I don't see those people voting for the person who overturned Roe, they'd rather let the people behind Biden run things

All planned. This is why democrats wanted the debate to happen now and not September. Their plan was always to replace him, they just needed to show it.
I'm not so sure they planned this as much as so many being in denial. It's not going to be that easy to replace him unless he goes willingly. He's stubborn and has a huge ego, as does his wife. His campaign donations cannot carry on to whoever they replace him with, unless it is Kamala. Unless the source of that is wrong, that's going to create a lot of problems for switching to somebody better, honestly. We'll see how this goes, I'm far from convinced they will replace him easily.
I think that they have a bunch of back up plans, and ideally the hoped Biden would do much better. Now they are trying to implement a backup plan.
