Excellent job, the 68 to 70 GTO bumpers are to me the hardest bumper to align that ever came out of Detroit , the bumper to fender alignment and the hood alignment has got to be dead on, that was the pinnacle feature on those years of the GTO, it’s supposed to look like one whole piece 0 gaps. l cringe when l go to car shows and l see the GTO’s with bumpers that aren’t aligned, once again Excellent Job.......
Hi, I watch your Video and I must say your expertise and patience is incredible ! I have a 69 GTO with the same problem and Everyone that I talk to about they are Clueless and want me to replace the Bumper . Watching you work is amazing and finding someone like you to do this type of work is Non Existent [In My Area ] . Thank You for your watching a Craftsman at work !
When you sand this, do you move up in sand paper (280, 600, 1,000 etc) to make it smoother or do you just stop at a certain point before applying primer?
Lol at 23:00 im the idiot that was leaning into my engine compartment and pushed too hard on my 1970. While looking for a way to change headlight bulbs.
So it's been 5 years since you've done the repair, have you heard how the bumper held up with the repairs u did? Was it a success? Curious doing a bumper my self and want to know if this worked out for u guys. Please let me know thanks
no, not this one. This is just a prime once deal. We're actually painting the jambs with the doors on, if that explains a little about the quality on this one. They can't all be show winners.
flexible bumper filler. If I had to do it again I'd put bumper plastic repair across the whole thing and less flexible filler but the job isn't to restore the bumper and take too much time on it, as it's not my shop to make that call.
YOU '"""DON'T """"BOLT THE BUMPER TO THE FENDER HAHAHA Those brackets inside edges of the bumperare for hideaway headlight brackets to bolt to...not what you guys did. Also where did those headlight buckets come from ? Lemans sure not a GTO.
Thanks Henry for another concise treatise on this difficult repair.

Bumper was from a 68 not 69 as stated, 69 had no holes for the emblem

I need some to do a video on 1973 laguna front bumper
What kind of filler is used on this bumper. I have one that needs repair . Do I use that flexible polyester putty?
I bought one of these GTOs new in 68 and the paint never matched the car on any of them. I still have it.
Sweet, another great vid, keep them coming please!
What was the yellowish stuff you used on the whole thing before sanding? Is that the flexible polyester putty?

How do you make the endura bumper flush? The one I'm looking at has a gap
nice work
Ready to put my 69 bumper back on. any tips? hideaway headlights installed 1st?
Great vid Henry!
so was that just regular bondo or plastic filler you used on that bumper
cool!
No. They never hit it with a sledgehammer. They hit it with a baseball bat and a crowbar.
How long did this job take you?
Sacramento on Roseville Road. Just look up Gearhead Garage/Sacramento.
Very nice
Good vid
where are you located? I have '64 impala I need worked on
so are you gonna give it the sledge hammer test when it's done to be sure it's at pre collision condition? It would make a cool video too .. stay up
no, a flexible poly glaze. Still wasn't flexible enough for the very top of the bumper in my opinion.

I didnt think that was correct either
yeah, I'd love to place it on the top of some steep hill in neutral and smack it with a sledgehammer til it rolls down the hill.
