Dragging Out Two Chicken Barn Immobile 1968 Imperials With Locked Up Brakes Stored For Years!

  • We bought a couple of 1968 Imperials from a local estate and took a road trip down to get them. One is a convertible loaded out with every option from Texas. It is blue in color with auto temp, ac, cruise, sentinel, etc etc. other one is a green hardtop in really good shape. First we go to the house to look at two XK120 Jaguars and a Citroen 2CV. Really cool cars but not really in our area of expertise. We also look at a 62 Dodge Lancer with an aluminum slant 6 we bought with the Imperials we will be getting at a later date (and will do a video on that one when we get it).
    Imperials are stored in a really cool storage building, think they were chicken barns at some point and they have some really cool cars in them. Bought a 72 Dart and a 46 Willys CJ2A out of this same shed a couple of years ago. Follow us getting the Imperials out of the barn with varying levels of pain. The green one had locked up 4 piston Imperial only front brakes but freed up on their own. The blue one had both rear brakes locked up and it took a good amount of "motivation" to get them free. If you don't have an Evan to help you highly recommend finding an Evan as he is fantastic.
    Will do a video of getting both of these running in a week or two so stay tuned!

      Mice are so nasty, super hard to get rid of the smell. Will have to pull rear seat and see how bad it is.

    Tilt and Telescopic!
    You turn that silver ring behind the steering wheel horn button counter clockwise to allow the wheel to move in and out then lock it down by turning it clockwise.
    That light blue metallic is a great color and the convertible top has a nice sleek style.

    That's pretty cool finding 2 68 Imperials. Those are just such a massive tank of a car and really nice cruisers, and unfortunately a lot of them have met their fate in demolition derbies because they will destroy anything in their path. I am also very interested in the Lancer. Typical strange looking early 60s Mopar, so weird they are awesome.

    Really nice 68's. The 68 convertibles seem to have a very high survival rate. There are many on the club site and are often up for sale.

    Cars are long enough for their own zip code, but only got two doors :-) I remember when they were occasionally on the road. Not nearly as many Imperials as Chryslers.

    You need to get dual exhaust on the green one. Makes a big difference at high rpm. A nice aftermarket cam will give you a lot more speed too! I have two 68's. Looking forward to the videos of getting these run. As for the light switch. The light switches on these go out frequently. If you install relays, the old one might work. They are hard to find.

    • @rocketresto
      @rocketresto  3 месяца назад

      Will dig into that once we get them running. Any advice is appreciated have very little Imperial experience and a lot of bespoke parts on these.

      @@rocketresto Most people are into quarter mile. What's the point of worrying about the quarter mile time, if you have a 10 mile trip? The Imperial is about the remaining 9 3/4 miles. Not only ride and style, but also high speed potential. Much more stable platform for speed. The 2.94, tall tires, and a good running 440 with good upper rpm potential makes this car a freeway king. I prefer the steel roof. Less drag, more body stiffness, more safety.

I have clean and I do mean clean 76 Duster with a 318 factory air dual exhaust factory emission free new torsion bars new heavy duty rear springs and new front shocks. I live in Nevada as did the original owner Lady. I can't seem to give this car away. Any ideas as to why😒 I have it listed on facebook market place and not even 1 view.
