As someone with a broader forefoot, I applaud their move to a more generous toe box. Adios Pro 3 fits me better than their older super shoes and it appears to be the last they’re using elsewhere in the line as well.
Have done a few runs in the Boston 12 and worn them casually. Did 12k on the weekend and felt that they were really up there with the speed 3. This is definitely imo the best daily. Only slight negative is that it takes a bit of work getting them on due to the floppy tongue.

Did you hear at the Darlington 10k they used seaweed drink pods that are biodegradable? Alternative to plastic but the locals were not happy as they were unsightly!
They had them at the Gothenburg Half Marathon in May. The issue was they were pods of athletic drink, so there was no opening or spout, you put them in your mouth and bit. Ran in this and can connfirm it's rather more of a firmer ride as of now. But mine's just out of box and I may have to report back after breaking it in. But so far I like it. It's got just a tiny bit tuned down bounce and slight more firmness compared to my ES3, but not a balance that I hate at all. Plus that's me being probably a forefoot striker or mid foot striker which mainly activiate the more bouncy firmer foam than the softer foam beneth. It does feel very nimble and very nice for cruising arounnd. It's a nice daily workhorse. I got it for a real nice discount for 120 so absolutely no complaint at that.
I don’t know what to get. I have been running in Topos for two years. But my running ability has for whatever reason increased exponentially. My strides are much faster now, resulting in raging calves. I cannot NOT run fast - it’s too amazing. But my calves are dying. I plan on getting one of these more cushioned trainers with a drop, but am unsure what to do. Do these shoes slow you down? Will the calf pain alleviate by doing strides and tempos in those pace ranges between 3:00-1:00 min/km? I kind of rationally think these Bostons are the way to go but those yellow/pink Pumas are the hottest shoes I have seen in that selection.
This shoe is definitely firm out of the box. After 20-30 miles it feels great. As a wide footer that cant find a “super shoe” that fits, I will likely run my next few races in these. They handle the faster paces nicely.
Yes. Unfortunately it is my wide midfoot that causes me trouble. Many of the wide toebox shoes feel great in the toebox, but taper down the width too much in the midfoot. Wide sizing is a must for me. The wide Boston 12 is just barely wide enough, I have to lace it somewhat loose.@@AG_UofT

I got a pair on Saturday, went for a short run, but wasn't prepared (at all) for how rigid/firm/harsh/unnatural they felt! They definitely grip great on wet roads, and I can tell it has some speed, but the shoe nearly took me out! I had a sore hamstring/glute, even my back, and my knee is still swollen. Maybe my Garmin is giving me incorrect readings, though I doubt it, I can still fairly easily talk while running this pace. Thinking I should get a HRM and do the lactate test and train according to that instead.
Hey Edd! Nice rewiew. Just yesterday I finished my 3 months Polar program to bounce back from knee injury. I did a 5k race with my B12 and I just forgot it was there in my feel. It was so nice. I'm heavy so my 5k speed won't be like many light runners can run, but I'll tell you: I felt no dampening squishiness at high speed, as I felt with my old Ultraboost 19 when trying to pick up the pace @ intervals. It performed very well. And I really enjoyed the midfoot lacing thingies. May look odd but that underlayered cage with hard lacing loops just ensured no lace slipping during the run. So I think it's a winner even if not fancy. It just works. At some point I'll do a 5k race with my old B11 (50g heavier then B12) to sample the stiffer energyrods. Maybe a little more pop-off at the end of the stride? 🤔 Cheers! 🇧🇷💪🏃🏽♂️
Edd have you recently run at some old flat racing Boston 9 or earlier? I have B9 and Adios 5 and they seem so punishing to my knees now... I'm curious about other runners perceptions over those beloved pre high stack racing shoes....
@@recguerra3 yes I liked the 9. The 10 felt like rock. Mind you I like a solid shoe from time to time. Sometimes after wearing the soft running shoes I like a nice jordan retro for recovery. They are solid compared to these days!
I see you have a Fuji Speed 2 in the background. I just ordered a pair yesterday as they are already heavily discounted over here. I'm curious about your review soon.
For all you Boston 12 fans - a Berlin Marathon edition has just been released. Grey and Turquoise with a lovely leafy foliage graphic on the heel stripe!
having both, the deviate is much slower than the boston 12. if i was puma i would strip back the upper and add more nitro elite to the forefoot for version 3.
Looking to pick up a new shoe for my first half marathon none other than GNR next month - very tempted by the boston 12 or something like deviate nitro elite
Just watched that earlier! 👍👍 I think I may watch too many videos for a very indecisive person haha. Maybe I need to just go and try a few different options on
I actually like the Boston 11’s but they’re definitely on the firmer side. These once they go on sale will be a must buy (although I don’t think I’ll find them for quite as cheap as the 11’s were - $48!)
Still not sure about these, my house is overflowing with running shoes and I've just bought the Prime X Strung so will hold off for now, maybe have a go when they drop below £100
I personally enjoyed the Boston 11 exactly you have to grind the beans to get a good cup mate...but now with 125 in my Boston 11 feels like my Boston 12 I think we need a v.s.
SuperBlast is unisex so did not lock down as well for me as a female with medium width feet that if anything are on the narrower side. The NovaBlast lock down perfectly. That’s the thing about some unisex shoes….😢Interestingly, I also have the Edge+ as a race shoe and have excellent fit in those. I guess the SuperBlast are so bulky and that’s the issue.
Really considering these shoes.I run on wet roads A LOT and seem like this would be a good long run shoe for shite weather with some goal pace tossed in. Can you compare width to something like the Superblast? Just wondering if I should get the wide here.
Have been rotating the invincible 3 and the vaporfly 3 and enjoyed. I am developing shin splints and thinking of swapping to these as my daily trainer. Thought a firmer ride might be better for strength..any thoughts?
I am new to running and I love this shoe, I started running in February, what other shoes should I pair it with? I’m gonna train for a half marathon in 4 months
the adios Pro 3 is really cheap in the sale, would you recommend going for the Pro 3 as a daily trainer? Or play it safe and go with the B12 as a daily trainer? dont mind the money if the shoe suits!
Question - did you find the size comparable to the Prime X Strung (not the v2), or was the Strung a little bigger than the Boston 12? Thank you. I ended up getting a blister after an 18 mile run in the Strung, but felt great otherwise.
Edd Budd my midsole man 🤙🏽 I’m not after versatile I’m after a long run tempo marathon training shoe. Speed 3? Boston 12 or big boy Superblast? What say you?
ADIDAS BOSTON 12 IS TRAINER OF YR 💯 AGREED THEY LISTENED THEY CORRECTED AND ITS GOOD..WHO ELSE HAS DONE THAT WITH A SHOE THIS YR EXACTLY NO ONE...ADIDAS IS WINNER HANDS DOWN..
Agree. I replaced my Endo Speeds with the NovaBlast 3, however. It’s the first iteration that’s worked for me and I’m loving it. I tried on the Boston 12 the other day and it’s an excellent shoe but I think I prefer the NovaBlast 3 so will stick with it.
Fair enough, im just hinting to all those trail shoes you said nay to, because you couldn't do them justice. Where im at there are 1000meter vertical trails wherever you turn your head 😅 just got the endorphin rift, you might like it. I think they should make a non plated powrrun pb road shoe too..
@@Eirikkinserdal I have varied terrain on my daily route. Some Normal shoes are unworkable in wet weather. This will cover that and is light and plated.
Hello Ed, I bought my Boston 12 today, it will arrive on Monday I think, I ordered it 12 based on size 12 in adios pro 3 and 12 in adizero sl I hope it's not too big, if it fits large it will be thick socks and if it fits small it will be thin stockings hahahaha
They DO run long. I went into a store and had to downsize from my W9 to 8.5. Made a huge difference. I didn’t take them home with me because I decided I still prefer the NovaBlast3 I’ve been using for long runs and misc. other types of runs. But the Boston 12 is a solid, excellent shoe with undoubtedly the best outsole (continental rubber). These are unusually generous in the toebox so I’m recommending sizing down .5 in this model.
I tried the Boston 12 in store and I found that the lateral side of the heel was not level with the medial side (lateral side was not touching the ground), making it I guess not very stable at the heel.. Is it safe for a heel striker? All my shoes have significant wear on those lateral heel sides.. thanks
I ran in it around the store long enough to find it quite stable for a neutral runner like myself. Did you go down 1/2 size as I had to in this model? It’s not as narrow in the toebox as adidas shoes tend to be, so between that and running kind of long I’m suggesting people size down.
@@Martha-fluterunner thanks for the feedback.. i tried it true to size and I found it just fine, but i did not run in them so i don't know if it would be risky for heel striker like my self
I agree with EDDBUD that the heel is like that for a smooth transition. I think I noticed that on the other adidas shoes I’ve had (eg., the Boston 8 and 9’s). Nearly all runners touch down on the lateral rear part of the foot and pronate or roll in (in a natural way) onto their main footstrike portion of the foot from there-whether it’s the heel, midfoot of forefoot. Only sprinters run entirely on their forefeet which is why it’s so ridiculous when I see regular runners on their tiptoes. (This is neither natural nor advisable) And this is why there is always a patch of outsole in that area and why most peoples’s shoes show wear there first.
I am thinking about trying these or the 11s because their light wieght and deals on price. I have only ever run in adidas ultraboost 21/22 and ultraboost dna 4.0 and 5.0. How do you think they would compare for me? I run at least 4 road miles ever day, for general fitness purposes. Thank you.
do these have any chance of the form collapsing inwards (medial) under weight (overpronator trying to find the right shoe!) - coming from Deviate NITRO 2 causing me ankle/medial calf pains!
Congrats on the subs Edd🎉.. have you tried Shyu socks? Up there with the best and love the fact that they have race socks that colour match certain top race shoes 😎
These things feel like bricks to me. I haven't broken them in fully yet, but just breaking them in has already given me shin splints after doing a 10k.
How do you keep your heart rate so low (147) at such a high pace? My pace is slower but my heart rate goes above 165+ perhaps I'm not too fit. Should I be concerned about high heart rate tho?
That would be very helpful. My goal marathon pace is around 8:30-8:40 and I don't really want the outlay for a pair of race day 'super shoes' so I'm looking for something to train and race in, I've already got the Deviate nitro 2 and was tempted to get the Boston 12's but don't know if they are too similar.
I've ran in the deviate nitro 2 and I think the boston 12 is stiffer. I guess If I bought the boston12, I might use it for races? I wanna know if the continental rubber is durable like the puma grip
Adidas def redeemed themselves by getting the stench from the 10/11 off the 12. Feels like a completely different shoe. I owned the Boston 6-10(skipped the 11),best iteration so far !
Just ran the Abu Dhabi marathon in these. Nearly took me under the magic 3 hour mark save for cramp. Great shoe

Cheers! 🇧🇷💪🏃🏽♂️
Glad the Boston is working out for you 👍🏼
Edd have you recently run at some old flat racing Boston 9 or earlier? I have B9 and Adios 5 and they seem so punishing to my knees now... I'm curious about other runners perceptions over those beloved pre high stack racing shoes....
@@recguerra3 yes I liked the 9. The 10 felt like rock. Mind you I like a solid shoe from time to time. Sometimes after wearing the soft running shoes I like a nice jordan retro for recovery. They are solid compared to these days!
I'm actually wearing my wh/pink Adi Boston 6 watching this!
Some classics right there
I see you have a Fuji Speed 2 in the background. I just ordered a pair yesterday as they are already heavily discounted over here.
I'm curious about your review soon.
Odd they are discounted. They feel great! Could be a good carbon winter shoe.
Thanks always learn a lot from your videos, is it possible that you could do a review for adidas switch fwd released recently?
Possibly! it looks very very heavy in my size
For all you Boston 12 fans - a Berlin Marathon edition has just been released. Grey and Turquoise with a lovely leafy foliage graphic on the heel stripe!
😍
having both, the deviate is much slower than the boston 12. if i was puma i would strip back the upper and add more nitro elite to the forefoot for version 3.
From what I recall from seeing it I think them may have done so
I love this shoe!!!!!!!
Me too. Glad I picked it up
Looking to pick up a new shoe for my first half marathon none other than GNR next month - very tempted by the boston 12 or something like deviate nitro elite
Check my Boston 12 video today
Just watched that earlier! 👍👍
I think I may watch too many videos for a very indecisive person haha.
Maybe I need to just go and try a few different options on
Tried them in store and they felt amazing! I will wait for a discout and will get a pair :)
I actually like the Boston 11’s but they’re definitely on the firmer side. These once they go on sale will be a must buy (although I don’t think I’ll find them for quite as cheap as the 11’s were - $48!)
@@kalvin. I think we will see them at around 80-90 at the end of the season
Still not sure about these, my house is overflowing with running shoes and I've just bought the Prime X Strung so will hold off for now, maybe have a go when they drop below £100
Yeah no need if you have the king of running shoes!
I personally enjoyed the Boston 11 exactly you have to grind the beans to get a good cup mate...but now with 125 in my Boston 11 feels like my Boston 12 I think we need a v.s.
All the adidas shoes in fairness get better over time.
"Grind up the coffee yourself".. ☕ I love this guy! I end up watching his reviews just because they are entertaining.
I try and make it interesting even if you don’t like shoes. 👊👍🏼
Could you please compare it with the Superblast? And if you had to choose one which one would it be?
A comparison video coming up tomorrow
Fujispeed 2 in the background 👀👀
It’s darn good! Can’t wait to get out in these on road and trail. Could be a good winter plated shoe
Hi Edd, I usually look to your videos for sizing tips. The colourway you got seems to be the ‘wide’ version. Is it? It seems to fit you fine?
There’s 2 versions of this colourway. This is the standard one.
I just got the standard version but went down half a size as I felt some heel slippage in my regular size. The toe box is really roomy. Thanks, Edd!
Hey Ed, any thoughts on Boston 12 compared to Asics Superblast?
Boston 12 faster, superblast more comfy
SuperBlast is unisex so did not lock down as well for me as a female with medium width feet that if anything are on the narrower side. The NovaBlast lock down perfectly. That’s the thing about some unisex shoes….😢Interestingly, I also have the Edge+ as a race shoe and have excellent fit in those. I guess the SuperBlast are so bulky and that’s the issue.
It’s quite a wide shoe isn’t it? Hope they offer some gender specific or at least other width versions in the future
Loving mine 🎉
They hit the spot and get better with mile
Really considering these shoes.I run on wet roads A LOT and seem like this would be a good long run shoe for shite weather with some goal pace tossed in. Can you compare width to something like the Superblast? Just wondering if I should get the wide here.
Superblast is lighter and less firm. Though the upper isn’t as refined on the Asics shoe. Bit baggy. Compared to the fitting adidas.
@@EDDBUD So TTS overall?
@@elliotendures yes I believe them to be true to size
Have been rotating the invincible 3 and the vaporfly 3 and enjoyed. I am developing shin splints and thinking of swapping to these as my daily trainer. Thought a firmer ride might be better for strength..any thoughts?
I found using them a dream. Good all round option and nice smooth transition at pace
Would you recommend these or the Mach 5 as a daily trainer, especially for long runs?
Haven’t tried the Mach 5. But love the Boston
I am new to running and I love this shoe, I started running in February, what other shoes should I pair it with? I’m gonna train for a half marathon in 4 months
The Adios pro 3 is your model 👊
@@EDDBUD appreciate you!
And now I knw what that flappy thing is!
the adios Pro 3 is really cheap in the sale, would you recommend going for the Pro 3 as a daily trainer? Or play it safe and go with the B12 as a daily trainer? dont mind the money if the shoe suits!
It’s fine as a daily if you have a good neutral foot strike
For beginner daily training, which shoes do u reccomended between asics novablast 3 or boston 12?
Boston 12 is a great shoe but quite rigid. Grab the energy 5 or Puma velocity nitro 2.
How stable are these shoes? Compared to puma forever run or similar
Very stable. Puma is a bit more squashy underfoot. Upper a bit more present too in the Puma
Question - did you find the size comparable to the Prime X Strung (not the v2), or was the Strung a little bigger than the Boston 12? Thank you. I ended up getting a blister after an 18 mile run in the Strung, but felt great otherwise.
About the same for all 3 really.
Edd Budd my midsole man 🤙🏽 I’m not after versatile I’m after a long run tempo marathon training shoe. Speed 3? Boston 12 or big boy Superblast? What say you?
Superblast would be my pick!
ADIDAS BOSTON 12 IS TRAINER OF YR 💯 AGREED THEY LISTENED THEY CORRECTED AND ITS GOOD..WHO ELSE HAS DONE THAT WITH A SHOE THIS YR EXACTLY NO ONE...ADIDAS IS WINNER HANDS DOWN..
Agree 100%
Dankeschön! 😮😅😂 nice
🤣👍🏼
Hi! Is it good for runners with wide feet? Do I need to go one size up or half size up?
There’s a wide version of this shoe
Hello edd. Would you recommend bostons 12 for heel striker? Im also heavyer runner... thanks
Don’t see why not. Great shoe for anyone
Looking forward to hear good news from Mount 🗻 Hope there's good magic taken from the road runners 🏃♂️
Can’t wait to test those out
what better either boston 12 and asics novablast 3?
Personally the Boston has a bit more range of use. For example usable for daily stuff plus longer range training.
Need a replacement for my Speed 3’s. Are the Boston 12’s worth a try?
Yeah
Agree. I replaced my Endo Speeds with the NovaBlast 3, however. It’s the first iteration that’s worked for me and I’m loving it. I tried on the Boston 12 the other day and it’s an excellent shoe but I think I prefer the NovaBlast 3 so will stick with it.
Yes though very different shoe with less squash and more stability
Fujispeed 2. Wonder what you are going to use it for, they should have sent you the magicspeed 3 instead 😅
I have great trails here. I’m in the country. Plus it’s a shoe ideal for the mixed routes I have locally.
RUN TTS.
They run long
@@JoutarouKuujou1 maybe you have toddler feet.
Sock game always good to have to custom the fit 👍🏼
I think that heel thing is intentional isn’t it? Makes the shoe super smooth on transition
How is the durability? I've got the Adios Adizero 7 and the upper ripped quite fast... On both sides and both shoes.
Hadn’t seen that type of thing. It’s quite a light upper in fairness so maybe not compatible in the same way.
I had the same issue with the 7, they changed the upper material from the 6 - total fail. Sad, as it’s a great shoe otherwise
Are they the daily trainer equivalent of the takumi sen?
Not really. More rigid and heavier by some margin
Would these shoes with the rods not last as long as a pair without rods?
They seem pretty durable
I am thinking about trying these or the 11s because their light wieght and deals on price. I have only ever run in adidas ultraboost 21/22 and ultraboost dna 4.0 and 5.0. How do you think they would compare for me? I run at least 4 road miles ever day, for general fitness purposes. Thank you.
Love the versatility of the 12. One of the best shoes of the year.
@EDDBUD ok thank you.
Rock deflector enabled 😂
🤣👍🏼
do these have any chance of the form collapsing inwards (medial) under weight (overpronator trying to find the right shoe!) - coming from Deviate NITRO 2 causing me ankle/medial calf pains!
Bit firmer than the Puma. Might be fine
@@EDDBUD thanks - just trying to find a stable all purpose ('supershoe') that isn't necessarily designed as a 'stability' shoe - thoughts?
@@soul0merk The Boston could work. Maybe even the Superblast. It’s cushioned but quite responsive.
I had high hopes for this one, but they are just too narrow in the mid-foot for me.
Shame they don’t work. There is a wide version
Thanks. Yes, I saw that. I might give them a try.@@EDDBUD
Boston 12 or 1080v13 ? So hard to choose. Thanks
Haven’t worn the 1080 but love the Boston for almost anything
@@EDDBUD thanks Ed appreciate 😊
Just bought these, might be a daft question but should I be able to feel the rod under foot?
No you shouldn’t be able to feel it
Thanks, will send them back. Must be faulty@@EDDBUD
Its not the rods actually ahah, my foot is quite wide and hanging over the inside of the shoe a bit @@EDDBUD
do you recommend this shoes for ultra running like 100km?
Don’t see why not
@@EDDBUD thank you :)
Congrats on the subs Edd🎉.. have you tried Shyu socks? Up there with the best and love the fact that they have race socks that colour match certain top race shoes 😎
Will check them out
These things feel like bricks to me. I haven't broken them in fully yet, but just breaking them in has already given me shin splints after doing a 10k.
They break in over time.
Hi edd is this true to size
I found it true to size in my uk 11
@EDDBUD Thanks for the response. I would love to get a pair was not sure if it's true to size is this for half marathon
Boston 12 or triumph 21 ?
Boston for me.
I forgot to add, strictly for long runs to keep this hr low, I've got shoes for faster efforts
How do you keep your heart rate so low (147) at such a high pace? My pace is slower but my heart rate goes above 165+
perhaps I'm not too fit. Should I be concerned about high heart rate tho?
Mainly some consistent training and stress free life. As possible!
Is this better than the Deviate NITRO 2
Bit different in terms of the setup. The Puma is a bit more grippy. Might have to do a comparison video on this as I have received loads of questions!
So how many miles to break the Takumi in?
Maybe about the same really.
@@EDDBUD the same what? As you have on these?
Your usual size UK11?
Yes I am uk 11
So the only important question: what Gibson is it?
I have a few, the 355, sg and Les Paul
@@EDDBUD nice!
Can I do 56 km ultra marathon in them?
I don’t see why not. It’s a good middle of the road beast.
Bro this is good in half marathon?
Don’t see why not
Damn how to get to those heart rate
Consistent training and a stress free life. No ice cream or chocolate. 🤣👍🏼

Hi
Thanks for tuning in
Adidas def redeemed themselves by getting the stench from the 10/11 off the 12. Feels like a completely different shoe. I owned the Boston 6-10(skipped the 11),best iteration so far !
Yes really improved model for the year.
