The tiny details are so amazing on the skull. Lovely technique with the chalk to add dimension and depth to the work. Beautiful work, Dave. Gopro sounds interesting. Looking forward to watch the difference. 🥰❤

thanks for this video. I'm doing a charcoal still life atm with several differen't bones withs tons of texture and I was struggling to figure out how to do all of those textures without turning it into a smudged mess. I never thought about adapting my eraser.
Awesome, there are loads of little tricks but its mainly down to trial and error :) Will make another similar video again at some stage :) Best of luck on with your study ✌️
I find the quality obtained impressive, and with few tools. I only find one problem, it would have been nice to put a Cannibal Corpse song for this drawing. GREAT JOB DAVE!!!!!!
Yes you do, I'll make another video soon on how I get it solid black. You need Compressed charcoal and blend it out. Also derwent XL black is very good ✌️

Hi Rose, I just use some fixative towards the end to bond the charcoal / stop it from smudging etc :)

All the techniques are shown. High contrast, backs first, shading out, highlights. Was pretty happy with the how to :(
