Good lesson on a great classic CCR song. I appreciate the comment at the end where you say to do your own thing in improvising and putting your own twist on each song. That is often my own approach.
"One of those guitar parts that flies under the radar," so true! Fogerty is famous for those great guitar lines that often go overlooked! Well said my friend and a great video!
incredible lesson-you do a great job of incorporating how leads fit into the chord shapes. Please add more lessons! Truly one of the great teachers of common sense guitar!
Wonderful teaching job brother. I've been working on catching on to the CAGED system for quite a while, it is quite a mind game, and this lesson is helping me break through some today. I plan to work on it for hours today, as I am now discovering how to apply the system. You did a fine job laying it out before me, thanks so much.
I just watched your 3 min version and recalled that you had done this great lesson here many moons ago. The theory went way over my head back then, but now I get it, Thank you so much for being such a fantastic player and explainer. Another nice C to F and back to C tune is Casey Jones by The Grateful Dead, they play that on all over the neck, food for thought. Merci mon ami.
Really like your instruction! Your a great teacher. Very concise and clear. Thanks for all your hard work explaining how to play these great songs! I'll be back for sure!
Great job explaining the different chord shapes and nuances JF uses to make this song so great. But it would be so much more helpful if you ran through the song once, either at the beginning or the end of the lesson. Thanks!
Good going Hoodrio...just got back into guitar and CCR was one of my favorite groups. I pretty much played this from the recorded version (Bb). Nice Tele'.....I got an American Tele' (1985) and just picked up a Princeton Reverb amp...got a re-issue as they want an "arm 'n a leg" for the originals. I do all my electronic work too (ex ET). Keep 'em coming !
Many Thanks !!! I love CCR !!! I'm from Brazil !!! In Here Brazil my nickname is "CREEDENCE" and My Dream is see a show the CCR !!! I have 37 yers of age ... I no have a eletric guitar ! Is a other dream ... black Les Paul ...
Hoodrio: Could I ask you, please, to provide some details on that "tv yellow" Telecaster? It looks very new. Did you combine a body and neck to "make" the guitar, or do you acquire it "as is"? Any details you could provide would be much appreciated! Thanks! Jim Hargett
Hi Jim, yes - I put it together from an American fender neck and a body from USA custom guitars. The finish is supposed to be what fender calls vintage white, which is basically a yellowed aged Olympic white. The light relic finish was done by Marc at Burtone Guitars in Portland, Oregon.
Loved it. C is a better key for this song. By the way, if you listen to the song there is definitely a slide in the motif between the A shape C and the second F shape C and back. If you play only the second and third strings it is basically sliding in and out of the blues box (2 position pent am) that Fogerty and others love to do. Cheers.
hi mate,,,thanx for your work,,i just watched a video of him "unplugged" and he was using those shapes but sounded like Bflat,,,tuning down still? i used your shapes and dropped the guitar down to d ,,worked a charm,,,ha ,,,,finally !
sounds much better if you play where the money frets are! Chet Akins said never made any past the 5th... the intro an most of these simple solos also.. Making a simple song change kills it. I grew up with ccr beatles stones you. know simple makes it easy. Don't stop you are helping people. I always check Marty Schwartz. He has 400,000 students he teaches slowly. Good tips even for guys like. me that started in 1964......Peace P.S. Keith Richards has always been sloppy thank God forMick Taylor an Ronnie Wood.

Hoodrio:
Many thanks for the information. I am going to try to duplicate what you have done to create that beautiful guitar! Thanks again! jim
Thank you for posting great lesson
Great Lesson and Tone! Thanks for the gear info. Can you review your Champ?
whoa great lesson! thanks! i just heard this song again and thought I have to learn it- has a certain something...not sure what...
what's the rhythm chord progression behind this lead ?
This is awesome... thanks.
The lead is a chord progression, so the rhythm part behind it is the same.
Great lesson!
Excellent lesson, tks!
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP ,,,,,
hey hoodrio, could you maybe do a lesson on green river?
I'll consider it. There's one fairly decent one by Bruce Lundquist here on YT you could check out. Thanks.
SUPER!!!
GREAT!!!
where are the chords switching to the tone up???
Just move them all up one whole step (2 frets).
sounds much better if you play where the money frets are! Chet Akins said never made any past the 5th...

very helpful, thanks!
like the lesson.
And John Fogerty played this on a Rickenbacker 325 short arm.
nice job
great lesson. You sound like Don Felder from the Eagles...
thanks for this
nice tele by the way.
thanks --
It started off as a guitar lesson with Bill Paxton then morphed into Jim Campilongo…..who’d have known. 😜
great tutorial, just please don't over complicate things
4mins in im still waiting on the riffs
I feel the talk, in the beginning, is educational for some, me at least. We learn in many ways, talk, then show. Thank you Hoodrio..
have you done a lesson for CCR's version of Ooby Dooby??
No, but there's a great version here on YT by a user named kdc300z where you can see what he's doing. Great tone as well.
thanks
Big Thanks ! great lesson
