I have a Basswood tree in my yard that I have been watching grow for the last 60 years. After watching what YOU'RE going through; I'd just as soon it keeps on growing!😅
Good evening Al looks like you have one heck of a pitching arm. seems like every time you turned around and pitched the piece of wood toward the tote. You nailed it. keep up the hard work coach.🙂👍
I believe the pitching arm came from years of picking rocks out of the fields. You had to learn to throw the smaller rocks at a distance to hit in the bucket and keep them in there. You had to put back spin on them so they didn’t fly out of the bucket. Later my friend. Al
I haven’t found anything it won’t split . Sometimes you have to chip on the outside until there’s less in the middle and then it goes. I am feeling more confident with it. But I will always stay reserved. When you split enough wood, you learn when you run the knife to the bottom you need to watch and be ready for the smaller piece. Sometimes the blade catches the bottom of the split and it will come out flying at you. Thanks for stopping by. Later. Al
Thanks Larry for watching. Once in a great while I’ll sit down and have a marathon. Problem after watching 10-15 minutes I’ll fall a sleep. I didn’t get far. Later.
I’ve been running into a lot of junk wood myself. I put it in a separate bin in sell it at a cheaper cost for people looking for firewood around the campfire. I like the special effect off of the elevator😂
Good evening Allen. I am relatively new to making firewood. I hate when I get a log that is full of water and after it drys it is as light as paper. I'm still learning after 10 years or so. Enjoy the Journey - Cheers
Thanks for stopping in to watch. I usually start processing the wood when I bring it in. This past summer we expanded the wood yard. I had a lot of trees that I just didn’t have time to cut up. Mostly popular and maple. They sat on piles until January, when I started processing the logs. First thing I noticed was the weight of the logs. Once I cut them into rounds, I split them. I know the cold had something to do with it. They split so clean. I do think the combination of sitting and cold really made the job much easier. The logs sat about 6-7 months. Later my friend. Al
Hey Al.. Some of those rounds looked pretty gnarly, but some had some really nice splits come out of them. You just never know what you’re gonna get 😊 Have a good week Brandon
The base of the tree was very gnarly . The upper part of the tree that was not hollowed, that was nice splits. I just wanted to show that the vertical splitter can bust up gnarly wood. It definitely takes more time. Thanks for stopping in to watch. We appreciate your support. Al
Gota love tree service wood . I’d say 25% of what we get is that nasty stuff . Takes 3 times as long to split an is only worth half of what good wood sells for . I think once we have enuf to heat our house an the shop I won’t even bother splitting the ugly stuff . Always a good idea to count the fingers at the end of the day 😂. It’s dang hard to keep up watching all the other channels I try an watch 3 a night an so does Karen but there’s so many wood channels out there it’s impossible to even come close to keeping up .
When I first looked at the trees, I thought this is going to be some nice wood. Good thing I didn’t bet the farm on that. I really feel bad that there isn’t enough time to watch all the wood related channels . Take care and thanks for watching. Al
Hi Kenny, thanks for stopping in to watch. I do think the hollowed area the fibers had to grow like that to hold the tree up. The wood further up the trunk split just fine. It’s only my thought. You know I’m a legend in my own mind. It’s funny I started this video to show that the splitter could handle gnarly wood, but it went in a different path. Take care. Al
With tree service wood, it's a win-win and sometimes a loose for us. At the end of the day it will still burn and make heat for the house. Or a nice camp fire
You’re right Daniel. The wood can be useful for something. I have learned that basswood and popular stored outside , they seem to pickup a lot of moisture every time it rains. If you cover the top to shed the water that helps a lot. I prefer the drying under a canopy building with open sides. Thanks for watching. Al
Thanks for watching Jeremiah. Lots of ugly wood. But more good wood than bad. The main reason for this video was to show that the WR VS can bust through gnarly crap as well as nice grained wood. I was ranting about how bad the wood was I forgot how well the splitter did splitting it. Oh well. Have a great day. Have you got much snow in the last few days? We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground. Snowing now and is supposed to continue through Tuesday. Later. Al
You’re right it was free. The thing is when you end up with 2 tubs of uglies out of 2 trees it don’t seem promising. I think what’s bugging me here is I’m running out of containers and can’t get any at a reasonable price. Tomorrow I’ll move on and forget about it. Thanks for watching , we really appreciate your support. Al

Thanks so much for watching. Basswood isn’t always that bad. The old trees can be a pain when hollow.
Hey Mr Al , I got ahold of some gnarly wood a while back . My county line was having a fit with it . The wolfridge is a great splitter !!👍🏻🇺🇸
Hi Del. Hope you’re doing well. Thank you for watching. There’s not to much if it don’t split it will cut through it. Later bud. Al

That 17VSc sure does make splitting look easy!Looks like you are getting very comfortable running it! Take care Allen👊🏻

Nice job on the splitting
There are days I will watch 20 RUclips

Thanks Tom. Hard to have wood that don’t have waste. Thanks to Chris, she’s in charge of editing. Later bud.

Hey Allen, That makes sense what you said. Seems the tree grew stronger fibers to keep itself standing with that hollowed out center.

Gotta take the good with the bad! That’s why I have a burn pile👍👍

@@clubdoraoutdoorsandfirewood the VS handled it great! We had three inches but it melted the same day. Just rain here through Tuesday.
Not all free wood is created equal lol. But it's hard too pass it up when someone offers
You got that right. The minute you say no, someone else grabs your spot. It hard to hook up with tree service wood up here. Thanks for watching. Al
Well Al with free wood sometimes you get some bad even some nails 😂, as long as you get a lot more good stuff to out way the bad 👍, 🚜🪵🔥🚀🏰🇨🇦🇱🇷
