@@snixxt248 Some dungeons require unique tactics to beat. Such as ample usage of attack, pull back, etc. commands. Especially when positioning is a thing.
I actually found early command missions IMPOSSIBLE as anything other then a healer, because the AI healer just did nothing, and constantly let me, or the AI tank die.
@@aliciafraser1835 I've leveled almost all of my DPS classes using squadrons and never had this problem. I see it mentioned a lot but I don't know why? I have my tank pull the whole room and AOE it down and the healer never has a problem, especially once I leveled her tactics up to 5.
@@shinythingsarecool Playing as the tank I've had a plethera of problems from units just standing in AOEs (Which I can probably fix by using the commands more as someone said) all the way to the healler just standing there or constantly attacking and not healing nearly enough to keep me alive. Thats the thing I cant seem to do anything about. I've been told if you level them up and send them through training they get smarter, but I've done that a bunch and still the healers as dumb as a bag of rocks.

You're taught for most of the game prior to running into the gather mechanic that big orange spots are bad and you shouldn't stand in them.... then all of a sudden here comes this even bigger flashier orange spot thats blaring an alarm at you. I'd run away from that too if I wasn't told what it was before having to deal with it.

A minute a day and you can have your squadrons just passively farming GC Seals, MGP, or raw Gil or Materia. And bonus points, you can do fun things with them like having them all be Lalafells. That you can glamour.

Def get it. Squadrons outclass potd except in teh range of 35 - 41 and past 55. I did a whole excel table calculating xp per hour and potd got ripped apart simply because your most potd runs are just not as quick for being as efefctive. And it was calculated for having no xp bonus at all. also its worth noting, that getting more than 4 squadrons will slow down the leveling process for them, since new recruits have the average level of the squad currently recruited. So just ignore til your squad got a Level above 50 and start recruiting then.
Officially joined the FFXIV family just last weekend, I'm at level 25 now on my marauder, and I definitely wasn't aware of this feature. It's crazy how much there is to this game so early on as I'm just getting started.
Big warning, the tank AI is uber stupid so proceed with care. Also its quite hard to mass pull, so the runs go faster than your average df, but slower than a good party. Still good for you dps classes to skip queues
The tank's not really stupid. You have to use the "pull back" command and have him swap to each target individually, then he'll have aggro and won't lose it. It takes me 7 - 10 minutes on average per dungeon, way faster than with any party. Their stats are insane.
shinythingsarecool I’m aware that you have to basically engage on every mob. My tank’s dps most of the time is more than the dps and yeah runs are around 10mins but he’s still stupid lol.
I leveled up three times on my first Command mission with an aetherite earring, brand new ring, FC buffs, etc. I'm never queuing in DF if I can help it!
Further tips for if you plan on doing Command Missions a lot for the emotes, exp, grand company levels. Get a Gladiator as your primary tank NPC. They cheat SUPER HARD. They have access to all defensive cooldowns for the Class no matter the level and can have 100% Uptime on them as well.
I'm a First Lieutenant and I completely forget about squadrons. I may as well become a Cpt. and also use the command missions more often. I've been levelling BLM since I got the Aetheryte Earrings and replaying levelling dungeons has been painful.
Very long time. I got all jobs, except White Mage, to level 61 just using Palace of the Dead. Then used Heaven on High to get my Dark Knight and Black Mage to 70. It took me a few months because I was inconsistent with my leveling. Going from level 1 to 70 should take less than a week with enough commitment.
i am new in game and found out about squadrons day before this video, Thanks a lot and i hope you will do more same updated videos about things new ppl don't know, there is so so much info in FF14 for new players and game teach kinda well but not all , and same times there is just to much info in game that is hard to understand all on go and you will not have second chance to learn it.

I just started playing on the ps4 with a controller and it's... REALLY different. I never knew your video's subject matter. For whatever reason I glossed over it before. When I found out about these a couple months ago I felt like I found cheat codes. Nobody really talks about squadrons, and they're much more fun than POTD when trying to learn a class at low level. Fantastic stuff.
They should make this more prominent when progressing through GC ranks. The dungeons and scrolls (only from here) are mostly very useful. For example, I've already started building up the exp scrolls for 5.0. It will save you a ton of time on the non-combat roles. Overall, this always seemed like what they were going to make the Trust system before the more recent announcements.

One thing you should point out is these squadrons cant be unlocked until your almost level 30. Also some of the mobs on the hunting log only spawn in dungeons. So your not entirely new by the time you bring the seals needed to unlock 2nd Lt in your grand company.
i actually passively worked this out while going through my grand company, i saw promotion and had to go for captain. only worked out it required squadron stuff while doing it. leveled all healers and tanks with CM's
can be aggressive since they can hit like trucks and are pretty hearty when it comes to being hit, mainly due to their simple jack level of intelligence, they were buffed to compensate. if you know the mechanics for dungeons and have decent placement for them. you can breeze through some of the dungeons fairly quickly. some of them can go faster than traditional four man parties.

I just started playing like three weeks ago, I started ranking up on grand companies because it sounded cool to me. Good to know it has many benefits outside feeling good for pulling rank (rp mindset). I just unlocked squadrons so thanks for the video.
Please do a "Basic Raid Mechanics" video...so often I will jump into raids and people will just assume everything is a stack mechanic, then get angry because people didn't stack or he/she wiped the entire raid...
do you have any suggestions as to which enlistees to recruit and keep? there are so many coming in and trying to train. thank you for the information. new player learning fast.
Hopefully in the future, as more resources become available, they can develop the squadrons to operate similarly to trusts. It would be a really good way of preventing players from experiencing long queue times in entering the old story and leveling dungeons.
Hey Haps, you should make a thorough Party Finder 101. Lots of new players don’t know how to use it or even know it exists, and it would be super helpful!
I’ve only done roulettes to level my secondary jobs. Praetorium and Castrum every day makes me shudder, but it’s better than PotD. I refuse to go into that place again. I never knew about this and sounds extremely helpful.
My bsm is level 36. I usually bought stuff in the market board like lumber and mythril ore. Should i start working on my miner? And the class that gets lumber?
botanist works with trees, so branches, lumber, bugs, fruits, etc. miner works with metals and stone, so any sort of salts, ore, and stone from them. if you look at your gathering log, as you level up, it shows you what you can gather and where it is located roughly. also, you can buy all you need for any crafting job at a nearby materials vendor in the guildhouse where the class is located. You can use all those materials to level any class to roughly Lv 20 and spend considerably less than the marketboard if you dont want to gather the materials yourself. can find other vendors around town (little pouch icons on your minimap) that can also sell low level crafting items that are useful like a fishmonger NPC that sells low level fish in a tower just south of the Aftcastle aethernode in Limsa Lominsa. great for some of the low level culinarian recipes. though I suggest getting miner and botanist leveled though, it can be immensely helpful if you want to make use of your crafting classes and will be cheaper since you can also sell the materials once you out level recipes, on the market board for some extra gil.

It all depends. As a tank or healer PotD and normal dungeon runs are usually on par (depends a lot on the other 3 people with you for both). Squadron npcs are very dumb but also very OP. I havent done any dungeons after engage spam was fixed but before that I could run stone vigil in 8 minutes. A normal group would take at least three times as long as stone vigil is one of the longest dungeons in the game. I cant tell you for certain but even after engage spam was fixed, squadron npcs should still be able to clear the dungeon in 15 minutes. So you are probably faster than with randoms. Add in the benefits of no queue times, no possibility of afk people or bad people or leavers etc.
if you're doing the same dungeon, technically the command mission will net you more because the mobs themselves have a hidden 60% exp boost (by hidden I mean that since it's applied on the mob, and not on you, you won't see it on the %. However the experience the monsters give is higher). Even though you can't do big pulls on a tank (as the healer AI will -not- keep up with big pulls), they kill things fast enough that it'll be about the same time as a decent group of people. And while the AI is pretty dumb, it's consistently dumb so you get used to it, whereas DF you can never predict what it'll be like.
I have found that the amount of time it takes to level the squad makes them uselss for command missions. With road to 60 you can get a job to 60 in one day easily so by the time your squad is even close to that you are done leveling.
I have barely spent time with my squadron. It's hard enough to find the time get through eureka, earn weekly tomes and coins. The jobs that I want to level are over 50. If they would do trusts like 11 then I'd be more on board.
Just tried my first dungeon with my squad. My tank got killed by the end boss and my healer did not raise him until after the boss was dead. I couldn’t use LB, presumably because the tank was dead.
Stupid question how do I use the squads? I just started and only went into the room twice and couldn't see how to send them out so I just left the area
I literally leveled all my jobs after the first job in the squadron, and oh boy “getting the amaro journey” was really easy with the squadron but it took me 2k hours and really drained me but it’s worth it.
In case you wonder - You cannot obtain this rank on a trial account. You will be locked 2 ranks below that since "Chief Storm Sergeant" (1 rank below Second Lieutenant) requires you to complete lvl 44 quest and trial level cap is 35.
You can go to 60 pretty comfortably without macros. I would reccomend looking up some controller configurations to help out. Try work to game they did a 3 part series the videos are only about 10 minutes each.
It's totally possible. The only Marco that I would say is needed is lucid dreaming to Celestial opposition. Extending the mp refresh is critical to using ast to it's fullest.
"Potentially" more exp than regular dungeon runs. You still get the same exp, and you'll never get a new player bonus unless you yourself are the new player. They can give more exp because it will now be up to you if you want to fully clear a dungeon. Aurum Vale is a great example of this, which is already exp rich for leveling players under 50, but a lot of PUGs won't allow Marbol fruits to spawn and don't clear all the rooms, which is throwing exp away.
@@ulibarriL you missed the actual reason is only potential as the mobs in there have higher base exp drop then if you went into the normal dungeon however doing big pulls with huge chain exp rewards isn't reliable with the npcs so you get more then a typical pug but not necessarily more then a solid group

I'm almost certain you'll be fine. Square comes across as a competent bunch of developers so it's more than likely they didn't do anything convoluted and needless for storing data on server hard drives. With that in mind, migrating data from one server to another will be easy. Referencing and using the data is a different matter that they have likely tweaked and tested to ensure complete functionality for when shadow bringer launches
Yes. When you get into Heavensward Dungeons, they pay for themselves through drops. Though until then, it costs seals to pay your squadron mates. Essentially, when you get to the point where you get seals easily and you get the rank of First Lieutenant or Captain, you are the one paying NPCs as opposed to NPCs giving you the seals. It is kind of a reverse role where you are the commanding officer and you're paying your troops seals as part of their pay for being in your squadron.
never do the dungeons for EXP but I always do the weekly mission, I have hundreads of different buffs for the expansion now because the tier 3 FC buff is annoying to make.

i am on my 1st toon & cannot become a weaver cause it says u need rank 10 in something not sure about this but i thought its battle level quests so i been doing those & no clue what battle level rank i am so confusing. i do like this better than wow which i played for years btw
The main problem with these I found, is the exorbitant Company Seal costs, forcing you to grind other crap for more seals. 1k, 1.5k isn't too bad, but once you get up higher, it starts getting expensive to run one dungeon, forcing you to do crafting/gathering turnins to get the seals back, and.... I hate crafting anything in HW or SB because of how it takes 15min+ to gather all the junk you need to make ONE item. I kinda feel like the Trusts that are coming in Shadowbringers will make this system somewhat obsolete depending on what kind of restrictions the Trusts will have.
I'm not alone - by looking at the comments - in having originally missed out on this. I am surprised SQENIX doesn't push this feature more but I am afraid with Shadowbringers the new Trust system will likely replace it for the future.
Been playing for a month. I use those dungeons to level up my dps classes. Because having to que as a dps takes forever. My main role is Paladin but I like the Machinist and Red Mage dps classes so far.
What happens if you completed a bunch of challenges before unlocking squadrons? Like I completed a good 10 or 15 challenges before I even unlocked squadrons.
Depending on your rank and level, the difficulty of getting seals is either incredibly easy or hard. When you have the turn-ins unlocked for dungeon gear and are around level 70, you are able to solo level 51-58 dungeons if you are geared. These drop gear that can be turned in and the dungeons take less than ten minutes to complete solo. For ventures, The Masked Carnivale is good now as you essentially get enough allied notes to get 120+ ventures every week by doing the challenges. For those who aren't of the proper rank and or level, the Grand Company Leves, Hunting log and ADVENTURER IN NEED for the leveling roulette are good sources. The latter being the best, as you can get 3,000+ per dungeon (you don't even need the roulette rewards, as Adventurer in need is every dungeon done). So having a tank and healer leveled to sign up every day will help.
I suggest a remake of your old what stats do vid. With maybe a stat priority list for the Jobs. I've noticed confusion with DH and Tenacity in a lot of the new players and returners like myself.
Is it me or in this video all is said about squadrons (and why many new players may have missed them) BUT how you actually use them, send them on missions, etc. (which is why many new players will keep missing them)?
Other reasons Command Missions are useful:
* You want to practice tanking
* You want to practice healing
*Dps queue times suck
I was trying this with tanking, try running level 50 dungeons with mechanics. It doesn't end well.

A topic you should do a video on is all the different AOE and mechanic indicators. Eg: split damage AOEs, proximity AOEs, tethers ect.

I haven't done this in a long time but I remember the dps they could do was insanely high compared to playing with people.

Do you have to complete the whole challenge log in a section or just one of the challenges in that section for a chance?

I’ve only done roulettes to level my secondary jobs. Praetorium and Castrum every day makes me shudder, but it’s better than PotD. I refuse to go into that place again. I never knew about this and sounds extremely helpful.
My bsm is level 36. I usually bought stuff in the market board like lumber and mythril ore. Should i start working on my miner? And the class that gets lumber?
botanist works with trees, so branches, lumber, bugs, fruits, etc. miner works with metals and stone, so any sort of salts, ore, and stone from them. if you look at your gathering log, as you level up, it shows you what you can gather and where it is located roughly. also, you can buy all you need for any crafting job at a nearby materials vendor in the guildhouse where the class is located. You can use all those materials to level any class to roughly Lv 20 and spend considerably less than the marketboard if you dont want to gather the materials yourself. can find other vendors around town (little pouch icons on your minimap) that can also sell low level crafting items that are useful like a fishmonger NPC that sells low level fish in a tower just south of the Aftcastle aethernode in Limsa Lominsa. great for some of the low level culinarian recipes. though I suggest getting miner and botanist leveled though, it can be immensely helpful if you want to make use of your crafting classes and will be cheaper since you can also sell the materials once you out level recipes, on the market board for some extra gil.

It all depends. As a tank or healer PotD and normal dungeon runs are usually on par (depends a lot on the other 3 people with you for both). Squadron npcs are very dumb but also very OP. I havent done any dungeons after engage spam was fixed but before that I could run stone vigil in 8 minutes. A normal group would take at least three times as long as stone vigil is one of the longest dungeons in the game. I cant tell you for certain but even after engage spam was fixed, squadron npcs should still be able to clear the dungeon in 15 minutes. So you are probably faster than with randoms. Add in the benefits of no queue times, no possibility of afk people or bad people or leavers etc.
if you're doing the same dungeon, technically the command mission will net you more because the mobs themselves have a hidden 60% exp boost (by hidden I mean that since it's applied on the mob, and not on you, you won't see it on the %. However the experience the monsters give is higher). Even though you can't do big pulls on a tank (as the healer AI will -not- keep up with big pulls), they kill things fast enough that it'll be about the same time as a decent group of people. And while the AI is pretty dumb, it's consistently dumb so you get used to it, whereas DF you can never predict what it'll be like.
I've used this to get my DPS jobs up to like lvel 60ish or more. So i can evade the 20-40 min cue line if i'm solo.

Ok but how to actually complete missions successfully would have been helpful too and how to use the training mechanic.
I have found that the amount of time it takes to level the squad makes them uselss for command missions. With road to 60 you can get a job to 60 in one day easily so by the time your squad is even close to that you are done leveling.
I have barely spent time with my squadron. It's hard enough to find the time get through eureka, earn weekly tomes and coins. The jobs that I want to level are over 50. If they would do trusts like 11 then I'd be more on board.
Just tried my first dungeon with my squad. My tank got killed by the end boss and my healer did not raise him until after the boss was dead. I couldn’t use LB, presumably because the tank was dead.
Random. How do you display all the different times?
Stupid question how do I use the squads? I just started and only went into the room twice and couldn't see how to send them out so I just left the area

I literally leveled all my jobs after the first job in the squadron, and oh boy “getting the amaro journey” was really easy with the squadron but it took me 2k hours and really drained me but it’s worth it.
Wouldn't be surprised if a Relic weapon or some amazing glamour was tied into GC once they release the rest of the ranks. Just hit Captain today.

In case you wonder - You cannot obtain this rank on a trial account. You will be locked 2 ranks below that since "Chief Storm Sergeant" (1 rank below Second Lieutenant) requires you to complete lvl 44 quest and trial level cap is 35.

When playing as an Ast if using a controller, would you use macros, or do you think it'd be possible without macros.
You can go to 60 pretty comfortably without macros. I would reccomend looking up some controller configurations to help out. Try work to game they did a 3 part series the videos are only about 10 minutes each.
It's totally possible. The only Marco that I would say is needed is lucid dreaming to Celestial opposition. Extending the mp refresh is critical to using ast to it's fullest.

"Potentially" more exp than regular dungeon runs. You still get the same exp, and you'll never get a new player bonus unless you yourself are the new player. They can give more exp because it will now be up to you if you want to fully clear a dungeon. Aurum Vale is a great example of this, which is already exp rich for leveling players under 50, but a lot of PUGs won't allow Marbol fruits to spawn and don't clear all the rooms, which is throwing exp away.
@@ulibarriL you missed the actual reason is only potential as the mobs in there have higher base exp drop then if you went into the normal dungeon however doing big pulls with huge chain exp rewards isn't reliable with the npcs so you get more then a typical pug but not necessarily more then a solid group

I don’t see why you would assume that your fc would go away. You don’t move to a different world.
Yea but my whole fc is gonna move to a different server and I don’t think they explained if we’re gonna be able to keep the fc or do we have to make a new one and lvl it back to rank 8 again
I'm almost certain you'll be fine. Square comes across as a competent bunch of developers so it's more than likely they didn't do anything convoluted and needless for storing data on server hard drives. With that in mind, migrating data from one server to another will be easy. Referencing and using the data is a different matter that they have likely tweaked and tested to ensure complete functionality for when shadow bringer launches
Do the dungeons that you do with the squadrons drop chests/loot?
Yes. When you get into Heavensward Dungeons, they pay for themselves through drops. Though until then, it costs seals to pay your squadron mates. Essentially, when you get to the point where you get seals easily and you get the rank of First Lieutenant or Captain, you are the one paying NPCs as opposed to NPCs giving you the seals. It is kind of a reverse role where you are the commanding officer and you're paying your troops seals as part of their pay for being in your squadron.
Ok so i am 2nd storm LT and have done all missions in the place but no unlock barracks.. I don't get this.
never do the dungeons for EXP but I always do the weekly mission, I have hundreads of different buffs for the expansion now because the tier 3 FC buff is annoying to make.
Squadrons kinda gives that ff12 feel

i am on my 1st toon & cannot become a weaver cause it says u need rank 10 in something not sure about this but i thought its battle level quests so i been doing those & no clue what battle level rank

The main problem with these I found, is the exorbitant Company Seal costs, forcing you to grind other crap for more seals. 1k, 1.5k isn't too bad, but once you get up higher, it starts getting expensive to run one dungeon, forcing you to do crafting/gathering turnins to get the seals back, and.... I hate crafting anything in HW or SB because of how it takes 15min+ to gather all the junk you need to make ONE item. I kinda feel like the Trusts that are coming in Shadowbringers will make this system somewhat obsolete depending on what kind of restrictions the Trusts will have.
I'm not alone - by looking at the comments - in having originally missed out on this. I am surprised SQENIX doesn't push this feature more but I am afraid with Shadowbringers the new Trust system will likely replace it for the future.

Been playing for a month. I use those dungeons to level up my dps classes. Because having to que as a dps takes forever. My main role is Paladin but I like the Machinist and Red Mage dps classes so far.
I cant unlock squadron do i have to clear the huntlog rank 3 ?
What happens if you completed a bunch of challenges before unlocking squadrons? Like I completed a good 10 or 15 challenges before I even unlocked squadrons.
Challenges are on timers. They refresh so they aren't 'wasted'.

Very helpful video, and I agree. If only the GC seals were easier to collect. Paying for ventures seems about all I can afford any more.
Turning in dungeon gear at your Grand Company that you don't need from running roulettes will get you tons of GC seals.
Depending on your rank and level, the difficulty of getting seals is either incredibly easy or hard. When you have the turn-ins unlocked for dungeon gear and are around level 70, you are able to solo level 51-58 dungeons if you are geared. These drop gear that can be turned in and the dungeons take less than ten minutes to complete solo. For ventures, The Masked Carnivale is good now as you essentially get enough allied notes to get 120+ ventures every week by doing the challenges. For those who aren't of the proper rank and or level, the Grand Company Leves, Hunting log and ADVENTURER IN NEED for the leveling roulette are good sources. The latter being the best, as you can get 3,000+ per dungeon (you don't even need the roulette rewards, as Adventurer in need is every dungeon done). So having a tank and healer leveled to sign up every day will help.
I can't even do these my first challenge mission is to do 10 supply or provisioning missions but none are available to me.
I suggest a remake of your old what stats do vid. With maybe a stat priority list for the Jobs. I've noticed confusion with DH and Tenacity in a lot of the new players and returners like myself.

I heard the barrage gltich with squadron archers got patched. Anyone know what's the best composition for a squadron now?
Is it me or in this video all is said about squadrons (and why many new players may have missed them) BUT how you actually use them, send them on missions, etc. (which is why many new players will keep missing them)?
