I know it must have been difficult recording this with the equipment you had available, but it was well worth it. Really nice to see the different openings of what I reckon is the best theme music in history! (The one from the first series takes the prize for me). Thanks for posting!
@SchnuffelB yea, that was the pilot episode. i've seen it. because it wasn't aired, i didn't regard it as a tv show, and thus i didn't even consider including it. it had joan marshall as phoebe, and it had nate derman as eddie, and it had fred gwynne and al lewis and beverley owen.
@sneakiebug10 i don't recall another one in season 2, except that i have heard that season 2 had a version with or without the sound effects where herman smashes through the door.some episodes ( including intros ) have been colorized in recent years. there was an unaired pilot episode which was released on dvd, and i have seen it on youtube. it had happy derman play eddie, and it had joan marshall play phoebe, herman's wife.
Thanks for saying "thanks". I would not have putted the video up if i had found a better video on RUclips containing the 3 intros. I looked around. I could not find one, and thus i made my own video. Furthermore i believe that i could not find the 2nd version of the 1st season intro even standing only by itself. Maybe tons of persons forgot about the 2nd version, because shows generally keep the same intro for a whole season.
@asgaard636 version 1 and version 2 seem to have the same music, but the visual effects are different. version 1 shows lily as the first character, and shows herman as the last character, and shows beverley owen as marilyn. version 2 shows herman as the first character, and shows lily as the second character, and shows pat priest as marilyn.
@coppertweed seems to me they're taking a brief look at the weather. for example, lily checks out the rain. surely it was staged like that so the characters would look into the camera.
I like the first season theme better. the organ, tuba, and the bass guitar do it for me. Plus it has a more "horror" note to it. Wich seems more appropriate considering the show is a comedy about Count Dracula and the Frankenstein monster.
@sneakiebug10 yea, it looks like someone created it as a fan tribute. actually, the intros that were used in the tv episodes were kind of weird because it seemed that the camera was kept in the same spot the whole time while the characters moved into position. it's hard for me to think of any other tv show with that kind of intro. weirdsville, man, totally groovy.
At the time that i made this video, i did not know about that technology. I would do it better if i were to make a new one. On the other hand, i no longer have the films that i used for making the 2nd version of the 1st season intros. I find it strange that i could not find that version on RUclips.
@hydrolito yea. in particular, john schuck, who played as herman in "the munsters today" , didn't look a heck of a lot like fred gwynne. actually, it might be tough to find an actor that looks like fred gwynne.
@themaytagrepairman i guess you mainly prefer the 1st season theme because of the music, not necessarily because of the visual. i think both themes are equally great. the 1st theme reminds me of the fact that the show involves vampires and werewolves and so forth, whereas the 2nd tune reminds me of the fact that it's a comedy with a lot of scenes of glee.
This is one of the few shows where the replacement for know actor or actress resembles original as Pat Priest looks a lot like Beverly Owens, when they did Munsters today the Marilyn actress is clearly younger as is the Grandpa actor and the Herman actor is to short.
I like the 1st season better also- The eerie keyboard works great with the guitar- But I can't tell the difference between version1 and version 2 on this.....
Thanks for posting the 3 themes together. I am the odd one out. I prefer the second season theme. It has more of a bite to it.

My Favorite all time TV show I'm 58

in the 3rd intro.. what exactly do they stare at when they come through the..door?
@coventrygardens a yeah pherhaps your right

It looks like one that some one created, now that I look again. If you put in Munsters season 2 intro 2, it will come up!
Wasn't there another one in season 2?
yes. one version has no door crash sound. the other does

Where can I get the original videos of the intros?

I heard Herman once had a 3-way with Lilly & Elvira
Did you take the negatives?

asgaard636 The first and second intros were pretty much identical. They just had to re-film when Pat Priest replaced Beverly Owen as Marilyn.
