I hate automatic transmission leaks .. when my stock transmission a 47rh finally gave up and left me on the side of the road . I was done . G56 conversion. I did talk to Josh about building a decent transmission.. I finally just went with a G56 conversion.. i think that loosing a cooling line and looing oil pressure is hard on the transmission.

The reason it kept blowing transmission lines is because the heat exchanger was plugged. Took a long time to figure that out. G56 would be rad

The transmission dipstick boot only fits a 48re dipstick tube. The tubes are interchangeable though. Probably 120$ for the tube, dipstick and boot from Chrysler. I did my 47rh, never leaked again.

Ahhh great thanks man. Ya i have tried it twice with horrible results. Thanks!

Congrats on your build. I’m also from Canada and built my first 47re 5+ years ago. Building a 48re now as I’ve upgraded to a 3rd Gen. Did you wire a resistor into the pcm circuit to not throw codes with the higher line pressure? That gave me issues with shifting and 2nd gear starts. Sucks that you’ve had so much bad luck.

Thanks man! No I’ve only heard of that very recently. I might have to give it a try.

Stocky Baldman the resistor came with the Georend kit I used. I’m not sure if it applies to all 47re trucks. Mine was a 98, maybe the PCMs are different, I’m not sure

My 98 12valve blew a transmission line off (the little lock wire clip was missing ) I lost 7 liters and had to use my brothers deck over float to haul it home ... LOL .. I also had to replace the throttle position sensor because OD and lockup were going in and out .. LOL

What questions did you have for powerdriven? What was missing from the manual?

    • @StockyBaldman
      @StockyBaldman  3 года назад

I wouldn’t necessarily say there was info missing from the manual, I had a hard time getting a snap ring in, I’m pretty sure it was from the overdrive unit where you have to compress the spring. Called them confirm that I had put it back together properly and then I just had to be a bit more forceful. Stuff like that, I was trying to be very cautious

Put a I think it’s called a bell crank bushing
It goes on the linkage on your p pump PDD has them. I put on mine and made throttle response much better. It helps with shifting on autos.

Man you are bang on the money. I just looked into them, totally what I need. Thanks man!

    Nice man!
I’ve got the PDD compound kit on the way and have been looking at there trans parts. Would love to see you take it to the race track some time!
Get the boot for your dipstick tube and -8an Teflon braided lines off eBay and you’ll be leak free forever

I replaced all of my fittings with AN style fittings and push-lock hose. Never leaked again.

What tires/wheels are you running on your rig? Assuming the thumbnail is the truck.

If I were you I would put a new valve body harness and a new governor pressure sensor and transducer and make sure you get the upgraded governor pressure sensor and do ur pig tail. Another thing get rid of ur throttle position sensor they make a delete for it. Also replace ur brake light switch that cause issues with trans for lockup. I did all these things to my 96 probably 5 years ago never had a issues since.
I have a lockup switch in my 96 pull the relay put jumper in you have to than tap into the wire at pcm but do not cut this wire make sure ur close to the pcm run wire to switch than a wire from switch to ground. I know the 96 is a different color wire from the 97-98 I think.

Great video Ben! Your new intro is really cool!
Curious, did you replace the wiring harness in your transmission when you overhauled it? They are susceptible to ATF intrusion. And the symptoms can be intermittent, as you described yours to be. They are known to cause strange symptoms. You can check the connector for atf. That's a sure sign. Take air and blow the back of the connector of clean. There's supposed to be an insulating film around the wires going into the back of the connector. If it's gone or compromised then you know you have intrusion.

Thanks man! Ya you are spot on, pulled the connector and there was ATF all over it. I have the new harness but did not replace yet, hopefully that helps resolve my issues!

This is why I decided to build a 47rh for my 01 truck.

I have the same transmission jack as you just put a duel disk in my truck nv5600 very heavy fell off the jack. Got oil everywhere. Went to China Freight and bought the heavy duty transmission jack your talking about worked great I’ll never do a transmission with out it.
All this about 2 weeks ago.
