I’m almost 29 and back in my teens to when I 24-25 I cut ties with all my friends. Something inside of me changed one night, anyway me and this one friend absolutely loved 311. Went to about 6 concerts together, got plastered on nights we weren’t working following day listening to 311 and having fun. I’m a different person now but something about this song just brings back all these old feelings. I’ll also add that this album is the one we never listened to because I had cut ties and it’s weird this particular song gets me.

The drums in this song are absolutely brilliant. A lot of times, bands have one dimensional drums to keep time. But the drummer in this song carries it and makes the instrument part of the story being told instead of just being a metronome. The way he melds them with the vocals and how he transitions the song into its different parts - just perfection. This song would not be what it is without the drummer’s talents. Can’t get over how good they sound.
Anyone who likes drum beats in songs will love 311's songs.. I think that why i gravitated towards them back when i first started listening to them in the 1990s..they have a very distinctive drum sound..
Chad Sexton is one of the best drummers in the world, for real.

Damn thank you 311 for helping me keep my sanity, haven't shed a tear to a 311 song since Uplifter but this hit me right in the feels. What an amazingly perfect song, a masterpiece ❤❤❤

Tim's solo is incredible. Killer tone; tasteful and terrific.
I may be wrong but I think that was Nick playing the solo. If you listen to his work on his side project album with the Nick Hexum Quintet his lead guitar work sounds almost exactly like the solo in this song
@@adamk9700 Sounds like higher gain pickups into a high gain amp with added fuzz--like Tim's rig. Nick typically uses lower gain pickups and amps with straight overdrive. They're both super-talented though, and have both emulated that melodic, Jerry Garcia style lead over the years. Either way, great solo!

No mistaking Tim’s phrasing. He is a creature of habit and has a very particular set of tricks he uses. This one employs a few of em. Semitone runs are a big one

The first song I heard was don't tread on me and then I started to listen to the older stuff like the Grassroots album and Music album and this self-titled and even that Transistor one and those were so awesome like I think those were like the best ones. I don't know I'm just so glad that I heard about 311

I’ve been a 311 fan ever since I was a baby hell I listened it when I was in the womb and I got to say this song right here is one of my all-time favorites I compare this to the likes of homebrew, it is such a good song and it’s so good to see this band evolving but still keeping their sound this is true 311 keep up the good work guys!
