Moldboard plow (WITH NO TURNOVERS) in the fall and you won't have to deal with the mess! No trash, heats the ground up, no need for $400k planter with downforce, no slug worries, get planting earlier, get rid of combine compaction tracks, pushing corn cobs with soybean header, bigger yields..but heaven forbid, you might have to miss a week in the coffee shop to accomplish this.

Cut up the plow, plant cereal rye cover to boost soil biology, run kill cows out there - break down stalks and boost soil biology, spend time with family, sell kill cows, plant when soils are fit in spring, burn down including a few gallons of 28% per acre, forget slugs.

@@justthings6405 guess i've been doing it wrong for a long time then. only plows here - 1 was grandpa's and 2 came with the first tractor to ever be used on the farm - museum pieces - like every other plow should be.

@@NoTill1825 It all depends on your land situation--heavy land or light land requires different tillage practices..

Plant down the exact same row. I use an old 7000 jd with no row cleaners and light duty down pressure springs. The beans just need to be under the surface.

@rosco5286 got some guys running 15" rows straddling the stalks after a chopping corn head. Those beans look good also.

I know you guys never answer comments, but how much longer do you have to wait for a 5 ton residue to dry out enough. If you're putting down your row cleaners, often you're exposing wet soil to the guage wheels and mud will form. So you really need that soil surface under the residue to be pretty dry. 10 days? 15 days?
