix doesn't like to share: This one is a show, not a movie. Limited series, 8 episodes.
Thanks for mentioning it. I wonder why netflix doesn't specify whether it's a tv series or a movie.
Ah I thought it was a movie.😅
Even better
OMG THANK YOU! I was literally asking that question as I saw your comment!
Ugh. Thats like ×4 the amount of time I am willing to give for this plot line.
"Get Out" meets "Ready or Not" meets "Together"
Maybe a little bit of You’re Next
Dipped in obsessed
And steals from The Drama…?
Starring the kid from White Lotus Season 2
Haha that is what I was thinking lol, would rather watch Ready or Not 2.
0/10! It's so dark that I saw the reflection of my ugly ass face on my phone, and now I'm upset!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
Me too! I cried for weeks.. and thinking moving to Florida
BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
@marklewis4647Damn, Florida?! It must have been bad 😂😂
Watched one episode. It's BRILLIANT so far. Camila Morrone is freaking gorgeous, and the chemistry and banter between the leads is fire. Very enthralling and spooky, and visually stunning. I'm hooked.
That was my first opinion tooafter the first episode but they stretched it too much imo almost nothing happens
Is it gory? Lmk so I can decide if I should watch or not 😅
@lily2petitenot really more atmosphere horror wich it does kinda good
@lily2petite Minimal gore. Just some bleeding really, from what I can remember.
What in the Ready or Not😭
Right ??! Like haven’t we already seen this 😂
This doesn't really look like Ready or Not. That was an action movie.
@Mediabroe405yea I just realized this is a show by the Duffer brothers..I will be checking it out 😂❤
@snackbarqueen As If the movie happens next Friday!!!!😊😊😊😊
Funny you mention that because it comes out a week after Ready or Not 2.
I don't really see any parallels though.
Glad they put so much thought into the title
It works though
It kinda works though, makes people think, what’s gonna happen that’s so bad?
Don't you mean words?
The title is actually good. Let’s wait if the story is as interesting. Or maybe, as the title says, it is bad.
It’s based off a book with the same title
It would be hilarious if he and his family were totally normal and she was just crazy and imagining this in her head.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I hope that’s the case lol
Oh man, you gave it away.
I was thinking the same..
That sounds better 😂
I love the variety in sets here. Dark vs very dark with a few yellow indiscernible highlights and shallow focus. How innovative.
Something bad is about to happen, too bad we won't be able to see it, may we can figure it out from the sounds!
😂😂😂
Feels like "Ready Or Not" without a sense of humor.
Ready or not is the pinnacle of humor, baby
Horror needs humor.
@fatdiver NO
Hmm not really
It’s actually kind of funny and SUPER creepy
I thought my brightness was low😭 it was 100%🙂✌️
I thought it was just me! 😅
Same 😂
SAME LMFAO
Yep, it doesn't make it any brighter even at 100% 😂
SAME! 😂
Crew member: can we turn on the lights?
Director: YOU’RE FIRED!!!!
😂🤣😂🤣
The director was not that aware. She is rather clueless and self absorbed, to be frank.
Also, the DP handles lighting.
0:31 is absolutly an Anselm Kiefer painting
100 percent
Plot twist: Nothing bad ever happens and anything suspicious was just an elaborate prank.
this is how you do a trailer with no spoilers
Or information
I would not watch 8 episodes or even one just to know what the hell is this series about... for now just looks like a remake of "Ready Or Not".. others can waste time with this.. not for me.
You thought it was a movie, but it’s a show.
Really? Shitty trailer imo…. Way too long, and says way too much already. American trailers are getting worse and worse.
@ItsEbanyou’re just jealous of America. Calm down.
The main actress is like Anne Hathaway and Dua Lipa had a child.
I thought it was Dua Lipa 😂
you put into words what I couldnt
She was in Daisy Jones& the Six a great series about fictional 70s band!
Valentina Nappi 🤣
fr. i muttered “she looks like dua lipa” when i first watched the series, but then at some scene i remember thinking she morphed into anne hathaway
Something tells me this movie is giving "GET OUT " vibes
Series
yesss!!! I’m getting those vibes too
@jessiesbubble yes but it's still not a movie as a series
Ohh yes sorry I didnt realise the original commenter called it a movie I thought they were just referring to get out 😂
White People Get Out
It's giving " I'm thinking of ending things " vibes. love this vibe.
99% of comments: Complaining about how a horror series is dark
1% of comments: Appreciating how this show is actually really good
It's good and creepy for the first couple of episodes but it quickly loses steam. It should have been shorter or a 2 hour film tbh. That still doesn't take away from the god awful lighting and focusing issues it seems to have imo
The lighting is SO bad it’s destroys the entire production.
And those people who complain are watching either on their Phone, ipads, or laptop. Lolz! For me good series like this should be watch on Big TV with surround speakers. Love the cinematics and story line. Can’t wait for Season 2.
Horror productions aren't obligated to have bad lighting.
Get your 21st century head out of that hole in the ground.
it's giving "i'm thinking of ending things" mixed with "get out"
Yes!
I searched for "I'm thinking of ending things" since I didn't know the movie, and YT gave back a helpline page because it thought I wanted to.. you know.. end things.
@namero999
Someone once asked AI that they wanted to take their car to a car wash but the car wash was about 100m from their home so should they just walk there or go with the car?
AI said since it's so near they could just walk plus the exercise , sunshine and fresh air would have additional physical , emotional and psychological benefits. 🤨🤨🤨🤨🧐
@Armywolves😂😂😂
I'm glad they let us know in the title, just to clear up any confusion. Something bad is going to happen.
Something *Very* bad.
Imagine if nothing bad happens and she is just getting cold feet. Or the bad thing that happens is that she goes to a mental hospital because she's a paranoid schizophrenic. Classic misdirection.
😂😂😂
It's meant to be a deliberate joke for fans of the genre.😊
I really wish Netflix would put if something is a movie or a show, since apparently this is a miniseries.
Was announced ages ago
They used to.
What’s the difference, movie or series?
@Sally-ih6lsyou don’t know the difference between a movie or a show?!😅
@jeanine1406yes, response was for other comment, wondering why they want it to say movie or show, miniseries? They do put that on Netflix
Yes I know the difference between a series and a movie, lol
This is so ridiculously underlit, it might as well be a parody. The more often I remember that I never had a streaming service subscription, the happier I get.
What do I get from this trailer is" that Cameraman is a vampire "
Paul Anka song, 'You are my Destiny,' is still a thing...What. A. Legend.
I don't know why but I was expecting it to be a movie.... instead, it's an eight episode limited series. So looking forward to binge watching it!
🥳🥳🥳
Same😅😅
Good! Its made exactly for you. Another casual "thriller" series that pretends to have something to do with horror but is actually made for moms and teenage girls that will literally break down mentally if they watch a real thriller or horror.
@iwams1 yikes, someone cannot chill and let others have a good time
Dont bother, its shite
Kinda feel like we've seen this base story a few times the past 5yrs.
Its because they are trying to tell you the truth about what occurs out here.
Not really
Have you seen it?
All the people comparing this to Get Out makes me think people didn't pick up on a) the dark humor and b) the social commentary happening in that movie. Ya know. The stuff that made it unique and gave it flavor.
Anything could happen, we wouldn't know shit with lights off. 😅
Feels like there are dozens of movies like this now.
Maybe the plot twist in this one is that nothing terrible happens and it would be actually something new for the genre.
It’s a tv show
That's also been done before
@melvinjoseph3166 when
This is what I was thinking too
Yes, ready or not, the movie where with Zaza and the cult, hunting party etc
That scene of her in her white wedding dress and the wedding guests all in black is quite telling
Like at many weddings, I almost fell asleep during this trailer.
I held my eyes open while watching this so more light could reach the backs of them
The scary thing is that he wanted to get married. That is the ultimate nightmare.
Looks like Camila got tired of Billy’s shenanigans and wanted her own. 🙃
0:32 that's our Era ...!
I just recognized Albie from White Lotus Season 2.
Right!!
Bad things happened to him then too.
And from Monsters - Netflix
And it’s basically the same character 😭
WE NEED MORE LIMITED SERIES LIKE THIS NETFLIX. Yours truly ✌️
The bad thing: None of the wedding pictures turn out due to low lighting. Photographer won't give the money back 😢
And the bad thing is NO WEEKLY STEEL BALL RUN!!!
I think the ultimate twist would be that everyone is just insanely weird and creepy but otherwise normal, they get married like normal and the show just ends :P
I wish it was this good love but it’s not .
Jennifer Jason Leigh has always been such an underrated actor , I love her. A lot of her best work has been in rare less known indie movies.
This isn't an indie movie, though.
@VGNvideogameninjathey never said this is
This movie from the male perspective is just the wedding
Netflix can't pay for the light bill before GTA 6
I’m feeling Midsommar: The Wedding
Seriously! That's what I thought😂
its brutal
ready or not isn't the first film to have a spooky marriage plot, begging you people to watch movies
Tell em 😂
@felixtheMage-o2grecommend some
yeah obviously but its one of the more popular ones
Almost all of the spooky marriage plot movies have similar plots, the family hosting is weird and/or satanic, so what's your point?
So it’s a rehash of many movies rather than one, got it.
The soundtrack and trailer edit, chef's kiss 👏🏼
couldn't agree more👌👌
I quite liked this series, especially that twist at the end 😅. I guess this is what it feels like for many marriage obsessed families, when someone goes against the tradition- ☠️ inside 😩
“Protect the soul in front of you” takes a whole new meaning after you watch it
She from the "the night manager"! I'm not going to miss this one ahh
Daisy Jones and the six
Was lighting used in this production?
She is such a great actor
I love when movies and shows are so dark that you can hardly see what's happening. It adds a fun little challenge.
the wedding shots are so obviously inspired by Lars Von Trier’s ‘melancholia’ !!! i’m so sat omfg
YESSSS
so obviously? not really.
Huh? The lighting, the grading, the camera movements, the compositions are all entirely different.
@autofocus4556they are the creator is screening a bunch of films that inspired this and melancholia is one
She looks like Dua Lipa 😮😮😮
Only prettier... Anyways, she is very good actress too, who knew?!
It's her sister.
Maybe she’s Albanian too
Are you sure??@admiralboom481
I am talking shite there is no relation here 😅
Should of titled it something Bad is going to Happen in The Dark 😂😂it's so dark I scared myself watching my own reflection on the screen 😅😂
Cinematographer : So, how dark do you want it to look?
Director : Yes.
Thank you for not giving anything away in the trailer. It's good to see yall are learning.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, No One Will Save You, Don't Look up, Leave the World Behind... yeah we get it, Hollywood. Thanks.
Don’t Move, Don’t Listen, Don’t Breathe
@Thatonehorrormoviefan im wheezing
😅
@spicy_ilitret_chicken4690 Does that count as breathing?
@skoosharama😂😂😂
actually sad that u cant have a movie nowadays thats even remotely similar to another movie without it being compared to. must suck being a director nowadays when so many ideas have been already done

Still depressing for a director
Every market has its own demand. Tune to demand and improve directorial skills. You'll find your path
That overhead shot at the end.......fantastic 👍👍
The twist is nothing really bad happens at all. They get married and then ends like a romcom.
The only very bad thing that is going to happen is people wasting their time watching this.
I absolutely love Camila Morrone I wish she was in everything
Our argentine star 🇦🇷
glad this type of love never found me! My husband and his family are completely normal! Looks like a great thriller for sure!
It’s a horror perceptive on this situation
How long you’ve been married? ))
Just when you think you’ve figured out how it’ll end, it proves you wrong. Completely unexpected. 👏
The lights come on?😂
Shooting in low light with a high speed lens is dope.. many of you won't understand cinematography and how natural light or ambience can be manipulated to create cinematic images.
You tell 'em. They also don't understand all the actual lighting that goes into making this look the way it is.
My wedding is in 2 months. I'm stressed out planning it. I'm going to watch this tonight.
something bad did happen... i watched it
Lol 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great thanks u saved me a lot of time
@Jack.whateverrrrit's true the show was trash
Friendly reminder, bring a TORCH when watching this!!!
The music in the end gives me chills!!!!😬😬😬😬😬😬😬
Nobody:
Netflix: Nights, Camera , ACTION!!!
Cast looks good & good creatives on this
With this girl I have a Dua Lipa vibe. Is it just me ?? Someone else??
No she's look like her and that's scary😮😮
Always good to see Ted Levine in a role.
He's a truly genuine person on set, as well. Not a Hollywood snob. Salt of the earth.
This should be called "something bad is going to happen to the lights".
very recommended i didnt expect much but actually got me the first episodes where you dont know what is going to happen, waiting a season 2
She looks like dua lipa and hailey bieber mixed together
Anyone else think she looks like a mix of Dua Lipa and Sandra Bullock, or is it just me? 🤔🫣
Absolutely agreed with your vision ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes
What I gathered from this trailer is that something very bad is probably going to happen in this movie. Not sure what but definitely something
It is the show itself.😂😂
Just because it's a dark themed show doesn't mean the grading needs to be LITERALLY awfully dark :'(
Netflix saw that Ready or not 2 was coming and thought, "I take that"
Calling it now: it’s a cult
The comment/review you looking for:
If you looking for an airy, unique but oddly filmed 'horror', about a family stuck in a cabin for 8 episodes building up to a wedding day...with some really no-sense plot, followed by a TON of wasted time and a bunch of blood in the last episode with a terrible ending, this is for you.

🎊 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love how were all looking for the “next” stranger things lmao
It’s giving “ ready or not “ vibes .
I had so much hope while on the first episode, it was gooodddd, then… meh😬 not great..
I just watched the whole thing i didnt think it was too dark for a second.. the trailer is but the movie has perfect lightning.
Impressive didn't have great expectations (wondered how they could drag it out to 8 eps and hold my interest) but it more than held my interest, great cast, story telling, very unique style..
a wedding where everyone's dressed as if it's a funeral. Way to set the mood for a horror/thriller :)
I thought you all are just laughing and then I realized my screen IS on full brightness. Now I’m imagining editors of this show very quickly redoing the whole show so we can actually see it
Sheesh. Had to turn my brightness all the way up to see what was happening in this trailer!
😂
