    Congrats, 6k! You deserve it! I never thought I could get so good at pygame, some c# and standard python. Thank you for the amazing videos!

      Thanks for watching!! A lot of my friends at my first job had process engineer experience when they joined the automation firm I worked for!! There’s a steep up front learning curve but once you get the basics down there’s nothing to it!!

      I was an automation integrator in northeast Ohio and in 2021 I took a job as a controls engineer for a chemical plant in Colorado that came with a 40% raise but way more responsibility as I was basically the only automation resource for 2 chemical plants, then in 2023 I just switched to be an automation and controls engineer for SpaceX where I currently work, and am actively interviewing for a management role, so it’s been a fun ride so far!

      I just scrolled and seen you’ve created an Engineering Interview Tips from SpaceX, Tesla, Disney and more video. I’m pretty sure it’ll answer my question above.
      Thanks again!

    Great video! I'm currently a senior ME and my instructor says that PLCs are the old way (or dated) way to doing controls and that the future of controls will be with microcontrollers, what are your thoughts on this?

    • @lemastertech
      @lemastertech  Год назад +3

      Hey that’s interesting thanks for sharing! I think the desire for a really robust dedicated PLC for factory wide applications isn’t going anywhere so like rockwell and Siemens and ABB will probably always supply huge customers with these super expensive PLCs, but I think your professor is on the right track that smaller standalone skids or single system operations can be controlled by microcontrollers and even cheap PLC options like automation direct or beckhoff or arduino could be used. Ultimately though the industry standard is the PLC so he might be right about the old way vs the new way but the industry changes very slowly so PLCs aren’t going away any time soon!

    As a broke second year computer engineering student, what type of projects or other things you would recommend doing to gain more experience in control systems? My LinkedIn is rough 😭

    • @lemastertech
      @lemastertech  7 месяцев назад +5

      Well being broke doesn’t have to stop you from learning as long as you have a decent computer! Beckhoff’s TwinCat PLC programming software is completely free, Ignition is a leading SCADA software and they have a free version for makers, and you can always practice structured text style programming by getting good at python and C++ for free by doing computer programming projects! If you truly want to do a full on automation project you might want to try and get a cheap little PLC, write code for it, and hook some inputs and outputs up to test, but there’s obviously a cost there! The RUclips channels RealPars is 100% dedicated to controls and automation so that’s a great source of knowledge too!!

    I believe that the priority should be to automate the tasks that require (hard) manual labor,
    but instead
    most the of the software innovation nowadays tries to automate creativity🤦‍♂
    Congrats on the 6k btw:)
    Next stop - 10k!

    • @lemastertech
      @lemastertech  Год назад +1

      Agreed! It makes me sad how many people think the real use of engineering or automation or AI is mainly for artistic purposes, but I think the creative work is what we should always want to keep doing ourselves. And industrial automation is really just like you said automating away the hard manual labor stuff!

    I got a job as plc programmer. And the manager who give me interview saw in my resume i know something about arduino. And it seems that he is interested. Does arduino used now in the industry??

    • @lemastertech
      @lemastertech  8 месяцев назад +1

      Arduino does make a micro PLC with 8 inputs and 4 relay outputs called the “opta” but it’s still a bigger player in the microcontroller game than they are in the industrial controls game so far!

      @@lemastertech what's the fastest way to become Automation Engineer. Rite now my job is PLC programmer.

    • @lemastertech
      @lemastertech  8 месяцев назад +3

      It totally depends on the company, some places don’t have a big difference between plc programmers and automation engineers, but a lot of places expect their automation engineers to be able to design and wire electrical cabinets, troubleshoot wiring and perform loop checks and device commissionings, as well as PLC coding and hmi development and often some networking and data reporting as well! So plc programming is a good start but there’s definitely a lot of areas to strengthen to become a full on automation engineer!!
