Love all the techniques you have demonstrated! I didn't know you can add underglaze to slip, so I learned something new today. I also like how you added different textures using slip. Your video always made me rethink how I can improve my pottery. Thanks for sharing!
I really like to watch your creative process. There are so many details to consider, movement, dimensions, depth…etc. I wish I could understand and apply those aspects to the pieces I make. 😲
I have been doing pottery off and on for over 20 years and I never knew I could add underglaze to slip!! That is a huge game changer. Thank you sooo much!! Your information is so incredibly helpful and your work is amazing thank you so much.
Very inspirational as with your past videos too Ann.Your use of regular glaze in the slip too will have to be tried along with the Mason stains I got. Another hit video. Cheers...Freddie
Thanks very much. I'm excited to try using colored slip. I've been doing this for 2 years, and I knew from watching videos that it was done, but nobody explained how! I'm so excited to get the studio to try this!
Well done , Ann ! Thank you for this new inspiring and instructing video. Merry Christmas! p.s. I recognized at first glance your style in the "Pottery making illustrated" issue .
That piece turned out gorgeous. I have played around with monoprinting but don't get the bright colors you got. Maybe I need to add a little more mason stain
hello Anne. I speak to you from Brazil. A happy New Year! Congratulations on the video. I've been following you on the channel and I really like what I see. In this painting I saw that you overlapped different colors and there was no color interference. Any guidance regarding this process? When overlapping which colors can come first; which ones cannot overlap. Thank you very much and once again congratulations!
Hello Brazil! I would suggest you look at my other videos on underglaze painting...those should get you started. If you would like a more in depth lesson, check out the links in the description for my underglaze painting courses. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this great tips! I’m new to pottery and I like the results of using color slip. So is fine to add the color slip before the bisque firing? And then after the bisque firing you add the glaze for the second fire?
Amazing creativity.. and thank you for sharing your talents.. I had just made some slip but was waiting to use it because I thought it had to be sieved ?? Am I wrong… ? Can I add my mason stains and use it right away ?
Sieving your slip is a good idea if the clay base has grog, but for smooth slip it isn’t absolutely necessary. Sieving will make slip more uniform and less likely to have “ bumpy” texture from unincorporated bits. I would add the mason stain before sieving smooth base to help it incorporate. For grogged clay, sieve before adding stain.
Hey Ann, how did you get the green to be glossy and the blue to be raw in the final piece? Love the video and adore the three dimensional look you got.
If your dots are pointy, you might just need to add a little H2O to the mixture. You can also wipe them down with a wet finger after they are almost dry to smooth them out. Thanks!
I'm making Terracotta jewellery. And bake it over the stove top using coal . I have some doubts . You did it over a non baked vase or baked one? After using slip does we bake it again? Please guide mam. Your technique s are amazing . Is it possible to use on terracotta? Please reply
I made slip using 25% of each Tenesse 1 (ball clay), Kaolin, EPK, and Custer Feldspar. I usually use 10% stain. How much water should I add if I am making a 200 gram or 600 gram batch? I used barely any water the first 10 colored slips I made but it took half an hour to sieve each slip through an 80 mesh sieve because it was so thick. Suggestions on how much water I should add for using the slip for slip trailing, painting it on, mishima, or stencils?
love your animated voice Ann and calm demeanor, not to mention talent ! thank you for all the extra work you do in making such informative videos

Exciting creation! Excellent video, too.
That piece turned out gorgeous. I have played around with monoprinting but don't get the bright colors you got. Maybe I need to add a little more mason stain
Thanks Kat - you may want to try the Mazerine Mason stains, they tend to turn darker at cone 5.
Hi Anne, love your latest project, have a great Christmas and New Year. 🥰💕🍀

OMG! Amazing.
Beautiful ❤️
❤ seu trabalho!
Beautifully done. I wonder you would have the same or similar affect if you use engobe?
Love the result. I’m curious what the advantage is of using coloured slip instead of underglaze here (with the exception of slip trailing)
No real advantage except you can make slip at home vs making or buying underglaze -thanks!
Well done 👍
Muy bello!!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks!
Thank You so much for your support! We really appreciate it! Be on the lookout for your new title and welcome to the LSP Research Facility Team!
Love your details and style. Would you mind sharing what size guage nib is your slip applicator?
I have several sizes but the one I used for this was very small - sorry, dont have an exact size.
Thank you for this great tips! I’m new to pottery and I like the results of using color slip. So is fine to add the color slip before the bisque firing? And then after the bisque firing you add the glaze for the second fire?
Thanks and yes to both!
Absolutely love this video. Can I used just clay slip? (Instead of porcelain?). Thank you
Yes you can!
Stunning 😍

Very interesting. Do you reuse the left clay? (Excuse my English, I am portuguese)
Yes, I reuse all clay that is not fired.
Did you add a clear glaze for a second firing?
Hey Ann, how did you get the green to be glossy and the blue to be raw in the final piece? Love the video and adore the three dimensional look you got.
I added a little Chamois glaze to the green areas (and some white glaze to the flowers) before final firing. Thanks!
How do you keep your dots from being pointed? They're perfect!
If your dots are pointy, you might just need to add a little H2O to the mixture. You can also wipe them down with a wet finger after they are almost dry to smooth them out. Thanks!
@@LittleStreetPottery Thank you! I'll try that.

I have some doubts .

This was on greenware (not baked). Then bisque fired to cone 04 - thanks.

Wow. Is it stoneware clay piece or porcelain?
Porcelain. Standard #365 - thanks!
Does the clay used for the slip need to be the same clay used for the main body?
Not necessarily. There are a lot of variables but no hard and fast rules for mixing the clays. This is a good idea for a video! Thanks.
hello. if i mix slip with underglaze how do i know what temperature i can fire it to....
Just follow the firing guidelines for the clay you are using - you should be OK. Thanks.
Thank you! We're your pots bone dry?
Just leather hard for these pots. Thanks for watching!
Are these techniques all low fire to maximum cone 06?
I bisque to Cone 04 and fire to Cone 5 or 6. (this case 5)
Can I use mason stains with stoneware too?
Absolutely! Depending on the grog, it may not flow as well as porcelain but its OK to try it. Lots of testing though...
Can one sketch with a pencil on the clay that will remain after firing?
Only if you use an underglaze pencil (not graphite). Look up underglaze pencils - there are a number of them. Good luck!
Is there a finish that is matte instead of gloss after firing?
Yeah, you might want to look for a satin finish glaze...amaco has some.
I meant Little Street Pottery.
Can we say aslip =terracotta +some of water?
😯❤🙏
Insufficient to be able to add only one 'like' !!
